Title: EXPLORING MADNESS - it's not over yet! London gig 21.09.06
Post by: TV on September 19, 2006, 02:55:37 PM
Another ex-member of the Explorers, drummer Dave Sinclair, is active on the gig circuit this week. Now playing guitar and fronting his own band he plays in London this Thursday...and I'll be making a guest appearance! After the last-minute cancellation of one of the bands on the bill, I'll be playing a 30 minute solo set, starting around 9.00. There will be a special TUTS reduced price guest list for this gig - anyone registering an interest under this thread on the forum by midday on Thursday will be get their names placed on the door so that they can get in for just a couple of quid. Sadly there'll be no "Exploring Madness" on sale, but the Ginglik is said to be "one of the coolest bars in London." Hope to see some of you there!

Post by: Tj on September 19, 2006, 06:10:36 PM
That's fantastic news. :D Dave asked me on My Space if he could support the TV, Strange & Stoner gigs in Yorkshire.

Must admit I was praying that the post was going to say - Attila The Stockbroker has organised a TV, Strange & Stoner 'Exploring Madness' gig in Shoreham and TV has arranged a follow on gig in London the following day.

Sadly I'm coaching in Yorkshire all day on Thursday, so I can't make it. :(

All the best to TV and Dave - keep carrying on Exploring Madness. :D

I've just had this reply to my My Space site from David Sinclair...

Hey Tj,

Thanks for finding my page. We are playing at Ginglik, Shepherds Bush Green on Thursday (21) and Tim said he is coming down...

I wish I could have gone. :D

By theway rumours that I am working on a goal to re-unite all of TV Smith's Explorers are not true. Others may have this goal but not me.

...Of course if TV did decide to re-unite them I'd be in the queue faster than you could say... "Walk Away!"

Had a chat with Stoner on Monday, can you believe he's concerned about how well he played in Yorkshire. Sublime Stoner, simply sublime. Colin seems an even bigger perfectionist than TV, if that's possible.

After wiping out all my friends on My Space I'm back up and runing and received these two messages. One from David Sinclair (The Explorers drummer) about the gig this week and one from Erik Russell (The Explorers guitarist) about the Exploring Madness gigs.

TV Smith *Misinformation* alert

Great news. TV Smith is going to play a set at our gig tomorrow at Ginglik. We were originally booked to support another band who, rather inconveniently, have split up. So Tim has kindly agreed to step in at short notice. What a dude!

Tim has done it all. A brilliant singer and songwriter, he was the leader of the Adverts and then TV Smith's Explorers, the band for whom, in a previous existence, I played drums. We were signed to Kaleidoscope, a subsidiary of CBS, and released one album - *The Last Words of the Great Explorer*. Tim has released many albums since then while reinventing himself on the road as a one-man acoustic punk-troubadour. His current album, *Misinformation Overload*, is a return to his angry rock roots and comes highly recommended.

So this makes tomorrow's show not merely a great line-up but also a historic reunion. It will certainly be a pleasure for me to share the same stage as Tim again - if not at exactly the same time.

See you there!

David Sinclair - My Space

OK, there'll be a couple of Fleagles listed on the door...anyone else let me know before tomorrow evening.

TJ

We had to leave after TV's set so I don't know what went on after that  :?

The venue was a toilet  8O
Literally, it was a converted toilet how cool, to quote the Punk Rock Poem 'we played in every toilet in this green and slimey land' well TV certainly did last night 8)
Despite it's humbe origins it was a very nice evenue  :D

TV only had a short set and my biro wasn't working properly and I didn't realise in the dark so hear goes, the best that I can recall of the setlist  :?

NABD
The Good Times are back
NIMN
Bring the Bull Down
Swimming in the Flood
You saved my life and ruined it
Thin Green Line
Gen Y
Runaway train driver

Mrs Fleagle

P.S Short post suffering from sleep deprivation due to getting up for work at stupid o'clock, hence early departure tonight.
