Ah! so we should only be discussing things that are not excellent? 8O :?
The only reason that I haven't sent you my T shirt lyrics are that they are all excellent. Some must be more excellent than others though.

I finally saw part of the Punk Years at Smits last night. It was the female special featuring Gaye, Patti, Poly, Ari, Debbie and Siouxsie.
Plus a certain band playing Bored Teanagers on the Whistle Test and a few interviews with a certain punk called Smith, and I don't mean Mark E.
Awesome.

jock I'm not quite so sure that TV is planning anymore UK gigs mate. He says he is extremely tied up on finishing his atmospheric new album at the moment... and then there is the fun of finding a record deal.

Many thanks to Fleagle, Mrs Fleagle, Jurgon and Maxine (see below) for the great reviews. I've finally had the time to write the first part of my review, it's amazing how it all starts flooding back.
I'm at Smits this week end so I'll be pestering him for a few paragraphs. Keep them coming TUTS just a few more key characters to go. Simse and TV have contacted me about their reviews as well.
I tell you TUTS this joint review, along with Jock's ace TV T shirts, will show that TV and the TUTS mean business!Posted: Sat Aug 24, 2002 12:58 pm Post subject: The TUTS United Southwick Gig Review
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi TUTS,
Thanks for your resonse to date. Still lots more to come in. We need a 100% response on this one TUTS.
Below is some more info. It's a reply from someone who is a big fan of TV's work, who was also at the Southwick gig.
Quote: I'm trying to co-create a diary style gig review with a difference. Southwick was the start of the (latest?) TV Smith fan club. TV made the gig very special for his fans (Back From The Dead with Richard, Walk Fire the Easy Way with Tim X.) In return his fans travelled for hundreds of miles to be at Glastonwick 7.
So, albeit some time later, I'm trying to gather those emotional feelings into a special gig review to record the special event forever and to back up the hundreds of photo's on TV's site. Please supply at least a couple of paragraphs on what you remember and how it felt being part of the most visible backing of the entire festival. .

To wet your whistle here is the offering from Max, one of the Doctors fans who made the journey. This is the type of review I am looking for. I've also got some good reviews from The Fleagles:
Dear Tj,
Does the latest communication on the Docs website mean it will soon be defunct? If this is the case, my Southwick memories are immortalised below.
Well, it was 24 years since my friend John and I last set eyes on the Kid, at the last valedictory gig in 1978. We both went to Southwick with some trepidation (and with two other friends who had not shared the Doctors experience and had no idea of the feelings involved). For a start, what was the Great Strange doing at a beer festival in a little known suburb of Brighton at 3 in the afternoon? Would he be a worn out old has been trading, on past glories? Would it be an embarrassment? (Reaction to his appearance on the Jools Holland Show had been mixed- the word "tosser" being bandied about I recall). Would we even recognise him?
We sat tensely through some local bands, trying to spot other potential Doctors fans among the families and real ale drinkers. We were rewarded by the sight of the TV Smith contingent and amused ourselves trying to spot TV himself .The gentlemen present were beside themselves with excitement that they might actually be in the presence of the immortal Gaye Advert.
Our real reward came, however, when a tall unmistakable figure appeared unobtrusively in the hall. From then all was well. The Great Strange revealed himself as a witty, moving and accomplished performer, happy to play both old and new songs, who immediately bonded with his audience. I never imagined that in 2002 I would be joining in a singalong of Billy Watch Out Now etc.. I felt moved by the occasion in a way it is difficult to describe. It was certainly nostalgic but rather triumphant also. Mr. Strange seemed very touched by the support of his audience and, for me, the highlight was meeting the man himself, who turned out to be a very courteous and affable gentleman.
The other highlight was meeting other Doctors fans, exchanging memories and realising that John and I were not the only people on earth for whom the Doctors were such an influence. We felt like part of a community.
As for Mr Smith, I will leave that to his fan club to describe.
Well, Tj, I hope you find my ramblings interesting. I trust I will be around to see the man himself in action again soon.
Maxine.
Come on TUTS united together with TV we made Southwick very special, lets finish it off with a bang, not a whimper. This will also help us get in the mood for TV's September tour. Cant't Wait.
PLEASE reply (via email as it needs to be kept secret until it is finished.)

TV Smith / TV Chat / TUTS TV T Shirt

Hi TUTS,
Thought I'd resurect our last attempt at producing TV Smith T shirts. They also included TV's words as slogans: I suggetsed a headline of ADVERTS ATTITUDE > Followed by; "I don't believe you have to sell your soul and do what everybody says" or "Strength within you." Maybe we should find some of TV Smith's wise words that are about what the TUTS stand for

Hi fleag,
Me and Smit are waiting to see what else turns up nearer to home. Like Leeds or Peterborough
Smit is interested in Ipswich (I wonder why) and I fancy Blackburm (how bizare) :?
Hey Klaus why don't we just have one combined live section now we are United. I vote for a merge of Tours and Gigs with TUTS and rather than Live TV call it TV United Tour Supporters. What do you think mate :?:
