You beat me to it.
Must admit I'll probably give it a miss, the drive to Karlsruhe was too long last time (considering TV only played like 40 mins).

How long was the drive?

Longer than the gig! Nearing 2 hours I guess. (And you gotta drive back late at night in winter time...)

I've been doing some longer drives to TV gigs (but then he had his time of 2+ hours at his own shows).
Seen UK Subs + TV in Pforzheim, Stuttgart & Karlsruhe over the last few years (missed Stuttgart this year due to snow)!

Before the new year, there'll be a show nearby (in Metzingen), so I'm looking forward to that!
(And if weather, time etc. allows it, I might still consider Karlsruhe in 2016...)

Wimp!

Yeah yeah, I know...  :-\
But I must admit I'm not the biggest UK Subs fan (did see them in '95, 2001, in 2012 I even walked out after some songs! bad sound & all of them sounded the same, 2013 & 2014).  ::)

I've been told about another possible gig in early January in London.
But nothing official has been announced and it's not listed on the venue website.
When I'm given permission I might mention it again...   ;D

Not listed her yet but 8th January at The Steamboat in Ipswich.
With The Pukes and Rampton Disco.

Assuming the car passes it's M.O.T. tomorrow without any new expense we'll be doing that.

We always use the Novatel at Grey Friars Rd.
Been using it for about 10 years so we're now regular customers with discount card.
This time it's costing us £41 (total, not each) but it has cost us as much as £75 in the past.
It's far superior to any Travelodge or Premier Inn.
But we also don't pay the little bit extra for breakfast 'cause we're never up for breakfast.
It's a pretty straight forward 10 minute stroll to the Steamboat and they don't care if we roll up drunk at 4am after the gigs (hence the no breakfast).
We'll probably do our usual thing of going up after lunch and finding a restaurant then heading down to the pub in the late afternoon.

Ps. Also still waiting for information about a gig at the 100 Club that's supposed to be on the 3rd or 4th of January. Supposed to be part of the 40th Anniversary 'Punk London' thing that kicks off with the 'Resolution Festival'. But details are slow to come.

Post by: Rockula on January 06, 2016, 02:37:04 PM
Great night.
Saw Fleagle, Shane, Gaye, Matt (Chelsea) and lots of other old friends.

'Ed Banger & The Nosebleeds' were pure punk'n' roll and high camp. They've got ex-Slaughter And The Dogs drummer Brian "Mad Muffet" Grantham. Frankly, they played Slaughter & The Dogs songs better than Slaughter & The Dogs do now. We got 'Runaway', 'Boston Babies' and (my personal favourite) 'You're A Bore'. We also got New York Dolls' 'Who Are The Mystery Girls' and the classics 'I Ain't Bin To No Music School' and 'Kinnel Tommy'. Pure entertainment. I'd certainly want to see them play again. Loved it.

TV was brilliant obviously. I don't really do complete set lists (sorry, I'm too busy listening) but he started off with 'Bring The Bull Down', 'Expensive Being Poor', 'Immortal Rich', etc. with Vom bashing the hell out of the kit that he borrowed from Nick (The Members). Then Leigh joined them on stage for a brilliant 'Arms Of My Enemy' and 'Good Times Are Back'. After a few more songs they did some Adverts songs starting with 'No Time To Be 21', 'One Chord Wonders' and 'Bored Teenagers'. Finally they were joined by Segs on bass for 'Gary Gilmore's Eyes'. Bass was a bit 'ropey' but Segs had only played it once before...in the soundcheck. Still fantastic though. A blinding set. I'm sure the others can supply the other song titles I've forgotten due to alcoholic excess.

Everyone knows I'm a Members fan and friend. They did their usual fun set of old classics mixed with newer material from the latest two albums (the latest not officially released until 28th January but available last night on 12" orange vinyl in a gatefold sleeve...old school. :) ). Yes, we got 'Solitary Confinement', 'Offshore Banking Business' and 'Sound Of The Suburbs'. We got cheerful banter and some awful puns from JC which is part of the way they do things these days. And having Nigel back on wild lead guitar is great. We also got a couple of songs off that new album 'One Law' including the singalong 'Chelsea Aggro' which was on the free CD with the last 'Vive Le Rock' magazine. They encored with a great extended version of Larry Wallis' 'Police Car'.

