TV Smith & The Bored Teenagers will be heading to Ireland in 2015, playing Dublin Fibber Magees on January 9th with Paranoid Visions, The Dubtones, and the N-11 - then next day in Belfast with PV once again, and the Defects. And watch this space for some news soon of Italian dates coming up in November...

By the way, was gonna have a chat with you after the Foreman's gig but you shot off before I got chance - had to talk to TV instead!

Interesting fact number 43. At 1:30pm on 12th April 1978 I was in a gas explosion in a pub called the Rutland Hotel. The blast was so powerful it send the whole bar flying through the air. My face was badly burned and the skin hung down from my hands in strands like long bandages. Fortunately no-one was killed in the blast which featured prominently on The News At Ten.

I've never been the same since.

The Rutland Hotel in Leeds is now called The Fox & Newt.

Will I ever return?

Only for love.

The past...

I DELETE.

It's a minefield, Claret. The facebook page for the event calls it Blackburn, the pub calls it Accrington. I'm going to change it to Accrington!

Cracking gig at the Fort Arms in Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington last night. A couple of bands on first then TV came on at about 9-45 PM and played for about 1 and a half hours to a packed room, most enjoyable Wednesday night I`ve had in years !  Oh and TV went down a storm with the locals.

...and here's what Google Translate has to say about the above review:

"For TV Smith's fourth tour in sequence with the subs and the viewing figures speak for themselves. Where a few years ago only 30 people standing in front of the stage and meets today almost the entire crowd and sings with every word. TV presents this year his wonderful new album "I delete" before and had accordingly while some new songs. Actually, I hardly need to say something to him. I have on many occasions had the pleasure to attend and write about him him. Powerful, as ever he whips his songs at the audience, which thanked with thunderous applause for it. His lyrics are always brand new, critical and timeless. For me, TV is still one of the greatest musicians ever."

"That was the best TV Smith I've ever seen. The sound, the songs and the atmosphere perfect." Rocket Ron at The Fox & Newt in Leeds last night.

Must admit it was a cracker.

Great to see TV, Claret, Alan Grundy, Phil, Gareth, Rocket Ron, Ian, Leigh Sayers. So many TUTS of old.

Derby bound today.

Indeed it was a cracker. Great to see TJ, Chris and Phil again. Good turnout, great atmosphere and the sound was excellent. Only disappointment was missing most of Louise's set even though we tried to get there early. I think Phil wrote the setlist out-either that or he was writing a letter.

Hopefully Phil will write a detailed review of Derby (especially since I missed most of the acts!), but I'd just like to say it was great to meet up with several familiar faces again last night and thanks again to Tim for "Thin Green Line".

You can just play the song without the high kicks you know, but I secretly suspect that you enjoy being the best Can-Can dancer to emerge from punk! It went down a storm, as usual, and got some other (non-Can-Can) dancing going.

By the way, I played this to some students recently at the start of an atmospheric pollution lecture and they loved it. Oh, and "Safety in Numbers" went down well at the start of my ethology lecture on Living in Groups!

Who says TV isn't educational?!
Title: Re: TV Gigs 2015

Crikey.. I am in demand for my reviews (blushing!!)

So not to dissapoint you kind readers.

My sister suggested another Smith sojourn, and who am I to dissapoint?

The bonus was that TV was to play Crash records, so we curtailed our imbibing at the Friends of Ham and found our way to crash, via the City Varieties Theatre, just to see where "The Good Old Days" was filmed..  (See television history also gets a feature in my reports)

Ok so on to Crash..  to be told that it was "hoped" that TV was still coming, but had been delayed by his train being cancelled, so we diverted to a pub called the "3-legged man".  If in Leeds, I would suggest avoiding it and should really have done so myself, but in the fairness of "research...."  It was one of those pubs, where the stench of stale beer hit you on opening the door, plus the stench of the clientel....  Karaoke was in full swing (5pm!!) and if I said that it was dire, the that would be giving dire a bad name.  The only "non-fizz" was John Smiths on tap.  Still better than t'nowt (see you even get the dialect thrown in!)..  1 pint was enough, lets just put it that way...  Then back to Crash to be told that the session was off because of traffic getting out of York.

