World Chat / Music Documentaries
« on: March 04, 2018, 09:16:06 PM »
As there are already lots of threads on various music documentaries, I thought I'd start one to try to keep track of any new ones. I saw a couple of good ones a few weeks ago, so I'll start the ball rolling with them:

I finally managed to catch up with the excellent "XTC: This is Pop" documentary. It's rather ironic that Andy hates '"Rock Docs", as he features in one of the best ones! I loved XTC back in the day and seeing this reminded me of how seriously underrated they are. Its worth watching simply to hear the anecdote about Andy telling Dave in no uncertain terms that he wasn't allowed to "Ernie"!

A band that 'enjoyed' rather less critical and financial reward first time around were the protopunk trio formed by the three Hackney brothers; Death. Three black guys playing any form of rock wasn't very common in early 70's - especially if you lived in 'Motown'!

Nice to see them getting a little bit of belated credit:

World Chat / Songs that give you the chills

The research that Uli just posted made me think about songs that stop you in your tracks whenever you hear them and give you the chills - in a good way (so no Sp*nd** B*ll*t gags please!).

Here's a couple of mine:

Oh dear!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!

I NEVER want to hear Tim, or anyone else, EVER criticise the "Cast of Thousands" cover ever, ever, ever again after viewing these, but I warn you, if you open this link you will NEVER be able to un-see the horrors within:
