Title: C5's Treasure... His Original Copies of TV Times and Letters from Dave Thompson
Post by: Tj on April 19, 2009, 09:04:10 PM
After one and a half years I finally felt the time was right to look through C5's Treasure chest that his Dad sent me...

...Imagine my suprise when one of the first things I read within TV Times was a review by Dave Thompson of some of the 80's Demo's. :o

Including THE IMPOSSIBLE PERSON. :o :o :o

...One of the rarist TV Smith songs on record. In fact so rare, that like a certain missile, it is missing.

Hey TJ, if you ever get the chance, I'd love to see copies of some of those letters!  I can't believe he even kept them!

Thanks....

Dave 'C5' Allen idolised you and TV, Dave, he treasured your letters and his ancient copies of TV Times. I'm sure he'd love to let you have the copies, so I'll scan all the letters and email them over to you.

Had yet another dip into C5's TV Times treasures yesterday.

Well actaully I almost drowned in them. ;D

I see that in 2010 it will be 30 years since the first issue of TV Times.

It was four pieces of xeroxed paper handed out at the first gig of the famous Explorers line up of TV, Stoner, Erik, Mel and Dave.

The previous Explorers (that at one point featured ex-Adverts Tim Cross (Mike Oldfield Band) and John Towe (Generation X) ) had only played four times.

Ouch!

October 6 1980.  Up at some truly unGodly hour in the morning, walked 15 minutes into work because the buses weren't even running yet, cup after cup of foul coffee from the vending machine and then onto the photocopier for a couple of hours.  Home to staple them together and then off to the gig to distribute them round the tables.   Ah, the memories....

No longer a Bored Teenager eh Dave? ;)

If I could go back in time to '77 I'd produce a Punk fanzine.

The Leeds Punk fanzine was called New Pose. It featured some band called The Adverts back in their early days.

I was never really bored, just pissed off and restless.  Ha, let's see TV shoehorn that line into the song.

You should write a story about that Dave!

How about in TV Times 44 and 45? ;)
