Marie Fredriksson singer with Roxette died yesterday after a 17 year battle with cancer.
Not really a fan but I believe the band were named after the Wilko song.

Cheers me dear.  1 question  The Adverts sung twice in Sheffield?

It was already listed on the setlists as opening & closing the show and I've just checked my recording and TV says that they are going to finish the way they started or words to that effect. The Music Machine gig from earlier in the year also has "The Adverts" opening & closing although I don't have a copy of this (hint to anyone who'd like to rectify this!). Was this not around the time that Howard "disappeared"? TV is definitely playing guitar at the Sheffield one. Perhaps he hadn't learnt any other songs?! All three setlists are the same apart from the fact that "The Adverts" didn't close the Glasgow show. Or perhaps it did? The old bootleggers trick of making sure that only you have the complete show may have come into play.

Not sure why this has just been reviewed as my pre-order was sent out at the end of May! Although the "official" release date is next week??
I remember talking to TV about it at the time as he did a bit of a re-write on the original for this version.
On a similar note, Paul-Ronney Angel guested with TV at today's appearance at HRH Punk Sheffield on the last few songs. GJ's got the set-list so I'll leave that for him to post.

Dear Alan,

Glad you enjoyed it. It sounds brilliant, but I'm not at all jealous.

All the best, Pinocchio.

Just back (well late hours of last night) from the four awesome (which isn't a word I use often) TV gigs with The Bored Teenagers. We all know how great Jonathan & Marky are (and that TV bloke ain't too shabby either) but for Jamie to step in at the last minute and pull out the performances that he did was incredible. He had only listened to a recording (I guess the 100 Club one) and not actually played the songs on drums until the 20 minute or so soundcheck at the Nottingham show! Even that sounded spot on.
I'm hoping to get a review on Louder Than War (details if & when) though I'll send you the setlists this coming week Phil.
It was great to meet up with old friends (TJ - anyone remember TJ? and GJ at Leeds) and hopefully to have made a few new ones.
Well, need to carry on making up all the stuff my wife bought from Ikea today - even this penance was worth it for her letting me do the mini tour!

Many thanks for that Alan.

I'm sure it would be a fake-fur guitar strap!

Furry trousers??!!??
Sorry Fred, perhaps I should have said that it was striped as well as furry and that I was assured that no zebra were harmed in it's making.
"Furry Trousers" - wasn't that a single by Madness?!

Swindon - The Vic 10/05/19

Last Friday saw me making the trip to Swindon for a rare (so far this year) UK gig by TV (perhaps I should move to Germany?!).
After braving thunderstorms, hail, heavy rain (my previous TV gig was in Southend during the Easter heatwave), the everpresent roadworks on our wonderful motorway system and Swindon town centre parking, I finally booked into my hotel and after a quick snack set off to the venue.
The Vic is a nice sized room at the back of a pub with a decent stage and sound system. After a quick word with Tim & Sally it was time for the show. The original listing was for The Charred Hearts to headline but after TV was added, they dropped down the bill. First up were Rage DC billing themselves as "Loud & Lairy punk rock" which I guess they were and the singer and guitarist certainly looked the part although having a Freddie Mercury lookalike on drums did detract from the image!
Next came The Charred Hearts "punk rock since 1981" (although they did disband for a large part of the last 38 years) who although they were from Swindon (and obviously had lots of local fans) for some reason didn't want to associate themselves with the local scene - perhaps they just didn't like XTC?
Finally came the man who I'd travelled 170 miles to see looking resplendant with his new furry guitar strap (it does match the trousers!). After all his years in the "biz" TV had finally been given his own button to the smoke machine although it was largely unused due to male multi-tasking syndrome i.e being unable to sing, play guitar, stamp his feet and press the button at the same time! This withstanding, what followed was up to the usual high standards with a set list as follows (this saves me typing it out again for you Phil):

Only One Flavour
No Time To Be 21
No Control
Green Zone
Coming In To Land
Replay
I Delete
Lion & The Lamb
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
Tomahawk Cruise
No Hope Street
Last Lost Sheep
The Drink
My String Will Snap
Generation Y
Land Of The Overdose
Gary Gilmore's Eyes (with The Charred Hearts' singer on additional vocals)
Bored Teenagers
One Chord Wonders (with a female member of the audience on "we don't give a damns")
Runaway Train Driver
