Title: New Album 2018
Post by: EastKentTaff on February 23, 2018, 11:29:39 AM
Album is going well, there is a title, but it was not forthcoming from the man as it may change. 1 thing though gleaned us that Tim is playing ALL the instruments.. First half of the year possible.

Really looking forward to this. TV said it might be out soon(ish)... and he wants to tour extensively (but when doesn't he?)!  :)

Any news on this? TV, Klaus, anyone?

Back in February, TV reckoned it might even be out in the first half of the year, but I guess we'd have heard about that by now! In any way, I'm looking forward to a new release, whenever it'll come out.  8)

Working on getting it released right now, Uli. I guess the first half of the year isn't realistic any more but I hope to have some news about it for you very soon.

I'll just look in whenever I can... (morning, noon...).

So...just a first bit of information here for you faithful TUTS before the news gets released later today. The new album is titled "Land Of The Overdose" and will be released in Germany on 14th September by JKP/Warners. I'm not sure about a UK release yet, but obviously I'll have copies available by mail order through this site and at gigs, and there should be links up in the next few days to order direct from the label. Tour dates to support the release are already up on the front page. There are twelve new songs on the record, and for the first time ever I've played all the instruments on the recordings myself. The album has been once again mixed by Jon Caffery and will be available as a CD, LP and download. Track list: No Control, We Stand Alone, Land Of The Overdose, Satellites, Keys To The World, Green Zone, No Hope Street, Never Again Until The Next Time, Sunny Side Up, File It Under Not My Problem, Written Out, Last Lost Sheep.

Thanks for the exclusive news, TV! Getting excited about the new album now... track list & song titles sound promising!

Perfect timing btw, this is my post #9999 here! It's wonderful that I can post it about album news.  8)

Cheers Teev - Amazon.de here we come?!

Question then?  Does Teev get just royalties from Amazon et al. or the "full cost"?  Or are we best to wait until we hand over cash to the man himself..  (at least that way, we get it signed too!!!)

Went to Amazon (Germany) but in order to log on I have to put in a number code that they phone through.

Unfortunately I forgot the numbers would also be in German and I didn't have enough time to translate them in my head. :)

My own fault for being impatient.

Just to let you know, due to a technical hitch (me) the release date originally appeared as November 14th on the front page. It is indeed 14th September.
Title: Re: New Album 2018

Direct link to the cd on german amazon, let me know if this works for you in UK!
https://www.amazon.de/Land-Overdose-TV-Smith/dp/B07FDMY36C/ref=tmm_acd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

Question then?  Does Teev get just royalties from Amazon et al. or the "full cost"?  Or are we best to wait until we hand over cash to the man himself...

Well I don't know any details, but I'm sure amazon gets a "cut" from the sales, so I guess it is better for TV to buy from him at the gigs.
Btw, TV announced "obviously I'll have copies available by mail order through this site", which should be good & easy!
(Apparently we can't order directly from JKP, they give links to jpc, amazon etc., thus what remains is shop, mailorder or the merch table?)

TV's link from the front page takes you to Amazon and, whisper this, there has been talk previously about a concerted effort to buy from Amazon to obtain a placing in something called "the sales chart".

Just saying...

Message ends.

Took me to JKP, then there was the amazon link among others.

I will start a new topic about the album in "TV Songs", where we'll discuss the music, while we can keep discussing how to order/buy... here.

Yeah well, it could be possible... I remember back in 2008, when I'd pre-ordered ITAOME, TV said it won't make much sense to send it out via mail when he's on tour only shortly before. So he gave it to me secretly in Stuttgart while the Guitar Gangsters played (it was the package tour with GG and The Lurkers), I kept it well-hidden so no-one would see it and think "why can he get the new cd when it's not on the merch desk yet?".  8)

The Royal Mail are GREAT!

Except for the "relief" postman we recently had while our usual postie, Dave the Rocker, was on holiday. I saw him come to our house, but discovered that he'd put a neighbour's mail through our door, so I picked it up and tracked him down and asked him for our mail in exchange. "Oh, I haven't got as far as your house yet" he told me. I looked at him with disbelief and he was honestly puzzled as to why. I asked him "If you haven't got to my house yet, then how can you have just put these through my letter box?", hoping that he would now realise the impossibility of his statement. Nope. He just didn't get it. I tried to spell it out for him, but I was so unconvinced that he'd actually grasped that he MUST have been at my house, or he couldn't possibly have put a neighbour's post through MY letter box, that I insisted on delivering the incorrectly delivered mail for him.

I never saw him again for some reason...

Where's Vic Goddard when you need him?

I can't repeat often enough how great this album is; I've listened to it at home, at work and in the car!

A German review:
https://www.bierschinken.net/review/3299-tv-smith-land-of-the-overdose

A Dutch one:
http://www.rockportaal.nl/tv-smith-land-of-the-overdose/

(Google translate Dutch>German worked pretty well with this one - except when "drummer" became "trompeter"...)

On amazon.co.uk I found this nice review:
Quote
Simply beautiful.

Infectious tunes.

Creative poetry.

Radical honesty.

Truth spoken.

Land Of The Overdose is a triumphant partner to the In The Arms of My Enemy and Coming In To Land trilogy.

TV Smith’s Purple Patch.

Buy it.

Play it.

Love it.

Thank you Teev.
