I was thinking this yesterday after again forgetting to make a proper song request to TV at Wakefield Hop. Wake Up was a bit of a big call!

Finland was mentioned. As the last one was in the UK the other obvious coice is Germany.

Fingers crossed.

It would be good to see any U.S. Earthbound happenings (even though I probably couldn't attend) - however we don't have that many members from USA, who would organise one? (and it would have to take place when TV tours there anyway, I guess)...  8)

Please note that this is very tentative news, it's all still in the planning...

EARTHBOUND 2013
early October
Augsburg

More info as and when we get it.  8)

Tourist info
http://www.augsburg-tourismus.de/home-english.html

Augsburg is a nice town in the south of Germany, should be easy to reach via Munich airport and then by train (Intercity and ICE run through Augsburg as far as I can tell). Also there's the Autobahn "A8", which runs from Stuttgart to Munich via Augsburg.

The plan for this one is to tie it in with a "festival" which also shows an exhibition of Gaye's art plus gig by TV (plus loads of other bands, incl. Garden Gang).

Now the question is: which day would you TUTS prefer? Friday October 4th or Saturday Oct. 5th?
(Note that Oct 3rd is a National holiday in Germany, i.e. it's a "long weekend".)
Let us know!

To be fair, let's post a German version:

Alles noch in Planung, aber es sieht bisher so aus:
EARTHBOUND 2013
Anfang Oktober in Augsburg

Welchen Tag würdet Ihr bevorzugen, 4. oder 5. Oktober?

We will probably be heading for Sat. Oct 5th. (TV might still play a "regular" gig on Friday.)
More details soon, I hope.

Sorry to hear about this - check if Stuttgart is cheaper. If so, might be worth it, as it's only about 2 hours on the motorway from Stuttgart to Augsburg (same with the train).
If anyone of you UK TUTS need help with their stay in south Germany, let me know via PN (or ask Klaus).

Me and Helen get discounted train travel, so this is probably the way to do it. Cheapest flight far dearer - £167 for a change at CDG or £220 for non-stop - and some of those give you no time to relax and involve getting to the airports at 5am both there and back.

If we go, it's by train

Good news for you who want to buy (train)tickets: TV has confirmed he'll be there...  :)  ;)

Now what's next: I will try and find out how the TUTS will get to our fan-meeting (no idea if we'll have to pay entry to the festival - but I suggest those who come will go and look at the art exhibition etc. anyway)! I will try to find out how much the beer costs.  ;D
I will have to see if there's food or anything available or maybe we can arrange something for some of us to meet in the afternoon...
We'll see.  8)

The festival happens in an old Gasworks building!

Date is uncertain still, should be Oct 4th or 5th. More details soon(ish).  8)

News update: we have a tendency for EB to happen on Friday 4th October. (TV still plays a regular gig there on Saturday.) Tentative still.
Apparently beer supply is secured, we're going to get a local special brew, a Pale Ale!  8)

I'm sure Klaus will put full details on the website, when everything is confirmed. I hope we'll have a great event with lots of fans!

Hi TUTS.

We've looked into the dates and logistics of this year's Earthbound and me, Lisa, Smith & Fi won't be able to make it this year. A real shame as it's always the favourite gig of the year.

I'm hoping to catch you at a gig later in the year Teev.

I'm also looking into a potential new Earthbound location for next year.

Looks like it will be on Friday 4th October, we are planning a (relatively) early start of about 7pm, so people can see other bands at the festival, if they want. I suggest we meet from 6pm onwards, for testing the beer etc.! TV will also play on Saturday. You can have a look at Gaye's art exhibition and many other things.  8)

19:00 Uhr?

Ist also nix "Außergewöhnliches".

Edit: hier das Line-Up für Freitag

Soulspeed – Neuburg – Indierock
HIFI Spitfires – Gateshead/UK – UK77 Punkrock
Marionetz – München – KultDeutschFunPunk
Jowe Head & The Demi Monde - London/UK - Experimental (ex Swell Maps + TV Personalities)
+ Special Guests

Samstag Lineup:

Dead City Rockets – Erlangen – Old School Punk Rock
Loaded 44 – Newcastle/UK – Melodic Punk Rock
Garden Gang – Bavaria/CH – Glam Punk'n'Roll
TV Smith - London/UK - '77 Punk Rock Legend
+ special guests

Somit spielt GG am Sa, also keine Überschneidung.

Special thanks goes to PamP who got me in touch with Gerhard (he is the one who does nearly all the work, while I can sit back and do updates from time to time!)...
For those on FB it's no secret any more, so I guess I'll make it public: support comes from PamP, who'll play a few songs for us.  8)

My first thought for Earthbound 2013 is to play for the first time ever the entire set of new songs for the forthcoming 2014 album. What do you think TUTS?
And - if all goes to plan - there will be a very very special exclusive item on the Earthbound merch stand...shhhhh!.....

Wow, great news! I'd love to hear the songs from the upcoming album!!!  :)
Plus of course some rarities: I thought as "Not a bad day" (the album) is 10 years old now, it'd be good to hear some of those songs (especially the ones not played in a long time)! Incl. "Earthbound" of course.  ;)

I am currently trying to write my first ever text for a press release, as Gerhard from "Augsburg Calling UK" is asking for an Earthbound one for the presentation of the festival in the local press. Should be a good one.  8)

Mrs Fleagle also told me they won't be able to make it. Looking like not many UK TUTS will be with us this time.  :(
(I know, it's difficult with schedules & travel arrangements and all that sorta stuff... as I'd missed some EB's as well...)

I will be at Earthbound in spirit.

I'm on a trip to Elland Brewery that weekend. Four times home of Earthbound and brewers of the new Supreme Champion Beer of Britain.

