Just got tickets for The Mekons (1977 original line-up) at The 100 Club in April.
Support from my friends The Wolfhounds.

Got introduced to the guys from The Wolfhounds at last year's Stewart Lee hosted ATP festival in Prestatyn. Nice blokes, good music.

I'm out to lunch... well Lydia Lunch & band, later tonight.

Enjoy: they were excellent in London last year

Isn't it great? We're getting free medical advice from a doctor!

Over in Trumpville, this information would cost thousands of dollars probably.

Thank you, Doctor Emilliowet!  ;)

Their new album sounds surprisingly (to me) good...

That's because it is good.  ;)
You like Mogwai? Cool.
I hadn't bought their releases for a few years, this new album however is good indeed.
"Don't believe the fife" is one of my fave tracks.  8)

I got talking to Stuart Braithwaite in a pub in Spittalfields last year after going along to a book launch that he was speaking at. He's a nice bloke, very chatty, loves his football and lives his music. I'd never given Mogwai much of a listen over the years and felt a little guilty that, as much as I knew about the various bands he was talking about (especially The Fall), I knew next to nothing about his band.

They play 'Crossing The Road Material' quite often on 6Music, which has caught my ear lately.

Of course I have newer albums I want to play (again), like... Mogwai..

Their new album sounds surprisingly (to me) good...

Thanks anyway Uli  :)

Got a text message about 5 mins ago from Tom Phobic informing me of the same, but it's good to know these things as soon as possible.

Oh sh*t!!  ::)

Very true - but sometimes a "band" is really just it's leader (think PiL) and other bands have all the original members and still manage to be crap (too numerous to list!).

Wasn't that the point about your comment on Ken going to watch TV but go when Dr Feelgood start? Much to admire about the current guys for sure, but without Lee and Wilko? Not so sure.

Agree about some bands being one-headed though. Saw The Fall go through their 57 varieties nearly 90 times in what was in all honesty about 20 different bands. Much as I liked the Hanleys, Craig Scanlon and was on first name terms with various members over the last 25 years or so, it was really only MES that you went to see. That the others left or were fired made no difference.

14 don't stop supporting your football club when the last player you watched when you were a kid retires.

Would have saved myself a whole lot of time, a huge amount of frustration and a wheelbarrow full of money if I had!

I guess I've seen enough bands where there have been less than 50% of the original line up over the years but, in some instances, you look at who's left and decide that all the flavour has been sucked out of the lolly: there's nothing left to savour.

I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling this.

Arturo's Lurkers at the New Cross Inn on Saturday.

Rather looking forward to this  :)