Then we hung around the bar for an hour or so and I ended up having 6 pints of ale on top of the 2 I'd had down at 'The Ship' before the soundchecks. I was a bit wobbly by the time I got home and I didn't get up 'til mid-day.

Last time I saw them was at Rebellion and I thought it was a perfunctory, cabaret set.
Can't speak for the more recent shows 'cause I wasn't there.

Unusually for me, I didn't make a note of the set list - I was having too good a time. But Lion & The Lamb was certainly in there, as was Generation Y. I think there were others. The set went down really well though. Vom and TV, Leigh, Vom and TV, Segs, Leigh, Vom and TV...all variations worked. Tim hit a bum note during one song which shocked Leigh and Vom so much that they both swiveled their heads to stare at him in disbelief...ok, make that piss-taking grins! Tim later blamed this on 'the drummer hitting the drums so bloody hard' - a good excuse but...I'll be checking next time!

As Fleags said afterwards 'You'll not see the likes of that set too often'

Let's hope he's wrong  :)

Great news - Vom Ritchie will be joining me on stage at the SO36 tonight for our first ever TVOM! show in Berlin. Hope to have another surprise guest along too. Be aware, that it's quite an early show by Berlin standards - Vom and me will be on stage soon after 20:00.

Fantastic night at the TV gig last night at the Dulcimer in Chorlton, Manchester. Couldn`t get there till late so only got to see TV`s set, he came on at 9-45 and did until 11-30, all the usual songs were in there and he also played a new song "Keys to the World" which sounded great and also played Atlantic Tunnel which was a real treat as I have not heard him play that one live for quite a few years.
Nice gig venue this one with the (Small ish) music room upstairs, a long room but very narrow so places near the front were at a premium, probably about 60 people in up there.

Yeah good to meet you too finally! Missed you at the end again though - you're off faster than Usain Bolt after the encores!
Nice to meet up again with Dianne & Marco as well.
Must agree with you about the gig my first of the year and a cracker. The supports were great as well Dog Coffee (although I am a bit biased as he's my son) and Harvey's Rabbit (surely Harvey WAS the rabbit in the James Stewart film) who TV knew from years ago and hadn't played together for 16 years though it didn't show.

Hi Rob - good to meet you yesterday!

An unusual gig venue, but friendly enough (if a little noisy!), and with great beer and character Good to also see Fred and Alan (the other one, I am not yet talking about myself in the third person), and Paula also enjoyed her first TV gig in a few years.

Good also to hear new song Keys, amongst the usual diverse selection of songs, and unusual radio edit version of the servant...

Now debating whether to make it up to Nuneaton tonight... last time there I failed a job interview in around 1983... just think if I had got it 'Crew' could be my local but as it is its almost a 2 hour drive...

C'mon Alan, you know you want to!

Yep, an usual gig alright as it turned out to be a birthday celebration for (yet another!) Alan. This meant that whilst about 3/4 of the people were there for the gig, the rest were happy to just chat (OR SHOULD THAT BE SHOUT!) over the music. Anyway, bad form to ask them to shut up in the circumstances.

It's also the first TV gig I've seen where an encore was prevented by a 'stage' invasion of punters wanting to buy merch! At least it gave me a chance to catch up with a few familiar faces and meet Rob.

What will tonight hold I wonder?

Yes, another good night in a nice enough 'rock bar' venue. Shame there were so many drunken evil munchkins coming, going and generally being annoying bored teenagers...

...I must be getting old...

Good to have a nice quiet chat (i.e. shouting over the 'rock DJ') with Tim and Alan G.

Unusual stats of the week for playing 'TV Smith Top Trumps':

Peterborough: First TV Smith gig with scatter cushions.

Nuneaton: Second TV gig in a row without an encore (straight into 'rock disco'), but no scatter cushions in a 'rock bar'!

Have fun in York tonight you lucky people.

"Through the rain, through the sleet,

The warp and weft of the city streets,

Through the sleet, the snow,

Where I'm going, I no longer know,

Soon as I found it, I lost it."

My SatNav connection that is.

The weather was so awful yesterday that I had to stop and reset it as it couldn't cope with the atrocious conditions. I set off from Nottingham with only cloud but soon passed through absolutely torrential rain, hail, sleet, snow and a thunder storm. After an hour I was only where I would usually be in 20 minutes, so I thought about turning back...

...but I pressed on and a journey of just over an hour became one of 2 and a half hours.