A gentle stroll found us at the Frog & Next and what a nice place.  Nice bar staff, some really excellent ale and a very nice plate of Nachos.  Retired upstairs when it opened and found a nice "niche" looking "side-on" to the proceeding.  Louise did an approx 40 mins set, throwing in a couple of new songs.

TV started around 9.15pm and produced at set of 28 songs, over 90 minutes, there was a mild panic when he found that he had lost his "cappo" and after searching the guitar case found everything but (but no socks either!).  Louise came to the rescue 8 songs in and all was well.

And so dear reader the set-list (about time I hear)

Replay, 21, Flavour, Clone, Delete, Lion, Expensive, Imm Rich, Giants, GBM, Gen Y, CITL, Wait, Future, Drink, Tom Cruise, Long Gone, Church, Lords, Thousands, Television, Arms, String, Useless, GGE, BT, OCW & RTD.

End of Part 1
Title: Re: TV Gigs 2015
Post by: EastKentTaff on March 02, 2015, 04:03:55 PM
And so to Derby..

A stroll around Derby found us at the Hairy Dog about 6pm a very dark venue, but welcoming staff and again good ale on tap.

We sojourned into town for food and then returned about 7.45 around 30  in the bar, which was playing "thrash metal". After about 40 mins we were still sitting there waiting, Louise appeared, came to say hi, disapeared.. Time for another pint me thinks.  Mentioned to the barman about the gig,  "Oh that's upstairs he said"..  Upstairs!!! and he was right....  so we missed most of the 1st act "Static Kill", who (for the bit that we saw) we very good, then Billy Liar, really excellent and could he pay his guitar!!  Louise next (nothing to be said here) and then Tim at about 2220hrs.  Again a 90 mins set 29 songs.

Fred, TJ & myself formed the choir!!

And the list...

Flavour, 21, CITL, Replay, Delete, Lamb, Expensive, Imm, GBM, TV, My Place, Hometown (after a false start!), Roof. Carrying on, Long Gone, Dang Play, String, What if, Church, Lords, TGL, Fish, Arms, GG, BT, OCW.   Encore of Bombsite, Gen, & RTD

And so dear readers that is it until the next time...   Now where the map & timetables!!!!

They said it couldn't be done...

Yes! TV Smith himself admitted that his adventure through the peak district into Buxton and his beer and soup in The Buxton (Brewery) Tap actually beat his trips to Boots and Bright Lights in search of a shaver and a vacuum cleaner repair. Hurrah!

After a beer of two with my wife Lisa and fellow Coach Clare we arrived at The Hairy Dog.

TV had twisted my arm to watch Billy Liar and he was awesome. What a real live wire. TV Smith energy and attitude.

Great to watch Louise again. Her set it stoll looping round and round in my head.

I had a bit of a shock as someone was singing so loud behind me that I couldn't even hear yield singing along. Who was this young upstart?

Yep! It was Phil EKTAFF. Ha!

Great to see TV's No. 1 2015 fan at the gig again. You are a star Alan.

Good to see my old Mucker and original TYT Fred again.

Thanks for Carrying On and Hometown Teev.

We made it in the end.

The funny thing was that Rocket Ron said that Leeds was TV Smith's best gig ever.

And Derby was better.

Like a fine Merlot TV gets better and better with ageing.

Thanks Uli.

I was just thinking how good the translation was - until we got to the "pants" bit!

"He was there from the beginning, as a storm was brewing in London in the 70s, which swept under the name of "punk" by the UK. Lack of perspective, youthful anger and incredible boredom added at that time to an explosive mixture together, which was with the Sex Pistols and The Clash a face and a voice. Even the London Tim Smith was involved under the pseudonym TV Smith and his band The Adverts of the hymns of an entire generation.

Today, forty years later, TV Smith is still angry and full of energy. The singer has released 14 solo albums and provides an impressive concert program of nearly 160 shows per year. On Thursday, he led this to Winterthur, in the Sahara bar. In a ninety minute set he played to a full house a rousing best-of-program of old classics and pieces from his new album "I Delete".

