Just seen this advertised:
TV Smith & The Bored Teenagers - Exchange Bristol 24th May 2019
https://www.seetickets.com/event/tv-smith-and-the-bored-teenagers/exchange/1277148?utm_source=autem&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=pb&src=pbeml
It's the only date so far but I wonder if there's going to be a tour?

More gigs have been added to the official website! I hope I might make it to Nuremberg (because it is a nice town - fond memories of a gig there in late 2011)!

One more gig to add: February 9th Augsburg @Kreuzweise

This is a "special event", it's the last night of that bar, apparently it was possible to reserve tickets via email, but I didn't (decided to leave it to the people who knew and liked the place).
As mentioned, I might go to one of the other shows instead.  8)

First gigs of the year and a couple of belters:
TV's first ever gig in Worcester was at the Marrs Bar - a nice venue and a good turnout on a cold Saturday evening. Highlights included a very rare outing for the topical "Ghost Of Westminster" and a welcome return to the setlist for "Man Down" as well as the more obvious additions. Although this was a first visit to the city, there were some familiar faces from other Midlands gigs and the crowd obviously enjoyed the new stuff (so much so that the new album sold out!) as well as the older tunes.
Sunday saw TV's annual visit to Foreman's in Nottingham - an "intimate" venue - i.e. 50 people and it's rammed.
A nice long set included the first (and possibly only - TV's words not mine) acoustic version of "I Looked At The Sun", "First One To Sign Up" (with a bit of a re-write), "One Million Pounds", "Man Down", "A Step Back" and seven songs from the new album.

Thanks to Alan G. for the first review of the year!  :)

But were they acoustic?

Probably, all EB were "acoustic" and he toured solo in Australia (possibly encore with a band somewhere - but certainly not the "rare" songs)!

I looked at the Sun is still the most Rare Adverts Song

They want 40! Euro per Gig. Thats way to expensive for me. If you do both gigs you have the Price of 1 Robbie Williams gig  :o

So, a visit to the German trade Fair in London in January saw me at the Hamburg desk and Miniturland attraction (basically a model railway +), well there was a offer of a couple of free tickets, so who am I to be churlish to turn them down.  So when to go... enough said, and off we went.. £75 return with BA.. bargain. Excellent flight with BA and we actually landed in Hamburg (let's see who gets that comment!) Friday daytime was spent walking around heading in the general area of the harbour, ready for a booked visit at 1430.  We actually arrived just over a hour early, but no problems getting.in. 4 hours later we are still walking around, it is super. Back to the hotel to change and then off to the Monkey Club. Very easy to find, near to Fabrik in the Altona area of the city. The event was to celebrate Kevin's birthday, and he had invited Les Carter, Duncan Reid and TV to the party, which was labelled The Full English and bollox to Brexit.   Opening the proceedings at 2115 was Les and His latest offering Smokin Donuts.. a 2-hander with Doozer Mcdeeze, a 45 min set, finishing with Sheriff Fatman, one of my favourite CUSM songs. Duncan was next a 1 hour 15 set, with oodles of energy from a talented (and attractive band). Approx 1130, TV was up, he & Sally had been at the Hosen Film nearby and were taken aback by our presence and that of two other Brits who were European virgins as far as TV was concerned. Well 26 songs were forthcoming, eagerly lapped up by the knowledgeable Hamburgers,.. so the list was Flavour, 21, Control, Stand Alone, Keys, CITL, What If, Replay, Delete, Lion, Satellites, Expensive, Imm, GBM, No Hope, Sheep, Drink, Pushed (with Campino), Gen, String, GGE, BT, OCW,  Overdose, Useless & RTD were the 3 encores.   So Campino.. wow, have always been a DTH fan since meeting Vom. Andreas from the band was also there and had a chance for a quick word.  Oh the time was 0110.  Also a nice piece of Merch was obtained... Sally has made Jewelry from Tim's broken strings, which are very nice (plug over Sally) get em while available.. I have asked her for stuff suitable for men... So who knows... Maybe a pendant, ring..... Let's see.   So that is the ramblings of your ertswhile scribe, will get the list up in its rightful place on Monday....  Oh yes I forgot to mention, both Campino &Tim forgot the lyrics of the 4th verse of Pushed... Tsk,Tsk say I.