Was it worth it?

Of course it was! The latest TV gig to be organised by those lovely, lovely Eastfield types was in Wellingborough. My first visit there, but easy to find and park up. I quickly met Alan G and TV, etc. and had a nice chat where I didn't moan about cars, car insurance, driving and weather conditions at all.

The main event was very Adverts-heavy to begin with (no bad thing), but then moved into more recent material including a new song to my ears called "No Hope Street" (I would guess). This is a great song and I hope to hear it again soon. TV supplied his thoughts on a range of subjects between songs including who we should vote to exploit/lie/cheat us - the UK Government or the EU? He even played an 'unrecorded song' about this - can you guess which one it was? I'll give you a clue - he has recorded it (Must be awful to have so many songs that your memory can't cope!).

The only (invited) request was for Atlantic Tunnel, which tied in nicely with the "Who should the UK be 'linked' with?" debate. The usual trio of early Adverts classics closed the show and were warmly received.

So after another couple of chats (Alan -  pleasure as ever Sir, TV - you're right, you can never go back there after lying to the crowd so blatantly!) it was time to hit the road. No problems on the way home I'm glad to report.

A great night that (almost) made up for missing the punk rock legend's Stourbridge debut!

So the call from Fleagle was "do you fancy Brussels?", now assuming that he wasn't taking sprouts, I applied for the leave (well told Mrs Taff that I was going!!)

After a nice leisurely trip on Eurostar (3 small bottles of wine for me..  Hic!) we decamped into The Ibis, past the 3 armed guards....  Someone must have blabbed that we were coming..  and after checking in we decided to head to the venue to embibe a couple of the local brews (well churlish not too!)..  Finding aforesaid venue, Magazin 4, basically a warehouse by the river, Fleagues nose was sent to hunt out the ale..  after 15 - 20 minutes...  bugger all!!, so back to the club in time for the doors to open at 7.  Fleagues had done a reccky on the 2 support bands, but armed with a couple of ales, wern't too bad for my taste Adverse96 (Belgian) & Fight & Fires (from Worcester).

The main turn went straight into the set at 9.10pm, and as reviewed at Lexington, straight in..  wham bamm, straight through and off at curfew at 10pm.  Superb set, excellent sound and a mad Brit at the front totally lost in the music..  (I thought, hope nothing filmed!!  sadly not!!)..  Still only 4 weeks until I see out my 50's!!  no time to stay at 59....

The setlist..  21, Safety, Wait, Newboys, My Place, TV Over, Delete, String, Roof, Wheels, Exp, Imm Rich, Dead, bombsite, GBM, GGE, BT, OCE.  Encore of Lion & Lords Prayer.

Time afterwards to purchase Cast of Thousands on white vinyl..  so happy bunny.

Brussels ticked...  Paderborn next...

The Gig yesterday was pretty nice

Good to see the Bored Teenagers again, and those Garlic Booze the Ballroom have. Was Sold Out but some people at front of the Stage was pretty silly, they were anoyed that other people moved (i dont wanna call that dancing because well there were literary no space ...) and touched them. What did they expect? Seats?

Unfortunatly no Lords Prayer that i love as Band version so much, but ok, cant have everything  ;D

Had a blast at this last night.

Met up with Tom Phobic beforehand and entered the very (s)wanky new building, situated right on the Regents Canal, up the side of the massively redeveloped Kings Cross site. Showtime was at 8: exactly the same time as a certain football match was kicking (in more ways than one) off. Never mind...

After a couple of introductory speeches,  Steve Lamaqc took the helm and introduced the guest speakers. First up: TV.

I'd noticed Tim's guitar sitting and waiting, stage left, as I entered the room and sure enough, it soon saw action as TV spoke briefly about his early lyrical scribblings then played two songs, One Chord Wonders and Bored Teenagers. He then read the lyrics as poetry of several more Adverts songs, including GBM, Safety In Numbers, Television's Over, plus (I think?!) the new We Stand Alone which sounded the most poetic of the lot to these ears. He also played GG later on as a request from Lamaqc.

Penny Rimbaud came on and read out several Crass songs. I've never been much of a Crass fan but, fan or not, you have to tip your hat to the passion and focused fury of his lyrics. He's a committed geezer.

