Kings of the Wild Frontier Tour now announced...

I saw them at Thames Polytechnic in October 1978 and they were certainly on tour around the UK during that month - I've also got an old Sounds review of a gig at Heriot-Watt University that dates from October 1978. I'm sure somewhere amongst all my other music paper 'collectibles' (or 'old rubbish' as my wife would describe them) I've got a list of dates on that tour but I can't lay my hands on it at the moment...

Adam said it at Islington last year as well but fortunately decided to tour Dirk instead! A Kings tour should please Mr 'Plastic Glass Peroni' from Coventry and also the woman at Brighton that my wife heard say "he didn't play any of his good songs" after the gig there...

I'm guessing that he's started remastering Kings already as there was a Kings/Antmusic single for Record Store Day this year - the remastered Dirk album was issued on Record Store Day last year.

I can vaguely remember The Passenger being played when the band came on at Brighton too...

Thanks for uploading the clip, Alan...how much of the gig did you record?

The Warwick show yesterday was excellent too...one slight downer is that neither of the two shows I saw featured Red Scab (my personal favourite Adam and the Ants song!) but it didn't really matter.

Highlight of the night though was the person standing behind my wife who first of all complained about his bottle of Peroni being put into a plastic glass at the bar and who said after the band had played the Dirk album, Plastic Surgery, Beat My Guest and Christian Dior, "I don't know any of these songs"...

I'm not sure about the prospect of Adam touring the Kings album...there's about four decent songs on it and I'd happily pay extra for him not to play Los Rancheros or Jolly Roger amongst others. I guess it'll depend on what other songs he plays - Press Darlings and Kick were notable by their absence on this tour, although when you look at Adam's back catalogue, in total there's about 15 songs from the 77-79 period that were absent.

Adam's very touchy about being called a 'New Romantic' Fred!!

Adam was in excellent form last night at Brighton...the whole of Dirk plus a batch of pre-Dirk songs (Plastic Surgery, Beat My Guest, Christian Dior, Bathroom Function, Zerox, Lady, Fall In, Fat Fun and a few others). The only post-Dirk song played was Kings of the Wild Frontier. Easily the best of the Dirk shows that I've been to and hoping that the Warwick one later in the month is as good...

It was so good that I'm going to the Brighton and Warwick shows on this tour!

I went to two of the Dirk shows at Islington in November and the encores consisted of pre Dirk era songs (B Side Baby, Bathroom Function, Whip In My Valise, Zerox, Physical). There were only a handful of post-Dirk songs - no Antmusic, Stand And Deliver, Prince Charming, Goody Two Shoes etc.

It was very much not a warpaint/dandy highwayman/Prince Charming show.

The Belsen demo hasn't surfaced either officially or unofficially before (afaik)...maybe one or two of the other demos and some of the video?
It's a lot of money for a few tracks but unfortunately I know I'll cave in and buy it.

I hate to think how many times I've bought the tracks that make up NMTB!!