Long live Earthbound.

Well done Uli for keeping the legend of Earthbound alive and well.

In Leeds at the moment.

It's got some decent pubs.

Not the first time I've been to Leeds, but the first time without a police escort!  ;D

Yet another person mixing up a Road with a football ground on it with a town many miles away.

Elland is not in Leeds Slaughter.

And Leeds was rough in the 70's I agree.

It's 2013 now.  :)

Check out Friends of Ham and North Bar for the new face of Leeds.

Yep Elland's a good place to be on that special day Uli.

For me, I could make the Friday, but not the Saturday. I looked at flights home on the Sat, but were not suitable/existant to get back to Kent. As the "total weekend" looked the biz, I'd rather miss then lot than only do 50%.

I am sure that everything will be as good as ever, after all you don't get "half-measures" with TV.

Earthbound is all about TUTs so obviously if the TUTs don't come it will be a bit empty... My suggestion is we take a few years break after this one and maybe start again when the enthusiasm is back.

Well I understand all the problems people have with time, money, travelling etc.!
But it's not like it'd been announced last week...
We will have to wait and see how many TUTS will turn up.  8)

Then again, if e.g. Fleagle does another EB in Carshalton next year or later, I'll try and be there!  :)

Now I cannot really comment as I am a "failure to attend" this year, but I will...  Everybody wants somebody else to organise an event and then they fail to support it when it arrives.  EB is a great social get-together, be it in the UK or in Germany, it would be such a great shame if there was to be a break, however true TUTs will attend wherever possible.

Of course I'm happy to play a special TUTS gig whenever wanted - but more and more often TUTS meet up at regular gigs anyway throughout the year. It might be a good plan in future to choose one of the scheduled gigs and hi-jack it to become a TUTS gathering. But as always, it's up to you...I am your servant...

i have really bad Luck with the Shedule this year, for the November Tour too, i´m in the US from 21. Nov till 5 dec. So no Concerts for me this year

For EB, at the moment much People at work are ill and so no free days, bad but impossible to change.

But Hijacking a sheduled gig for an Gathering would work, we already had a few Gigs like this in the Past, where you come in and see all the Tuts total unplaned. We will see...

Another option for next year is a certain brewery in Yorkshire.

And no, not the usual one.

I do agree with Teev though that it's a good idea to Keep It Simple.

Klaus always tried to get me to do things The Easy Way. ... I'm finally listening.

Have a great Earthbound TV and The TUTS.

See some of you with Smit of Elland in Derby next month.

I am pretty sure a lot people from the 'south' will turn up.  :)

Many of the Düsseldorf-area fans are a bit spoilt with TV's presence and too lazy to do the trip.
That's the impression I got after talking to a few of the usual Düsseldorf-suspects...
Banausen...

We never were really strict with registration procedures for EB.
Like this time we did it mainly to get a sense of how many people possibly will turn up.
So people might think, they will get in without registration, anyway. Which is somehow right. ;-)
Just wait and see. It will definitely be a great weekend!

I myself am having a bit of schedule problem this year.
No, not the usual being late problem... ;-)
Will be a close call on Friday...

Friday Oct 4th:
Arrival in Augsburg as planned. As I get out of my car near the "Altes Gaswerk", I see a van arriving, it's PamP & Verena. A quick hello, then inside one of the buildings, where I can hear TV doing soundcheck. Everything is set up, a lady behind the counter already waiting for orders - perfect! (Thanks so so much to all the people from ACUK!)
After a while the first few TUTS arrive. René & Mariann, Ilove & Wolfgang, Klaus and more (some I meet for the first time - always nice to meet new TUTS). Also, with only a 14-year-delay, I say "hello" to Gaye for the first time. 8)

All in all, it could've been more people to be honest. However we won't let our night be ruined with negative thoughts, so we just carry on.  :)
First beers are ordered, but white wine is not available, so we take a quick drive to get 2 bottles. (Everything necessary is done to keep the TUTS happy!)
Finally PamP is starting his solo support, playing some GG songs (but mostly ones the band won't play tomorrow), very good!
Then it's on to TV who plays a GREAT Earthbound set for us, mainly consisting of the songs for the new album (due 2014). Plus some rarities of course, "Soon as I found I lost it" and "Walk Away" are two of those which are VERY special for me to hear!

Saturday Oct 5th:
After a day I spend in Augsburg (very nice to walk around the town centre, I love it!), I meet some of the other TUTS (minus Klaus, who apparently is still in bed) for dinner in a bar/restaurant in Augsburg-Oberhausen. Then it's off to the "Altes Gaswerk" again, where the first band is playing (Dead City Rockets, not bad!), in the break(s) I look at the exhibition and/or meet more TUTS.
Jowe Head & the Demi-Monde are playing a very strange, quirky set (very different to the punk thrash of other bands, quite eccentric). Then Garden Gang are on and they are brilliant, despite the sound not being perfect, they radiate some incredible energy on stage!  :o
TV again plays a blinder of a gig. Klaus (who'd arrived meanwhile) had his doubts, with the audience being quite slim (not enough promotion for ACUK it seems), but it is the biggest crowd of the weekend and TV is on great form! Classic after classic, with a few new and rare ones inbetween! (Watch out for the setlist.)  8)

In short, we had a great EB weekend! Thanks to ALL involved!  :)

Hard to believe, it's already a year ago when we had that great EB weekend in Augsburg!
Got to hear all the songs from the new album "I Delete" (which is available via the shop on tvsmith.com from today!) in acoustic live versions at our special TUTS gig. Got a "regular" gig on the next day. Got the "Acoustic Session Vol.1". Got to meet many old and new friends. Got to know Augsburg is a really nice city (and went to visit it more often since then).  8)