Pauline Murray was a real hoot! She rambled a fair bit, apologising for not having done quite as much research as she probably ought and started reading out her Penetration lyrics. But halfway through one, she forgot the words! Quite understandable really. Must be really difficult to quote them out of context. So she tried a new one instead...and forgot that one too!!  ;D

There was supposed to have been a Q&A session afterwards but they ran out of time.

Was planning on leaving reasonably early but, having Tim, Pauline and several others to chat to in the bar afterwards and a couple of bottles of red wine that Tim expertly commandeered from behind the bar for Tom and me, we left really late and barely got back before the Underground closed for the night.

A great night that not even a 92nd minute equaliser could spoil  :)

Good gig Alan?
Yes Fred - great night.
TV never disappoints as you well know!
At the New Adelphi he was ably supported by a young (well young to me) 3 piece "agitprop" local? band and the entertaining folk-punk of Joe Solo (I'd previously seen him supporting TV in Scarborough last year).
As well as the usual suspects, we were treated to a couple of unrecorded songs - "We Stand Alone" & "No Hope Street" as well as a rare outing for "I Know What You Want".
Bit of trivia:
Firstly, the gig was promoted by Danny who was TV's driver in chapter one of GETTING THERE: Punk Rock Tour Diaries, volume one.
Secondly, The New Adelphi doesn't seem to have been decorated since the last time I was there in 1998!

One point of information: I think that it is actually illegal for any venue to be redecorated. If it isn't I've never seen any evidence to the contrary!

The highlight was the brilliant new song- another TV classic. Picked up an old band mate from Major Accident on the way. He wasn't familiar waith TV's solo stuff but was, not surprisingly, very impressed and bought March of the Giants. Members were good too- nice to see he brilliant Nigel Bennet in action again. Very enjoyable evening in Preston last night too ! enjoyed the Members and we thought TV would only get 50 mins as I thought there was a Curfew at 11 pm, nothing of the sort TV left the stage after about 1 and a half hours. Nice to meet up with Alan Grundy again and also met Dianne (the Peculiar One). The Continental really is a fantastic venue, smart inside with a conservatory on the back and a massive beer garden with the sound proof gig venue through a small bar around the side of the building. Great night

Good news! I've just heard from my old mate Vom that he's able to join me for the first three dates of the upcoming German tour. So Schwäbisch Gmund on the 22nd, Sudwinsen Umsonst & Draußen on the 23rd, and Düsseldorf HDJ Café on the 24th will all now be TVOM!

Not so good news for me, as I've promised a mate that I'll be available around the 22nd (he's rehearsing with a "goth rock" band, pretends to be an Englishman when he's singing for them), if they happen to need a roadie.  ;)
Also, on the same day there's a gig by Chelsea and Guitar Gangsters.  :(
Well if I'd get the chance, I'd prefer a TVom Gig!

Ha ha, trouble is I knew TV would play, well I thought I'm going to see him a week later... but now it's a TVom show.  ::)
Ah well, maybe I won't be allowed to be there for the rehearsals (or a secret gig) anyway, so...  8)

Could not find any info about schedules/bands for this evening. Turned out it is a festival Fr & Sat to celebrate the 15th anniversary of "Esperanza" (youth club). They didn't want people to find out who plays when, they just wanted you to come and celebrate with them! A short message to Tim, he replied and I knew he and Vom were about to start at 11pm (according to contract). Enough time for me to make it without hurry.
Oh well, the journey to Schwaebisch Gmuend was not too easy though, it was hot but cloudy, a few kilometres before arriving there was heavy rain, but when I parked my car near Esperanza on the Lidl parking lot, it was dry and temperatures were acceptable.
Good thing was (is) for this festival you're free to pay what you like to give! 8) I gave them a tenner and received a wristband (would be valid today as well). Outside was a bit of a 'cocktail bar' and some seats, inside the building it was ridiculously hot (and they had to close the doors when the bands played)... Couldn't find Ilona & Wolfgang, but met Tim at the merch table, where he was laying out his stuff. Vom came up to me and said hello (I reminded him about the email interview we'd done a few years ago for this forum), this was the first time I saw him at a TVom gig and he wasn't surrounded by DTH fans wanting autographs and stuff... he seemed to enjoy that "freedom".  ;)
He showed me the Cryssis 7" single for sale (with a free compilation cd "Rheinland") for 7 Euro. I promised to buy it later.