"The anger is still there"

Smith had neither an opening act nor a companion volume needed. All alone entered the gaunt man with his guitar on stage, took part in the welcome still reluctant to then show the first song "Only One Flavour" equal, that he has become neither quiet nor silent with age.

"The anger is still there," the singer said in an interview before the concert. "The good thing about getting older is that the anger is more precise and focused. As a teenager, it's just basically angry. Today I try to look more closely. "So the songs of Smith are short, poetic stories that illustrate the mainstream media, the unequal distribution of wealth or the Internet Society critical. It is unfair but that rich people lived longer than demonstrably poor, Smith called into the audience. On the loud approval followed the catchy and the present well-known "Immortal Rich" - immortal realms.

TV Smith is known pants especially because of his friendship with the German punk band Die Toten this country. So he left it on Thursday night because not accept to play their hit single "Pushed Again" - then, he has written the lyrics.

Finished Smith has the concert in a good mood and conciliatory with the song "The Good Times Are Back". Because no one wants to discourage Smith: "People should feel good about my concerts and encouraged that they can make a difference."

I can only imagine it originated from "Die Toten Hosen"? Hosen = trousers or pants?  ???
That part of the translation is really strange...

Good to see TV Smith is coming back to Leeds in November.

Thus time it's with The Bored Teenagers.

If The Library is where I think it is, it's the old Feast and Firkin pub where Dave Sanders of Elland (now at GreyHawk) started his brewing career. The World Just Got Smaller Again. :)

Great gig at the Boar's Head in Kidderminster last night at a new venue (both pub & town) for TV. Nice friendly place although I couldn't figure out what the "Pirates of the Caribbean" decor had to do with the pub's name. Perhaps it's a local thing although I didn't see many galleons on the river Stour! Perhaps next time, we'll get the whole of "Crossing the seven (red) Seas!
Till then, we were treated to a 33 song set including (as well as the usual suspects) some rarer live outings such as "Haves and the Have Nots", "The Servant", "The Beautiful Bomb" and "Fire In The Darkness".

So, Mrs Taff fancied a trip to Hampton Court Palace...  which nicely tied in with a visit to Kingston Upon Thames..  And a bonus was seeing Stones Heroes and The Morgellons for the 1st time..

I had deliberately avoided links to Stone Heroes stuff as I wanted to hear them live first and.  (and I am not beiing "lickety-spit" to Mr Fleagle) what an excellent band they are.  A 35 minute set was well received by a healthy audience, the sound was just about right, despite Mrs Taff sitting right by the speakers!!.  The chance to purchase their 2 EP's and a T Shirt did not go amiss either.
The Morgellons did a 30 minute set, which was also very good, especially for a first-timer like me..

Our man Smith came on stage at a couple of minutes to 10 and produced the usual great set, this time of 20 songs, mainly due a 11pm curfew.

Flavour, 21, Replay, CTIL, 3rd Term, Cutbacks, Future, Wait, Lion, Delete, Expensive, Have & Have nots (1st live hearing for me), Imm Rich, GBM, Gen Y, String, GGE, BT, OCW and an encore of RTD (despite Fleags not being available for a Conga (he was manning the Merch!!)

Nice to meet Sylvia (Haas) at the gig, she recognised  me from EB2011 in Essen, when I was roadie for Vom's cymbals as they raced acrossed the stage, persued by a "drumming monkey"....  Steve The Fish was in attendance as was (of course) Mrs Fleagle.

Also, I was asked by another young lady if I was "an original-punk" as she liked hearing stories of the "old-days"!!!!  Turned out she is Andy Tracey's (TRB, Faithless etc) "other-half.

Anyhow an excellent evening  and  even Hampton Court wasn't bad..  despite being there for almost 6 hours.....

Anyhow an excellent evening  and  even Hampton Court wasn't bad..  despite being there for almost 6 hours.....

I liked it, been there in 2012.

I didn't even remember there were TV & BT shows planned when I first heard about BBQ (he's on the mend, but has to stay in his hospital bed for a bit).
Here's TV announcement from FB:
Quote
Some of you following me on Facebook may already know that my good friend, and bass player for the Bored Teenagers, Jonathan "BB Quattro" was rushed into hospital over the weekend to have emergency surgery to treat an intestinal perforation and to have his appendix removed. The operation went well and he is doing fine but has to stay in hospital for the foreseeable future so obviously this means that the band are unable to come to Germany for the planned gigs this week. And now the good news...I've agreed with all the venues involved to come over anyway to play the gigs solo - and for the first of them in Duisburg I'll even be joined by my old mate Vom Ritchie for a rare TVOM! show. So here's the full list, hope to see you there! Wed 29/4 DUISBURG - Steinbruch (TV Smith & Vom Ritchie) Early show - on stage 20:30! Thu 30/4 BREMEN - Lila Eule (TV solo). Fri 1/5 HELIGOLAND - Rock'n'Roll Butterfahrt festival (TV solo - I hope to bring the band back for next year!). Sat 2/5 CUXHAVEN - Musikbar Franzler (TV solo). Sun 3/5 ESSEN - Anyway (this was always planned as a solo gig and still is!) VERY EARLY show because it's Sunday. Doors 17:00, on stage 18:00!!

Hey TUTS. I'm going with Smit to see Teev in Scarborough on 11th September, anyone fancy TV by the sea?

Three main reasons for this choice...

1. TV Smith live in a town I've never seen him play live before.
2. Smit chose Scarborough as the place that he'd love to have an Ale Knights Adventure pub crawl around in 2015.
3. It's Smit's Birthday weekend.

Have it!

S ' pose it depends upon what slot Tim gets. Considering that the last Sunday night act is normally off at 11.30, twenty minutes to get to Liverpool St isn't possible. He'll certainly get the headline act but it doesn't always follow that that'll be the last act.

Even so, I'll probably drive to avoid missing the last Overground train.

Not all the gigs get in the gig list, Phil! It was a private gig for the 50th birthday party of my friend Thierry, who first invited Cheap and Captain Sensible to play a notorious couple of gigs in Paris in the early '90s, then went on to organise solo gigs for me all over France over the next few years and released the French edition of "Immortal Rich" on his own label Datcha.

Magnificently.  Don't think I've ever enjoyed myself more at a TV gig or seen the crowd (or, at least, a decent section of it down the front) go quite so mental - especially on Bombsite Boys and One Chord Wonders.  All Adverts songs, of course, apart from a surprise bonus of Lord's Prayer at the end.

Set list (from memory, so not in order): all of Red Sea apart from New Church and Drowning Men, Male Assault, Television's Over, Back From the Dead, We Who Wait , a (great) slowed down version of Gary Gilmore, and Lord's Prayer.

One down, two to go.

Set list from Friday (I'm certain of this as I have a copy):

Tomahawk Cruise
Only One Flavour
My String Will Snap
Ready For the Axe
I Delete
Like a Rocket
2nd Class Citizens
Replay
Lion & Lamb
Expensive being Poor
Immortal Rich
Good Times Are Back
Runaway Train Driver

Good size audience, fewer than Thursday (in a smaller hall) probabaly split 50-50 between die-hard TV enthusiasts and the curious/ less familiar.

Of course, it was brilliant - especially to hear these most of songs played by a band for the first time.

Sunday: TV initially embarrassed by being cheered before he was ready to go on, gently rebuking those who did so (guilty parties: primarily Rob-C and Dianne*).

No printed set list, so TV either had it all in his head or just did whatever he thought of at the time - and was at times as punked up as is humanly possible on acoustic guitar.  A special guest called Ross appeared on stage to provide ukulele accompaniment on 'We Who Wait'....no previous rehearsal undertaken (I think they'd just met on the day), but you'd never have known.  Leigh Heggarty joined to play on the last few numbers, culminating in One Chord Wonders.  45 minutes of TV bliss - a run through of the usual great stuff + (I think) one new song.  Now if only he could fit in 'Clone Town'.

* - v sweet girl - TV fan for just the last 2 years, but probably the most obsessed TV fan I've ever met.

Great gig in Scarborough on friday. Dodgy lookingworking men's club turned out to be agood venue.Joe Solo, who supported, was excellent too. Apparently The Adverts played Scarborough Penthouse back in 77 but TV had no recollection of that, so as far as he was concerned this was his first gig in Scarborough. Hopefully not the last. Great gig last night at The Victoria Inn at Lostock Hall, which is really a large village on the outskirts of Preston so I was not expecting many people there (and neither was TV) so it was a pleasant surprise to find that by the time TV came on at 10 pm the place was  packed out  with a really enthusiastic crowd ! All the usual songs were there with a mix of Adverts/solo stuff with the crowd lapping up every song. He also played Shipwrecked (On the rocks of love) from the early 80`s demo`s which I`ve never heard him do live before. I thought the set was over when he played GGY and One chord Wonders but the Audience just wouldn`t let him go and he did two more , one of them was Happy Homeland, another I don`t think I`ve heard him do live before. All in all about 1-45 mins with a really good mix of young and old(er) loving every minute. It`s always great at a TV Smith gig to hear a couple of lads in their mid 20`s talking in between numbers and saying "hell this guy`s brilliant".
Just a word about Deadwood Dog the support band (Who I think invited TV to play the gig) , I`ve seen them twice now and they too are great to watch, can`t put them into a music catagory as one of them plays a Greek Bouzouki and they play different songs in different styles but they did play a stunning version of the OMD song "Electricity". Roll on November at Leeds Library.

Good to see TJ again and said hi to Alan Grundy too.

Tomorrow in 1977, the Adverts were on at the Penthouse, Scarborough.  So that is September 23rd.

Saturday, 26th September 2015.  The Flowerpot, Maidstone.

Duly arrived with Mrs T at this great pub just off the centre of Maidstone.  The aforesaid Mrs T spotted an empty table and was off like a cruise missile (get it?) and staked her claim, she was set for the evening now!!

There were 2 supports, the first did a 20 minute set and let's just say had a go..  Even with a set list and lyrics, he did not know the names of 3 of his 4 songs, his 4th was  a cover, which I am glad he told us, as I hadn't heard that one either. One saving grace was that he stayed for TV's set and chatted after.

Next up was a girl singer/guitarist with a double-bass player.  Sounded like a "Lily Allen" clone, she did a 45 min set....

TV was ready to go at 22.30 and with a curfew at 23.30 produced a good mix of his songs, 20 in all, a good sized crowd 50 ish were very well entertained.

Flavour, Delete, 21, Replay, CITL, Saved my life, Lion, Tommy, Warming up, Complaints, Expensive, Weak Glue, Homeland, Imm Rich, GBM, Gen Y, Good Times, GGE, BT, OCW

An excellent evening all round.  TV, Wales winning the egg and Millwall winning so Shane & Mrs Shane were happy!!!!!

I should have also mentioned the shameless plug for http://www.brookguitars.com/index.html,  after Replay.

And so, it is time for TV Smith to entertain as only he can. I saw his Adverts set at Rebellion, but missed the acoustic set, so I’d been looking forward to tonight and wasn’t disappointed. TV has a wealth of solo material to draw on, so we are treated to newer classics (to me) like ‘I Delete’ and ‘Expensive Being Poor’, with an intimate chat between songs. Encouraging us to dig deep for funds tonight, his songs hit the right balance of political conscience and social awareness. There’s no preaching or heavy handed ideology, just a man with a guitar and a desire to connect.

Its always Fun to read "Rare TVom Show" on the giglist. I had more TVOM Gigs in the past 2 Years as SoloGigs  ;D

And seems i have to cancel it anyway, i´m on the way to get a cold (again  >:( ) anyone else i wanted to go with is sick too. And because the Gig is freaking late no train to home till 6:30. I was really looking forward to it but it seems not really possible

Excellent (as always!) show in Northampton last Saturday. The turnout wasn't great (word had it that a lot of people who would have attended were at the Skegness Festival).
Nice venue (bit posher than some) with support from Pat Fish (from Jazz Butcher) who came across (to me anyway) as a slightly dishevelled Brian Ferry. Some nice sounding acoustic songs but the lyrics didn't seem to make much sense although (bit of historical trivia of here) Genghis Khan liked a bit fish!
TV managed to slot in 24 songs in about 80 minutes. The jewel(s) in the crown being the new composition "Keys To The World" and "Happy Homeland" - even more relevant after all this time.
Bit pee'd off with the DJ though who walked behind Tim whilst he was still playing and started the disco before the applause for "One Chord Wonders" was over putting paid to any chance of an encore. How rude! Did he not realise who the star of the show was.

Hi Dianne, it was a bloody good night wasn't it?! Really enjoyed seeing Suzy & Los Quattro for the first time and then TV and the Bored Teenagers just stormed through the Adverts songs and then such a brilliant long encore of non-Adverts stuff, almost a second set! Didn't get to meet you but great to see Alan, Chris and assorted friends / family, TJ, BBQ and TV again!

Great night !! Good to see you again Alan and thanks to TJ for the trip around the real Ale pubs prior to the gig ! A very pleasant suprise was the encore of non Adverts stuff (I delete, Good times are back, Immortal Rich etc etc).

Same show in Edinburgh as in Leeds, except that there was time to do 2 additional songs at the 2nd encore.....in addition to My String Will Snap, they added Lord's Prayer and Runaway Train Driver.

So, sorry, Dianne, that I saw those and you didn't.

Really amazing to see the Bored Teenagers play their first ever gig in Scotland (and Suzy y Los Quattro too).

Was going to go to Derby but instead will be with the wonderful girl I met at Tv's Ivory Black's gig in Glasgow on 12 Sep, so TV only has himself to blame for his audience diminishing by 1 tomorrow!

Punk IPA may sound like a great beer to have on at a TV Smith & Bored Teenagers play The Adverts gig, but it was very, very, very strong.

Great to freak out at the front with TV. Who went even more crazy than I did. It was a 'I need a serious drug' night and Punk IPA and the front row pogoing with TV is MY serious drug.

Thank you to TV's official biggest fan for the life home. Where's Bill? The last time someone took me home in the completely wrong direction to where they lived was C5. ...And we dedicated the whole site and a Backstage Bob song to him.

Great to go out with Claret and family. Mate, two pubs is so not a pub crawl. I had so many more in mind.

Good to see you BBQ, Alan Smith and of course Teev.

What a night!

THE GOOD TIMES ARE BACK!!!

Rob-C,
was great to talk to you again...pleased that TV's Edinburgh gig was equally as well received.  Must say though, when speaking of the extended encore there, the "So sorry, Dianne, that I saw those and you didn't" was somewhat lacking in sincerity  ;)
 - by the way, you're still welcome to stay at our hotel in Gateshead if you can make it!

Thank you to Mr Smith for donning the Clone Town T-shirt prior to the gig - it really was the cherry on top of a fantastic night (and apologies for the excessive screaming!!)

And so, by popular demand...

So, the request, back in April/May by my sister was "I fancy the Christmas markets", so, after a confirmation of dates, with our main man, I duly book a weekend in Dusseldorf, not telling her that TVom were playing.

So after arriving in Duss on Friday afternoon, we had a look-see at the Xmas market and then a bright spark! suggested, "do you fancy a small club that I know, which has great live-music"!! and so we made our way to The Pitcher, I asked her to go & see who was on, she came back with a quizzical look and said "It's TVOM"...  but It's "sold-out"...  Bloody good job I got 2 tickets then...  A whack on the arm later and we were in....

First night, we were placed about half-way down the hall,  TVOM commenced at 2015 to a "packed-house", which included several "crowd-surfers", which, for me was rather annoying, but then I am getting old!!!.  The "highlight" was 1 aforesaid surfer cling to a "air-conditioning unit" which "naturally" decided that it did not like being manhandled and came away from the celing....   Anyhow, I am rambling....  the set-list was.

All with Vom on drums.

Not a bad day, 21, CITL, Exprensive, Imm Rich, Worn Once, Cant Pay, Xmas, Gen Y, Open Up, Pushed Again, Delete, String. True Believe, Festival, Big Fish, Axe, Lord Prayer, Lion, GGE, BT, OCW.   1st Encore  Flavour, Drink, Good Times.   2nd Encore  RTD   and finish at 2153 for a 2200 curfew.     Thomas Schnieder played on all from Delete.

