Early signs of interest from several TUTS of attending next year's German boat trip...

Any chance of turning this into an (un)official "Earthbound", or more accurately "Waterbound", event?

TUTS ahoy!?

Last year's details:

https://www.twenty-four-hours.info/spr/21-06-2019-charlie-harper-uk-subs-tv-smith-the-adverts/

I don't know when/if they'll announce next year's event, but I fancy it, and I know of at least three other TUTS that do...

Tim/Klaus/Peter - do you know how many tickets are available for each 'sailing' please?

The night before is a gig in Newcastle, which is free via Eventbrite.   The only downside is that is in a brewery....

I haven't seen TV for over a year. My bad.

100 Club London - 3/1/2020 - with the Bored Teenagers

The Good.....

First night of the Resolution Festival and, let's face it, the only one anyone really needed to go to (at least, it's the only one I will go to).  Quite full - one of the biggest audiences I've seen for a TV gig outside of Rebellion.  I'd imagine a good few were seeing TV for the first time.  A fantastic set, decent beer (£4.50 for the lager - good by London standards) and the LPs on the merch stall had sold out by the end.

The Bad....

Vocals could have been a bit more prominent in the sound...(or maybe the Bored Teenagers were just too great)?

The Ugly....

Someone at the gig placed a sticker for a very right wing political party on the toilet wall (I'm not gonna name the scum party). There were maybe 4 or 5 people who you might have thought were suspects.  What the f*** were these people doing at a TV Smith gig?  Don't they know anything about him? It seems to me that the political climate is providing these morons with the confidence to assert their obnoxious views. I don't want to make too much of it as they didn't do anything to spoil the gig (as far as I could notice), but I haven't seen that sort of thing at a gig since about 1980.

Set list:

21
Safety
We Who Wait
Newboys
On the Roof
My Place
TV's Over
Replay

Lion & Lamb
Xpnsv Being Poor
Immortal Rich
Bombsite Boy
GBM

TV will be supporting DTH at some dates of their "acoustic tour"!

Quote
I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been invited by Die Toten Hosen to support them on some selected dates on their Summer “Ohne Strom” tour. Currently all dates except Zurich and Dresden are sold out, but if you’re quick you might just get a ticket for one of those two. I’ll be at the following shows: 13.06 STUTTGART Schleyer-Halle, 17.06 DORTMUND Westfallenhalle 1, 20.06 DÜSSELDORF ISS Dome, 27.06 FRANKFURT Festhalle, 30.06 MÜNCHEN Olympiahalle, 10.07 ZÜRICH Hallenstadion, 16.07 DRESDEN Filmnächte am Elbufer. I’ll be slotting in a few club gigs in and around those dates - news on that soon.

Talking to my relatives in the NHS, I fear that this may be a lot further away than the optimistic three months people seem to think will be required. I hope not, but the UK figures are seriously underrepresenting the real situation due to lack of testing.

At least I hope that the published figures are wildly inaccurate. If they are correct, coronavirus is killing ~5% of the people contracting it in the UK (22/3/20: 281 deaths/5,683 cases = 4.94%. Figures from https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public). To put that into perspective, seasonal flu typically kills ~0.1% of those that contract it, although for some strains that figure can rise to ~2%.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

With the re-scheduled SLF dates announced and the majority of us with more time on their hands, I thought I'd share these from the last date before lockdown. To get the full effect, queue for about 15 minutes if you need to go to the toilet/get a drink and play about half an hour of 60's/70's/80's television theme tunes before the SLF set!

Maybe, just maybe from June onwards. Even then, I'm not sure whether I wanna go.
As of now, bars & clubs are still closed (at least until May 3rd).

("Distance" would be ok though, I hated it when gigs were too crowded and I had the elbow of a stranger in my side...)

Die Toten Hosen have cancelled their whole "Ohne Strom" Tour (which was re-scheduled for 2021).
(TV was supposed to play support for some shows in 2020, I guess this would've been still the plan for 2021.)

Quote

"The musicians have completely canceled their "Everything without electricity" tour. It is now clear that rescheduling the 2021 tour will fail due to organizational reasons, the band announced on Wednesday in Düsseldorf. We checked all options. We are very disappointed with this finding," said the band. The tour was originally scheduled to take place this year, but was postponed to 2021 due to the corona pandemic."

An acoustic tour? Where the hell did they get that idea from?!

Well they did it before (I think?)... now there was gonna be a "big band" (? maybe an orchestra?), I suppose it was difficult re-scheduling with all those musicians (possibly active in other projects).

I guess there will be no gigs anytime this year

As i know the "Die Ärzte" (germanys another big band) is gonna be canceled soon too.

Even small Gigs will be Impossible because "1,5 meters between people" those would be GIgs with like 5 people

Can't see this going ahead but HRH Punk is still advertising it's festival in Sheffield - 10th - 11th October. TV is billed to appear with The Bored Teenagers amongst many others.

Things have changed since 22nd March:

Using the most recent data (same source - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public) the latest figures [for 28/6/20] are:

43,575 Deaths / 311,965 Positive Results = 13.97%.

The longer people fail to take this VERY seriously, the longer the precautionary measures will be in place and the greater the number of deaths.

STAY SAFE FOLKS!