Outside the other door of the club there was a stand with alternative clothing plus one with veggie food. I got myself a "bean wrap" freshly made by a friendly young lady for a mere 2,50. It tasted very good!!
Inside, the band "Argies" from Argentina (no surprise here), finished soundcheck and were about to start playing. http://argies.net/
I'd heard their name before and they sounded good! Clash fans obviously, as proven by their nice "White Riot" cover, plus they played "Police on my back" (original by The Equals, but I first heard it by The Clash) later, incl. a guitar solo which showed they know a bit about classical music - it was the tune of "Freude schoener Goetterfunken" (Beethoven, lyrics by Schiller)!  8) Their own stuff was good too, punkrock with ska/reggae influences.
Finally I got to see Ilona & Wolfgang, before TVOM! started their set (about 11.20pm).
"Only One Flavour" was the first one, I didn't take notes, so can't provide an exact setlist (sorry), but it contained all the favourites you'd expect: No time to be 21, Bring the bull down, I Delete, Expensive being poor, Lion & the lamb, Immortal Rich, Gen Y, Open up your heart (ok that was unexpected!), Pushed again, My string will snap, GGE, BT, OCW plus 2 encores: Runaway Train Driver & Good times are back!
During the show, I moved from closer to stage to more at the back, where the sound was surprisingly better. Tim and Vom seemed to have fun and spread lots of energy. Not too many DTH fans in the audience, when TV announced "a Tote Hosen song", there was not a lot of cheering - even not when he repeated it!  :o
Also, it was an experiment of sorts: can you get "goose bumps" in 32° C heat? Yes, you can, when you hear a good song!  :D

Afterwards, I chatted to Ilona and Wolfgang for a bit (I think Meike's brother & mate were also there, not sure if they recognised me, I wasn't quite sure to say hello either...), before buying the Cryssis single as promised.  8)

Yep, it was! And the people there were polite & kind, what more could you want.

Yeah right...  ;D
Indeed I'm a bit worried, even smaller towns have their supermarket(s), most of them outside in industrial areas with big parking lots, some of them opened until 9 or 10pm, but when you go there not many people are in. I wonder how they do it, or maybe it's just some kind of "investition" to avoid paying taxes...  :-\

I'll be driving off soon, might be taking some pics on the way to Horb/Muehringen, will also try and take some at the venue: Café AmErika. Actually I was at TV's first gig there back in 2004:

Title: Re: TV Gigs 2016
Post by: Uli on July 29, 2016, 09:25:58 AM
Strange feeling of "deja-vu" at this gig, especially as I remembered my first time in Horb/Muehringen before I went...  :o

With a stop in the nice old town centre of Rottenburg I have a relaxed drive to Horb, find the way to Café AmErika again, on the "parking lot" I discover a white van with a registration plate indicating the driver is from the same region as I am. Indeed the first person I see is Bernhard, who I know from Cakekitchen gigs in 2003/4 and had met him surprisingly here at TV's first show in Horb/Muehringen!  :o
With him is his wife (hadn't met her before), who had expressed desire to see TV live, thus he checked the website and decided to come here again!  :)
The café itself seems a bit run-down compared to the first time I was here. But that might be because it's only opened on special occasions like tonight, as owner Uwe concentrates on his "normal" job. Entry is 14 Euro, I give him 15 - so he can give the place a makeover.  ;) http://www.cafeamerika.de/
The gigs are still in the downstairs room, which hasn't changed much (just a few more spider-webs there now).
Chat to to TV a bit (who came from Bielefeld via train - took 7 hours), then Ilona & Wolfgang arrive. Always nice to have a mini TUTS meeting!
Then support band The Heydays play, they sound pretty tight with a few good songs (German indierock or wotever), their set however seems a bit long for my liking (seeing there'll be another support before TV)... http://www.dieheydays.de/
Afterwards Michel (singer from a band called Wilde Zeiten) performs his thing, some kind of "punkrock karaoke" (which makes people sing along) featuring songs from DTH and more.
When TV comes onstage to do soundcheck, he receives a big cheer already, which leads to him doing a very short soundcheck (just one chord...  ;)), then starting the gig! After a few songs, I get the brilliant idea of writing down the setlist, so I run to Uwe for a pen and a piece of paper. Here goes:

Only One Flavour
No Time To Be 21
The Future Used To Be Better
Coming In To Land
Replay
I Delete
Lion And The Lamb
Useless
No Hope Street
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
Generation Y
Great British Mistake
Land Of The Overdose
My String Will Snap
Pushed Again
The Day We Caught TheBig Fish
Xmas Bloody Xmas
Punkrock Poem
Gary Gilmore's Eyes
Bored Teenagers
One Chord Wonders

Es Stoert Mich Nicht *
Clone Town
Der Stacheldrahtmann
Roll Like A River *
Runaway Train Driver

* both these songs are wishes from audience members, however cut short due TV forgetting the lyrics... long time since he last played them...