Wow, Campino as special guest, cool. (Not so cool about forgetting part of the lyrics, but never mind...)

Excellent flight with BA and we actually landed in Hamburg (let's see who gets that comment!)

Yeah, could've been Edinburgh, eh?  ::)

So Campino.. wow, have always been a DTH fan since meeting Vom. Andreas from the band was also there and had a chance for a quick word.

That's a bit confusing, because I think Campino's real name is Andreas as well. I think there are several of them in the band...  ;)

Thanks for the review & setlist!  8)

Oh, I love Google Translate - and The Dead Pants!

"Secret performance in Hamburg Club And once on Campino is on stage!

Ottensen - There are Evenings that simply get stuck in the Memory. Guests experienced One on Friday at the Monkeys Music Club. While punk songwriter T.V. Smith is on stage tuning The Dead Pants ' Song "Pushed Again," one time a Man takes the Stage and pushed his way to the Microphone next to Smith. It's none Other than Campino, the Frontman of The Dead Pants!

And otherwise, Too, Smith and the Dead Hosen have long had a Friendship that dates back to the 1990s. The British Musician took part in some Of the texts of the Dusseldorf. So It can be assumed that at least Smith may not have been completely puzzled by the Support in the Monkeys.

And Campino wasn't entirely by accident in Hamburg, either. On Friday, he presented the Documentary "Because You Only Live Once," showing the Dead Pants on their Tour in 2018, in the Zeise cinemas."

Mind, you, I quite like The Dead Hosen too!

I would say that Campino dont want to have those Cinema visitors follow him to a gig where he wanted to have some fun.

I would have done the same...

Enjoy...

I did!  8)

First of all: review & setlist will be coming soon.

Location: P8, not easy to find. It's in "Pennsylvaniastrasse", which points to it being former US military buildings, now re-used for all kinds of stuff. When I finally found the street, I couldn't spot the location, so I parked the car and got out, looking for a number 8. I saw a letterbox with a 7 on it, so it couldn't be far. Indeed, behind this building I could see a few people standing outside, two of them being Ilove & Wolfgang! Finally I'd made it...
Here's how it looked (no sign, no direction - see the white tent at the back? There is the "P8" club):

This is the (confirmed) setlist.
I sent it to TV ("That looks just about right") and he pointed out a few corrections.

Karlsruhe, P8, May 2nd 2019

True Believers
First One To Sign Up
No Control
No Time To Be 21
We Stand Alone
This Year, Next Year
2nd Class Citizens
Replay
I Delete
Lion & the Lamb
Bring the Bull Down
Useless
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
No Hope Street
Last Lost Sheep
The Drink
Pushed Again
Generation Y
Land Of The Overdose
Gary Gilmore's Eyes
Bored Teenagers
One Chord Wonders

Only One Flavour
Runaway Train Driver

When I finally find the club I say "hello" to Ilove & Wolfgang, good to see them again. (Later, I see Meike in the audience, always nice to meet some TUTS.)
Inside, I am prepared to pay, but I'm told it is a kind of "members only" show, so I'm asked to fill in the membership form; apparently you can get a refund when you return within a week (I guess I won't, it's just too far)!
Well, if I can get to see TV and two support acts for only 10 Euro, of course I'll be the first one to sign up!  ;)  ;D
After this is done, I get to say "hi" to Sally and Tim, always nice to see them.

A support band ("The Beltroses" from Freiburg) is alreay playing, they do rather quiet, acoustic folk & gospel & country-flavoured stuff (guitar, banjo...), including the traditional "Ain't no grave".
After them it's a project called "From 7 to 7" (from Frankfurt), also playing folk & country stuff, including a nice cover of the Rolling Stones' "Dead Roses".

