That kid should give Mahrez lessons.

It's at times like this that I'd like to be saying something like:

"Anfield got a phone call from someone in France yesterday, asking if they wanted their ball back..."

...but my own bunch of clumsy chumps are hardly tearing up trees in their own division.

One day...

I wonder what inspired the flowers and dead bird motif? It is indeed uncannily like "Land of the Overdose" meets "In the Arms of my Enemy"!

Dunno: didn't have time to ask.

Watched Terry Edwards and Mark Bedford in their band 'Near Jazz Experience'. Ok, but I prefer their other various bands.

Stewart Lee did an updated version of his 80's club act, which was good fun. I've seen him do it before, but he adds topical things each time, which keeps it fresh.

The Nightingales are a rolling mawl of a band, taking no prisoners and no breaks. I like them (and their lookie-likey lp covers) a lot.

Saw Paul Merton doing his improv act the other day. He told a couple of jokes to start off with, the first being this:

A magician and a parrot are on stage on a cruise ship. Every time the magician tries to do a trick, the parrot ruins it by shouting out "It's up his sleeve!" or "There's a trapdoor!" or "The box has a false bottom to it!" This drives the magician crazy

Later on, the ship hits some rocks and sinks.

The only survivors are the parrot and the magician.

For two days, they sit in the lifeboat, not saying a word, just staring at each other.

Finally, the parrot says:

"Ok, I give up: what did you do with the boat?"

The Nightingales tomorrow in Hackney.

Stewart Lee doing the support!

Yes, sounds like a great trip!

Not at all jealous...

I sure as hell am!!  ;D

Great review, too.

Couldn't make the Unicorn gig last night  :(

My vertigo, which seems to be connected to the (hopefully) temporary deafness I'm experiencing in my left ear, makes me fall over rather too easily: not good when travelling.

Bugger!  >:(

And of course the last UK one was at The Hope in Carshalton organised by Fleagle (remember him!)

Who could forget Fleagle?

Me, for one...

Missed a chance for a gag there - he should have played "No Hop Street" at a beer festival!

Where's me coat?

Where's your coat?!

Hopefully, a friend will have put it on the first stagecoach out of town, followed swiftly by it's wearer, ahead of the stink of the terrible joke issued before it...

Pee-you!!  ;)

Many thanks for the review - shocked Tim played "The Drink" at a beer festival!

If TJ was here (anyone remember TJ?), he would point out the long heritage Tim has of playing at beer festivals and piss-ups in breweries!

I'm well aware of the Elland Brewery Earthbound gig. What struck me as being unusual was that a beer festival gig was arranged by someone without the slightest idea that some of those in attendance wouldn't have a clue who the bloke singing was!

At least with the Elland Brewery gig, everyone who was there was under no illusion whatsoever who the geezer with the guitar and vox was. They hadn't just turned up to a warm-water freaks meeting, only to find a kindly but spindly bloke randomly shouting punk rock at them!  ;)

Brenchley on Friday afternoon!

Me and Mrs. S will be in attendance

So we were.

Brenchley. Odd place to view TV. British countryside pub, miles from anywhere and at, of all things, a Real Ale festival. A nice pub with extensive gardens where a wooden pagoda served as the stage. There were covered and uncovered tables. Looking at the gathering clouds we, sensibly as it turned out, took position at the closest covered one to the stage. PA was either dreadful or off: no other setting. Still...seen Tim in worse circumstances before and, of course, minor setbacks like these were never going to deter Our Man. So...with ironic tongue firmly in cheek, off we went:

Only One Flavour
Clone town
March Of The Giants
21
No Control
Keys To The World
We Stand Alone
Lion And The Lamb
Replay
Never Again Until The Next Time
I Delete
Green Zone
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
(think I missed a song here: insert your fave!)
Tomahawk Cruise
No Hope Street
Last Lost Sheep
The Future Used To Be Better
(Missed another: sorry!)
Land Of The Overdose
Generation Y
My String Will Snap
The Drink
Day We Caught The Big Fish
Perhaps The Good Times Are Back
Punk Rock Poem
GG
BT
OCW

...and off to a smattering of applause from about 12 people who were actually interested and virtually nothing from some, frankly, baffled onlookers. Their loss, our gain.

Got talking to a guy and his daughter who'd never seen TV before but, as it turned out, was a fan. He was from Erith via Bulgaria and his name was Petko. Nice person, so was his daughter.

1hr 55 mins I reckon.

Nobody present could say they were undersold  :)

Brenchley on Friday afternoon!

Me and Mrs. S will be in attendance.

Think I'll be at the Unicorn gig next month too, only I'll be there at least three hours later in the day as I've spotted an oily stain on the undercard.

Hopefully, Ken and Za will be there too

Think I'll have to give the Shoreham gig a miss but...Brenchley Beer Festival the next day? Do-able! Also, a couple of my football team live within Ub*r hailing distance, so I'll attempt to drag them along.

The Camden gig a couple of Saturdays later looks a certain, too  :)

No real chance, but at least they're still in it.
