really enjoyed the Menninblack at Lincoln only one of this tour I got to. New song was pretty cool, some really random songs chosen, first time I have ever heard them do Dont bring Harry and Bear Cage live is epic great they included it, Usually Lincoln is early in the March tour but following the trip abroad and being about half way through they were on fire. Did not enjoy the support at all

Ah Fred so bitter! Hugh chose to go, get over it. The menninblack kick arse and always will (although those weird PR years took a bit of dealing with). Happy to go along any time they play cos you never know when they wont again. See you Monday! Remember Babylon is Burning......

So sad. Lovely man, met him at a TV gig with Fred and discovered that we had been at the same gigs in Great Yarmouth, Damned, Stranglers, The Jam many decades ago. Always a pleasure to meet up with, full of enthusiasm and kindness

Cheers Uli hadn't seen those. I went to Nottingham and Leeds and enjoyed both a lot! Princess of the Streets in Leeds was epic, love JJ on vocals and he really went for it.   Norfolk Coast now (post PR) is a real joy and really flies. I always enjoy Relentless live and all the stuff new and old takes on an enhanced dimension  particularly when the band look like they are loving it! JJs bass banging in Leeds must have shifted foundations the whole place shook

I expected the black & white tour to be fairly epic and at Rock City on Monday night it was. Very weird to see the album I listened to it all those years ago over and over again played live now and sounding so spot on,  then straight into a real mix of some of the rest of their stuff starting with Grip. On the night In the shadows was standout for me as was relentless. the banging of the bass prior to NMH  intro shook the place to its foundations talk about feel it live! Oh and the Alarm were enjoyable too and seemed to really enjoy themselves,  respect to Mike Peters for getting out there and doing something about the disease he is suffering from

Bet you couldn't do that for the Alarm Fred. or could you? (I wouldn't know if you did anyway). I remember a merry drive to Sheffield Leadmill ,where we linked loads of Stranglers tracks, simple pleasures! when did your Mike Peters aversion get so serious? I have seen him at least 3 times with you?!
Black and White in Yarmouth Alan top gig! that and The Damned at the stars and Garters and The Jam at the ABC I think, etched on me memory happy days on the Norfolk Coast.

Fibbers in York Monday twas great! only about 500 people, sweating hot and I reckon Baz probably lost a stone, JJ  cool as always. It would be a great venue for TV!  I went onto Bazs side on a sort of raised bit where there is a bar and although I only saw Dave when he went on and off stage and didn't see Jim at all I don't think I could have handled the barrier last night. Plus excellent view of JJ & Baz!

Good security guy stood in front of me and I complained and he moved! I did thank him at the end. similar set list to March they are having a real laugh it appears much jocularity and messing about between JJ and Baz. Norfolk Coast, Relentless and NMH were stand out for me but there wasn't a duff one really. Epic five minutes and something better change. Golden Brown and Peaches got a well received outing but the mix of the newer stuff was also well received and there was I would say almost 50/50 older younger audience. Sell out gig unsurprisingly.

World Chat / Re: The TUTS Jukebox > What Are You Playing This Week?
« on: July 05, 2015, 09:28:28 PM »
picked up live x cert and decades apart at a boot sale last week. v happy as I cant find my vinyl X Cert and hadn't heard Decades apart which for me is enhanced by it being the foursome we have now rather than the format during the 90s and up to Norfolk Coast which I agree is a great step up from the 90s albums. Also love Suite XVI maybe more than Giants

Leeds date would be do able for me and is tempting but will the Stranglers get to play a full set? Don't remember what happened when they were 'special guests' with UB40. Dilemma

Cheers Rockula and Fred, will see if I can find that version of Grip  without destroying the internet! or falling into a vat of apple

My name is Kim and Rockula is right you are wrong Fred! in my opinion.  That they have the balls to play such eclectic sets and can keep doing it year on year because the old stuff and the new are worth it is testament to them. Baz has brought energy enthusiasm and humour to new tracks and old favourites. witness Norfolk Coast what a rendition every time this tour :), Relentless is my current top Stranglers track. Time to Die was epic, Baz wants to be in the Stranglers and it shows and the rest of em appear to be having a great time too, thank gawd the bloke after Hugh has gone, and hey we can go and see Hugh too, bonus