To fit into this "scene", TV starts his gig with what he calls his (kind of) "gospel" song "True Believers", which is a great idea!
What follows are a few "rarities", mixed up with new songs and "the hits". For me it's special to hear "First one to sign up", "This year, next year", "Second Class Citizens", "Bring the bull down" etc.!
The show is full of energy and the audience do a good job of singing along to "The Drink".
The first encore "Only 1 Flavour" is played after someone shouts for it.
Afterwards, everyone seems happy with this gig.  8)

While I've been too busy enjoying the concert to take notes, when it's over I go out to my car, trying to put down the setlist on a piece of paper. Soon I go back inside, to get help from TV, he can fill in a few blanks.
Sally has made some beautiful pieces out of TV's used guitar strings (on offer at the merch table), one day I'll buy one for a special person, I hope.  :)

After a drive of 1,5 hours I'm finally in my hometown, where I see a police car... of course I'm the only driver here in the resident streets, so they do pull me over, wanna see my driver's licence etc. I only had one little beer, so everything's OK and they finally let me go...

Swindon - The Vic 10/05/19

Last Friday saw me making the trip to Swindon for a rare (so far this year) UK gig by TV (perhaps I should move to Germany?!).
After braving thunderstorms, hail, heavy rain (my previous TV gig was in Southend during the Easter heatwave), the everpresent roadworks on our wonderful motorway system and Swindon town centre parking, I finally booked into my hotel and after a quick snack set off to the venue.
The Vic is a nice sized room at the back of a pub with a decent stage and sound system. After a quick word with Tim & Sally it was time for the show. The original listing was for The Charred Hearts to headline but after TV was added, they dropped down the bill. First up were Rage DC billing themselves as "Loud & Lairy punk rock" which I guess they were and the singer and guitarist certainly looked the part although having a Freddie Mercury lookalike on drums did detract from the image!
Next came The Charred Hearts "punk rock since 1981" (although they did disband for a large part of the last 38 years) who although they were from Swindon (and obviously had lots of local fans) for some reason didn't want to associate themselves with the local scene - perhaps they just didn't like XTC?
Finally came the man who I'd travelled 170 miles to see looking resplendant with his new furry guitar strap (it does match the trousers!). After all his years in the "biz" TV had finally been given his own button to the smoke machine although it was largely unused due to male multi-tasking syndrome i.e being unable to sing, play guitar, stamp his feet and press the button at the same time! This withstanding, what followed was up to the usual high standards with a set list as follows (this saves me typing it out again for you Phil):

Only One Flavour
No Time To Be 21
No Control
Green Zone
Coming In To Land
Replay
I Delete
Lion & The Lamb
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
Tomahawk Cruise
No Hope Street
Last Lost Sheep
The Drink
My String Will Snap
Generation Y
Land Of The Overdose
Gary Gilmore's Eyes (with The Charred Hearts' singer on additional vocals)
Bored Teenagers
One Chord Wonders (with a female member of the audience on "we don't give a damns")
Runaway Train Driver

BT drummer.

Sorry, I was too uninformed about the current line-up, the only name I'd get together is Jonathan's.  :-[

In the meantime, TV broke the news on FB:
Quote
It's been a wild weekend building up to the Bored Teenagers tour. Disaster struck a couple of days ago when drummer Stefan broke his leg in a car accident in Barcelona. Thankfully he's okay, but obviously unable to play drums. For a moment it looked like we would have to cancel the tour, but then at the last minute the brilliant Jamie Oliver from the UK Subs agreed to stand in and get behind the drums for us. Thanks Jamie for your genuine punk rock attitude, and to Stefan for gracefully standing aside to let Jamie have a go. This is so exciting, even we don't know what it's gong to sound like! Please come along and witness these never-to-be-repeated performances for yourself: The Bored Teenagers with special guest Jamie Oliver play the Adverts, Wednesday at The Maze in Nottingham, Thursday at the Brudenell in Leeds, Friday at the Exchange in Bristol, and Saturday at Nice'n'Sleazy Festival in Morecambe. See you there!

