I got Cast of Thousands in Sister Ray for 19.99 (Red Sea had quickly sold out).  It looks and feels magnificent. Had to wait in a long queue to get in the shop first - a bit mad.  Vinyl seems to have a bit more life in it yet.

At least two interesting items here:

http://recordstoreday.co.uk/exclusive-releases/rsd-2016

Quite fancy getting Cast of Thousands in white vinyl - my original RCA copy is long lost to the ravages of time.  Also, is this the first time it's been possible to buy '...Red Sea...' in red vinyl since 1978?  I still have my original (I'll bore you all one day with the story about how I bought the original, despite misinformation put out by Radio Luxembourg).

Same show in Edinburgh as in Leeds, except that there was time to do 2 additional songs at the 2nd encore.....in addition to My String Will Snap, they added Lord's Prayer and Runaway Train Driver.

So, sorry, Dianne, that I saw those and you didn't.

Really amazing to see the Bored Teenagers play their first ever gig in Scotland (and Suzy y Los Quattro too).

Was going to go to Derby but instead will be with the wonderful girl I met at Tv's Ivory Black's gig in Glasgow on 12 Sep, so TV only has himself to blame for his audience diminishing by 1 tomorrow!

About time you meet Alan (88 gigs) or Gabumon (100+).  ;)

V impressive - tho' I'm thinking more of emotional impact rather than numbers of gigs; my money's on Dianne to obsess anyone under the table.   :)

Sunday: TV initially embarrassed by being cheered before he was ready to go on, gently rebuking those who did so (guilty parties: primarily Rob-C and Dianne*).

No printed set list, so TV either had it all in his head or just did whatever he thought of at the time - and was at times as punked up as is humanly possible on acoustic guitar.  A special guest called Ross appeared on stage to provide ukulele accompaniment on 'We Who Wait'....no previous rehearsal undertaken (I think they'd just met on the day), but you'd never have known.  Leigh Heggarty joined to play on the last few numbers, culminating in One Chord Wonders.  45 minutes of TV bliss - a run through of the usual great stuff + (I think) one new song.  Now if only he could fit in 'Clone Town'.

* - v sweet girl - TV fan for just the last 2 years, but probably the most obsessed TV fan I've ever met.

Set list from Friday (I'm certain of this as I have a copy):

Tomahawk Cruise
Only One Flavour
My String Will Snap
Ready For the Axe
I Delete
Like a Rocket
2nd Class Citizens
Replay
Lion & Lamb
Expensive being Poor
Immortal Rich
Good Times Are Back
Runaway Train Driver

Good size audience, fewer than Thursday (in a smaller hall) probabaly split 50-50 between die-hard TV enthusiasts and the curious/ less familiar.

Of course, it was brilliant - especially to hear these most of songs played by a band for the first time.

Magnificently.  Don't think I've ever enjoyed myself more at a TV gig or seen the crowd (or, at least, a decent section of it down the front) go quite so mental - especially on Bombsite Boys and One Chord Wonders.  All Adverts songs, of course, apart from a surprise bonus of Lord's Prayer at the end.

Set list (from memory, so not in order): all of Red Sea apart from New Church and Drowning Men, Male Assault, Television's Over, Back From the Dead, We Who Wait , a (great) slowed down version of Gary Gilmore, and Lord's Prayer.

One down, two to go.

To knackered to write much, but the 'punch up' rumours are unfounded -and anyway my money would have been on BBQ, sorry TV... AND here's a really wonderful performance from the acoustic stage from a group who laugh in the face of rehearsals... and yes the cardboard box did get damaged in the making of this music... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi3_u7Jg8ac&feature=youtu.be

Ah - so I did catch the cardboard box at the end (7:51 in) ......I wasn't sure the next day whether or not I'd dreamt it.  That's also me nicking the set list at 5:00....TV kindly autographed it afterwards - then I lost it going back to the guest house.  But I can exclusively reveal something that didn't happen - there were two songs on the list that didn't get played because they had run out of time, the final one being my all time favourite 'The Lord's Prayer'......you can't get more exclusive and earth(bound)-shattering news than that!

Random Observations........'Bored Teenagers' t shirt seemed to mark me out as a fountain of all knowledge for TV.  Before the gig, young guy in 'Nazi punks fuck off' t shirt asks 'Is the singer the guy from the UK Subs?'  As soon as the quite stupendous set finishes, another in an Operation Ivy shirt says 'This is the first I've heard of them - that was amazing; what's the best CD to get?'  'Crossing the Red Sea' is my reply, 'one of the best punk albums ever.'  It's only afterwards I think that he'll go away looking for that title under 'TV Smith and the Bored Teenagers' and won't find it.  Then middle aged man in Splodgenessabounds shirt says 'what a man'. 'His solo stuff is great too', I say. 'Yes. Yes.  Everything.  Everything', he replies.

All of 'Red Sea' played, except 'New Church', plus various singles and b-sides and 'Male Assault' (where, amusingly, TV forgot the words of the final verse).  Best song: 'Bombsite Boy'; including long pause and statuesque pose before the fast bit.

Plenty of moshing/ pogoing from about the 3rd song onwards - most enthusiastic reception from an audience I've ever seen at a TV gig.  Great Stuff.  Hope tomorrow is as good in its own acoustic way.

I went.  Looked at the schedule to see that TV was on at 9.30pm, so I stayed at/endured GBH for a while longer than I would otherwise have done and then moved off to the acoustic bar at 9.25 - only to find that TV was already on and the place completely packed (300- 350 people).  I squeezed in and, according to the guy beside me, I had already missed 40 mins.  V pissed off.  Tried to enjoy the few songs I heard whilst in a bad mood before leaving to see Jello Biafra at 9.50pm (on the basis that I had already missed most of TV and it would be better to see the whole set of someone else I like).

Oh well, I've seen TV plenty of times before and will no doubt do again in the future - but grrrrr.

PS - The night before, Charlie Harper was sporting a TV t-shirt during his UK Subs slot.

Is there any possibility that the Cheap John Peel session could ever be released?  I used to have it on cassette and distinctly remember listening to it in 1988, in the small room I lived in having just moved to London, before the tape eventually got chewed up after multiple playings.  They were billed on the session as 'TV Smith's Cheap'.

'Luxury In Exile' from that session is much better than the album version.
