'fuelling the fire' tour at Newcastle Academy- Flogging Molly headlined, bit dodgy at first but improved and were very enjoyable but the singer's announcement that Pete Shelley had passed away put a downer on things. Also on were The Bronx who were really good and the band of the night the excellent Face To Face. Only 17 to get in.

Pete Shelley just announced in Newcastle by flogging Molly

Another poor attendance in Gateshead last night for the ever wonderful Johnny Moped. Currently supporting The Damned but added an extra gig on a night off. Much rather see him than them any day.

3 in 4 days last week- 999 with Cass on drums in Stockton in a venue that resembled a world war 2 museum. Good night. Vibrators in Gateshead, played really well in front of a pathetically small crown. Then Leeds Arena to see the 4 Tops-with 1 original member since 1953, Abdul 'Duke' age 82. The newish lead singer is OK but no Levi Stubbs. Great stuff apart from missing the sax solo in 'Same Old Song'. Also on were Tavares who I really enjoyed and The Temptations whose 1 original member is a mere 79.

999- Glasgow and Sunderland. Glasgow was the better of the 2 and a good turnout for a thursday night at Ivory Blacks. Nick and Guy travelled with me to the Sunderland gig due to van problems but it was fixed in time to get them to Carlisle which I missed due to...
Killing Joke- Leeds O2.
Great as always and still some dates left to catch them. BUT avoid the painful support band and don't buy the Live in Berlin CD- it doesn't play on standard CD players and now I can't play any CDs at all in my car!
update- CD now works! They will be releasing a recording of the London gig too.

Have had to postpone my football club Xmas do as it clashes with 999 playing at The New Cross Inn on Saturday 8th December.

My teammates are unimpressed but hey, what do they know?!
I'll be there too- hopefully after seeing City turn Chelsea over.

Joe 'retired' from music a few years back in order to further his political career but at that time he wasn't elected and so started the band up again. He's a great bloke- glad he made it at last but the world still need DOA.

That kid should give Mahrez lessons.

The Vibrators and The Undead, Bowery Electric, New York. Nice small venue, good turnout and reaction for The Vibes who were excellent.
Israel Vibration, Sony Music Hall, New York. Bonus gig the day after The Vibrators- a chance to see a band I'd never seen before. Surprised by the big venue and the fact there were lots of younger people in the audience to see the 2 old rastas who were backed by the legendary Roots Radics. Very enjoyable.

Best bands for me- Jaya The Cat, Mad Caddies, TV, Bar Stool Preachers, Psychotronic Man, 999, PIL.
Spen too much time in the pub as usual, must not do this again as I ended up in hospital with dehydration!

The new Sacha Baron Cohen series on Channel 4 is the funniest thing I've seen in years.

2 beers : 1 bag of crisps
15 minutes : 10 players
last minute : final goal
quite emotional...

Only 2 beers!!
Great performance from England today- just a shame that Raheem didn't score.

That made me laugh too- not as funny as Germany leaving the brilliant Leroy Sane behind though :o
