Violent Femmes 'Love Love Love Love Love' is the first original new song from the band since 2000.

The last Violent Femmes album was 'Freak Magnet' in 2000. Violent Femmes released a one-off cover of Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' in 2008.

'Love Love Love Love Love' will be released on the Violent Femmes Official Record Store Day EP, available on April 18, 2015. The E.P. will be a limited edition 12' with 4 new songs on 180g Champagne Clear 12' Vinyl.

The Violent Femmes haven’t released an album since 2000’s Freak Magnet, but they’re back in the studio working on a new one, according to updates they’ve been posting to their official Facebook page.

The group broke up in 2009 after some legal disputes involving music rights, before performing at Coachella in 2013, a performance that signaled the band’s reunion. “We’re playing it by ear, seeing how things go,” bassist Brian Ritchie told EW at the time. “We don’t have any plans not to continue. We’ll continue as long as it makes sense.”

And, apparently, it still makes sense: One Facebook update features a photo of the band in the recording studio with the caption, “Yes, we are busy these days!” while others posted in the last few days specify they are mastering the album, which is set to debut in 2016.

The 1982 self-titled debut from the Violent Femmes is a near-perfect ball of tuneful anxiety; it’s basically a perfect album. And while the band never released another one of those, they spent the ’80s and early ’90s cranking out great songs at an alarming clip.

For some reason, I always thought the 2nd album "Hallowed Ground" was as good as the first one.  8)

Me too, about time after all those articles.
Saw them live in London late '99 and again after the "Freak Magnet" album release a few months later in Stuttgart.
After that not much happened any more.

Certainly all inspired by TV's 80s demo "Carrying On" (later recorded for Misinformation Overload)!  ;D