Days 2 & 3 were a mixture of sightseeing, which I shall not bore you too much with, but it entailed a visit to the wonderful Schweberbahn (Suspension Railway) in Wuppertal (as featured in the Bored Teenagers film) and then Koln Xmas Market. Arriving back at the Pitcher and parking ourselves right at the front and Day 2 again started at 2015, with

Ticket, Bull, 21, Weak Glue, Useless, Expensive, Imm Rich, Gen Y, Happy Homeland, London Hum, Warming, Day Dreaming, Arms,  Then with Thomas onwards..  Lion, Replay, Delete, 2nd Class Cit, Right Hands, String, Axe, Lords, GG, BT, OCW.   1st encore..  Flavour, Strachmann, Good Times,   2nd Encore   True Belive, RTD  and finish at 2150.

Day 3, was a visit to Koblenz Market and then back to Pitcher for Day 3, which was a "best of Day 1 & 2"

This time at the front again, pertched on the speaker, with my decent camera so, hopefully some decent shots

Bull, 21 Expensive, Imm, Open Up, Gen Y, Saved my life, London, Warming, Pushed, Day Dreaming, Arms.   With Thomas onwards..  Lion, Replay, Delete, String, 2nd Class, Festival, Right Hands, Fish, Axe, Lords, GG BT, OCW.   1st Encore  Flavour, Drink, Good Times.    2nd Encore  RTD.

And so you should have 84 song listed above.

Hopefully some photos along soon..

Good to report that Klaus (2/3 nights) & Sylvia (1) were spotted in attendance.

And so dear readers my notes from a excellent weekend.

I thank you.......

::)

Liest du eigentlich was ich schreibe?

Trouble is, as this pic suggests, that Rummelsnuff seems to be the "headliner" at this show:

That was it, last night was my 50th TV Smith gig! And it was a good one!  8)

I arrive to find Tim and Ilona on the staircase leading upwards to the "Club Thing" (a youth club placed in some kind of electric transformer station on the outskirts of the town of Metzingen). It is nice to arrive to familiar faces!  :) Soon Wolfgang arrives too (who'd parked the car - parking space nearby is a bit of a problem) and also we meet Meike & Co. inside!

The club is pretty full (and smokey too - strange thing with the anti-smoking law that it seems to be no problem in a youth club, eh?) and there is a nice stage, Tim says the sound is very good.

Then he's about to start to a good-numbered audience (there are a few faces I think I've seen before at his gigs) and it seems like he's on fire!! Very energetic show and crowd asks him back for 2 encores!

Here's some kind of a setlist (I wrote it down at home, thus the order isn't correct apart from the first few and last few songs - also when I woke up this morning I added a few I'd forgotten!):

Only One Flavour
Clone Town
No Time To Be 21
The Future Used To Be Better
We Who Wait
Coming In To Land
Expensive Being Poor
Useless
Happy Homeland
Immortal Rich
Lion & the lamb
Keys to the world
Big Fish
Replay

In The Arms Of My Enemy

Runaway Train Driver

Well, it seems like I chose a very good one for the # 50!  :)
Highlights for me were: Clone Town (very apt in the town of Metzingen, where there IS a clone town of "factory outlets"!), Coming In To Land (giving me goose bumps, always loved this song), Festival Of Fools (good to hear this one) plus the new song Keys to the world!

Afterwards the merch desk seems pretty crowded (TV brought a small choice of stuff with him). Rummelsnuff are starting their show then and it's pretty clear to me that it won't be my thing tonight after a great TV gig... altough it seems to be a fun show.

I chat to Tim ab bit at the merch desk and outside (where refugees from a nearby container accomodation have made a bonfire - yes "Happy Homeland" was an apt choice too). I thank him for 50 good live shows and say good night...

Happy 50th (gig) Uli - glad you had a good one!

That's a lot of gigs. Not as many as TV of course, but not even he's been at all of his!

Thanks, Fred. Here's a pic I stole from FB:

Well he told me he's been at many more. I think it's very good if he turns up, especially at solo gigs.  ;D

Yep, TV told me on Saturday he hadn't gotten round to update it, but would like to do so soon(ish).