The audience is not huge, but everyone seems friendly and happy that TV plays here, they're enjoying themselves! Some of the "hits" still get a lot of singing-along, just like first time(s) I was here in this place. Good thing also that the performs two new songs (both I hadn't heard before)!
Great show, some pics might follow (or not, must check how they turned out).
Bit of aftershow-chat, then it's time to drive home.

Canterbury  Lady Luck.

T.V. made a welcome return to Canterbury after almost 3 years, this time at the very compact Lady Luck.

With support from Russ Crimewave, Punka and The Remains.

Russ & Punka put in very good sets and I liked The Remains (although Mr Slaughterboy, thought otherwise), their set involved such classics as Rockaway Beach, Sheena, I fought The Law as well as Blockbuster & Shang-a-Lang....

But on to the main act...

With only an hour spot because of a 11pm (ish!) curfew, TV was ready at 2200hrs, unfortunately the sound was almost non-existant during the first song, but he soldiered on while the "techie" restrung the speakers and away we went at full tilt from the middle of song 2.   All in all an excellent set and I know that Emma our hostess was more than pleased with the response, a "near capacity" of 75 and the knowledge that my badgering to get her to get TV down was worth it.

So the set-list:-

Flavour, 21, Cast, Replay, CITL, Delete, Lion, Expensive, GBM, Imm Rich, Gen Y, Land of the overdose, String, Good times, Big fish, Punk Rock Poem, GGE, BT, OCW   and the encore of We Who Wait.

So gig 49 for me done, and couple more in the book for 2016!!!.....

Another great gig in Lincoln’s very friendly Jolly Brewer last night. I arrived to find Tim, Alan G and Billy Liar in a rather worryingly empty looking venue – an unusual situation for TV in Lincoln. Rest assured, many more were outside enjoying the fresh air/smoking a fag (Delete as applicable).

I haven’t seen Billy Liar previously (http://www.billyliarmusic.com/), but I’ll certainly seek him out in future. A very powerful performance with just an acoustic guitar and a great vocal delivery style. Very impressive right hand work – softly fingerpicking at times and wildly percussive at others. Billy went down very well and I’d be surprised if he isn’t invited back there soon.

TV took to the stage at 9.45 and delivered his usual hi-power performance, complete with some nice back-and-forth banter with the crowd, so he played some newer material alongside the more established songs and threw in the debut of new song “No Control” – great stuff. Another surprise at the end as Tim and Billy joined forces on OCW and Runaway Train Driver, both of which went down a storm.

I enjoyed it all so much I completely forgot to ask Tim if he was also having a UK launch event for his “Alternative Top 50” book. If you’re going to Bradford tonight, please ask.

Have fun in Yorkshire tonight folks!

It's nice to stumble across new good music when most of your music purchases are back catalogue stuff from the 70's and 80's. Refreshing to listen to. Thanx Fred!

I think it would be no exaggeration to say that TV nailed it at Foremans Bar in Nottingham last night. A full house (Foremans is about the size of an average lounge) was treated to a gig straight out of TV's top drawer. The place was rocking. At one point when TV was blasting out One Chord Wonders I thought if anyone is walking past they would realise that they missed out on the best party in Nottingham. It was truly fantastic.
Special mention to support act Louise Distras, she is really good, great voice and commands the stage.

Shame I missed such a good one - but glad it was a great night!

It would've been good to catch up Class - next time!

Joined up with Fred at the gig, we both said we missed you. Basically any East Midlands ish gig should have Alan there. Here's to next time mate.

True, very true.

Here's (almost) a review, of last night from the bloke that made me look small, talked through all the acts and kept barging to the bar as he got steadily more pissed:

What do you mean he could have written this without even being there? He practically wasn't!

Glad it wasn't just me that our intrepid reporter pissed off! What amused me most was that when Louise started some live internet broadcast thingy he paid that more attention on his phone than he had to her set.
Yes, great show from TV (& Louise) and good to met up with you again and Class of 79 (for the first time).

My mate just sent me this from Foremans:

"Thanks to Tim Smith and Louise Distras for making Sunday a memorable night, brilliant sets by both. I can only apologise for the 1% of idiots that spoke consistently during the sets. Even after Louise politely asked for them to be quiet they continued. Well our message to you is people don't pay good money to listen to your inane conversations. You are not welcome in Foremans if you are going to wreck other peoples enjoyment of the night. So I suggest you fuck off to another bar where you can discuss your own self importance all night long.

Rant over."

That "reviewer" was the loudest offender by far!

Actually, since there were only about 50 people there and 1% of people kept talking during the acts, that makes him an official half-wit!

So another round of Wales football was in the offing in Cardiff on Saturday and lo & behold our songsmith was playing in Reading on the Friday night..  so it was churlish not to arrange something...

Or hotel had entitled us to free drinkies and canapes in the "Club Lounge" before we left for the venue, so dear readers, 2 bottles of Rose were duly quaffed (there were 2 of us!!, before any suggests that I am a piss-head)..  and off we went (with a trumpety-trump) to the Queens Arms.   Shock horror!!! NO real ale on tap, only bottles of Fursty Ferret and then only 4 bottles..  I mean how is a growing lad supposed to survive!!!.

There were 3 supports on, the first being an excellent outfit called The Rumpo Kidz who were a 12 piece..  12, I kid you not and they played various instrument including washboard, jugs and generally had a good time with a variety of tunes ranging from Bankrobber to, Chip Shop Elvis.. all very sing-alongable too.  They did a 35 mins set before giving way to Seasons in Shorthand and then Bear Woods, both of whom were "solo's"

TV began his set just after 1030 to a crowd of about 50 and we bounced and sang along to:---

Flavour, Keys, 21, Safety, We stand alone, CITL, Replay, Delete, Lion, No Hope Street, Expensive, Imm Rich, GBM, Gen Y, No Control, String, Open up, My Place, TV Over, What if, Arms, GGE, BT, OCW, Good Times and RTD  70ish minutes in total then a brief stop at the merch for the new book suitably endorsed....   Yet another excellent night on the grand tour..

Saturday saw a drive to South Wales for footy in Newport (1300hrs Kick-off) and then Wales V Serbia (1945)..  Well at least neither of my sides here were defeated...

Due to me messing up my gig-list, and claiming 2 gigs in Paderborn...  Friday was my 49th..  looks like 50 will have to wait until next year..   A couple in mind.....

Until then dear readers......

Since when TV have a new Guitar?

Nice Set in Düsseldorf, it was planed to Play without Vom, because he was busy with Recording with a Small Band named "Die Toten Hosen" but he still found time to be at this gig. So TV played first Solo a few Songs, all new, including No Control, and Sunny Side Up. (Setlist ist in the Archives)

Then a short Set with Vom and for the next Batch of Songs Thomas Schneider also joined. Was a great gig. And it seems there are nearly Enough Songs for a new Album

Written Out
Green Zone
Keys to the World
No Hope Street
Satelites
We Stand Alone
Never again Until the Next Time
Land of the Overdose
No Control
Sunny Side Up

Since when TV have a new Guitar?

You're not on Facebook, I guess?
Tim announced there:
Quote
The new guitar and I are about to head off to Germany for a gig at the Hannebambel in Aschaffenburg tonight, then at the Pitcher in Düsseldorf tomorrow. Not many tickets left for the Pitcher, and as always the gig there starts around 8:30, so come early if you want to be sure of getting in.

@TV fans: I don't have the time to share each and every bit of news (from Facebook or elsewhere), although I do try. ;) Thus, unless you want this forum to die, share these news & reviews & thoughts!

Nope, no Facebook here.

TV with a new guitar was a bit weird to see, when i remember the accident back in 2009

And there was other trouble since then, when an airline broke it. This why with the new one it is easy to disassemble:

Time to unpin this and pin the 2017 thread up top instead?

If we don't do this, a stupid person could mention a gig in totally the wrong year!

Hang on, too late...

Yep, pinning something was not what I'd expected to do. Not too exhausting though...  ;)

So maybe, just maybe I'll work on something, you indeed got me thinking of doing an interview, which might (or might not) happen this year.  :o