Stefan wanted to do this tour on a wheelchair! Then the anesthesia faded a bit, and he thought he would let Jamie do it, just this time!

Just back (well late hours of last night) from the four awesome (which isn't a word I use often) TV gigs with The Bored Teenagers. We all know how great Jonathan & Marky are (and that TV bloke ain't too shabby either) but for Jamie to step in at the last minute and pull out the performances that he did was incredible. He had only listened to a recording (I guess the 100 Club one) and not actually played the songs on drums until the 20 minute or so soundcheck at the Nottingham show! Even that sounded spot on.
I'm hoping to get a review on Louder Than War (details if & when) though I'll send you the setlists this coming week Phil.
It was great to meet up with old friends (TJ - anyone remember TJ? and GJ at Leeds) and hopefully to have made a few new ones.
Well, need to carry on making up all the stuff my wife bought from Ikea today - even this penance was worth it for her letting me do the mini tour!

Glad to hear that you've got your ticket out of here and I hope that you have some summer fun and don't end up walking the plank, getting hit by a torpedo or catching any big fish that leave you a man down in the drink like drowning men or shipwrecked on the rocks of love as there's always safety in numbers etc., etc., etc.

Hopefully Admiral Smith will supply a suitably naughty nautical setlist!

Anyway...

Yeah, we talked about Berlin back in May and TV told me it is difficult to "break even" for a promoter with a boat trip (i guess they have to pay more for insurance and stuff).

I had an "invitation" from old friend "loki" (Viola) to Berlin, but I couldn't make it (price seemed high and the long journey put me off)...  :-\

Germi - Milan - 14 September 2019

Arts centre in a quiet street - when not hosting events it is home to a bar and books.

TV played on a low stage to a backdrop of floor to ceiling book cabinets comprising books from every (half-decent) musical genre, and a couple of stylish sofas!

A packed-out and very appreciative crowd, as is evidenced by the number of songs in the encore:

Only One Flavour
Bring the Bull Down
21
We Who Wait
New Church
No Control
Replay
I Delete
Lion & Lamb
TV's Over
Bombsite Boy (pre-request from the centre's curator, whose birthday it was....TV complained that it's the most difficult to play of all his songs)
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
No Hope Street
Last Lost Sheep
The Drink
Generation Y
Great British Mistake
Land Of the Overdose
GGE
BT
1CW

[encore]
Lord's Prayer (because requests were invited and I was first to shout)
Pushed Again
My String Will Snap
Cast Of Thousands (I can't remember this at all, but I've written it down so it must have happened...too much beer and wine by that stage)
Runaway Train Driver

A punk bar across the road was the destination for most people after the gig...I could only manage 1 further drink, but saw that TV was still there before I left.

Overall rating: 'It doesn't get much better than this'!

Excellent gig in Maidstone last night.  26 songs, all on the archive list.

Opening was Mikey Price, a very good singer and guitarist. Reminded me a bit of Louise D, but not so angry.  Did 7 songs with 2 covers. Managed to break her G string!! but was rescued by TV.

Reasonable crowd despite the weather, where we were entertained with 26 songs, including for the 1st time in the UK, Daydreaming (well I cant find it on the UK set-lists!) and also in the set was a first for me in Ghosts of Westminster.  Mrs Taff was in attendance (her first in 2 years. see I do let her out now & then!)  All the songs are on the set-list page.  TV managed to break his C string after Last Lost Street, which was then followed by String will snap.

A good evening all round.

Thanks for the review. Only time I heard Daydreaming was at an "Earthbound" show in Essen years ago (I think)!

Yes, Pushed Again has become a "staple" in the live shows for a number of years now (especially, I think, since it was included on TV's "Acoustic Sessions Vol.1" album)!  8)
