1  A World Of Our Own / World Chat / Re: Are festivals too muddy? on: August 29, 2012, 01:56:08 PM
It can be a bit too much esspecialy in the UK ...3 or 4 days of nons top rain, mud everywhere..
clothes cant dry out ... no fun at all.
if the weathers fine then i dont mind festivals as theres so much going on... not just the music.

enjoying good company with a few beers is great :-)
2  TV Smith / TV Chat / Re: Tales Of The Emergency Sandwich (TV's tour diaries part 3) on: August 25, 2012, 12:47:19 PM
Springsteen  - -  is he still alive Uli ?     3 - 4 hours shows  JEEZ i couldnt handle that
no way.  each to their own tho.

Ive often wondered how Tim manages to keep his energy levels so high , diet is
obviously so important. the work Tim done at Rebelion this year was outstanding..
non stop all day long, plus playing shows, he never seemed tired .. mind you we done
much the same with the help of Jack daniels and red stripe.  Cool
3  TV Smith / TV Chat / Re: Tales Of The Emergency Sandwich (TV's tour diaries part 3) on: August 21, 2012, 10:11:35 AM
Tim read parts of this diary  at Blackpool on the spoken word stage .... interesting indeed... a very shocking story
( in more ways than one )   as well as the usual very funny parts too...

a glorious diary to own , yet again ...

TJ - your right , preaching doesnt help anyone ... it does tend to put people off, and watching TV on stage
give 110% like that is testimont to his lifestyle.  I think Tims full on energy on stage proves his diet gives
him all the energy he needs and more ... he shows us at each performance .

off to play some TVSmith now...

Ahhh true Fred..i never thought of that ..ahh well ... Pure Hell can always play another time :-)    im glad it turned out the way it did cos TVSmith gave us all a treat ..the weekend was his .      i am still buzzing -- TVSmith plus RuTs DC !  that was my weekend made.

 Cool
5  TV Smith / TV Live / Re: Blackpool Rebellion August 2-5 2012 on: August 17, 2012, 09:11:19 AM
You liked us lot Steve ?  many thanks for compliments  Cool

Uli --yeh lydon is like a pop star in many ways , it is strange tho cos he makes himself available to some fans
at most gigs ..i just wish he'd do it all the time and stop all the hype from continuing, and meet loads of fans
instead of the ones who waited for two hours in the snow or whatever ...like at Glasgow , people waited for
hours in sub zero conditions to meet him a few years ago. i was off home and im my kip by the time they
met him :-)

Like i said Rebellion for me was TVSmith  and the RUTS DC .... that was my weekend complete right there .
Cool        DJ Ro Prassad and his Killing Joke mixes was good too for a chill out .

I wish Pure Hell had turened up tho !

BRILLIANT gigs by TVSmith ..as usual i arrive too late to the bar for the accoustic set :-( it is PACKED to the rafters yet again
so we do our best to shuffle around at the back ...way at the back . However the weekend was certainly TVSmiths ..he done the fans proud
on all occasions .

other highlights for me were the fantastic RUTS DC -  WOW ! what a set !  i couldve listened to them for another hour at least , the RUTS songs just comming and my poor legs from jumping up and down ....deary me  :-(      Seggs and Ruffy and Leigh all stopped for a chat and that made my night complete .

DirtBox Disco were good live too and are fast becomming a festival favourite , they drew quite a crowd ... also John Robbs spoken word with Viv and Gaye and Jeff turner were fanstatic.... i found Viv Albertines chat very entertaining and informative, she was brilliant.

ESSO from the Lurkers was good too, he is a great bloke with loads to say on many subjects , he was selling his book this year which im told is a superb read..he is also a bloke i wouldnt want to get on the wrong side off , he doesnt seem the type to hang about too long before flattening people who piss him off :-)

so many to see ...some dropped out like Pure HEll ! :-(   NO FUN as i really wanted to see those guys too :-(

i went to the PIL soundcheck early in the morning , all the crew were busy ,and when i asked if john was going to arrive they said NO -we use a a CD these days , RISE was playing at the time ..however when we went outside a greeny coloured people carrier with blacked out windows arrived, it drove past a few times before parking ...then security approached it .. some chatting went on ...then it drove off again ...only to return later ....

Rambo was spotted nearby so we can only assume Lydon was surveying the venue and the door he was going to be led through soon.   Too much fannying around tho to be honest , just do the soundcheck ...make yourself accessible to fans Mr Lydon and no one will want to swamp you at gigs...just act normal eh ..  all that security just adds to the tension.

anyhoo--    good to meet all you folks again ....Fred ,Alan ,Steve da Fish ...   etc ....   we had a good time there , but seeing TVSmith and the RUTS DC made my weekend worth it ...   fantastic !

 Cool

9  A World Of Our Own / World Of TUTS / Re: So who's going to Rebellion 2012? on: June 28, 2012, 09:37:48 AM
me probably ..not made my mind up 100% yet .. it will be my last time drumming with out wee band if i do
go ...so might be a good one to go out on eh .
10  A World Of Our Own / World Chat / Re: Punk Britannia on: June 09, 2012, 10:42:18 PM
Yeh Fred...it was just a job to the band eh  ... we took all bands too seriously back in the day -  we beleived it was all real
and that our lives depended on punk rock ...which wasnt the case but it certainly felt that way .

somehow the music meant so much more to us then, more so than the youth of today with the bands that are 'popular'  ....

Tims lyrics still cut to the bone , he IS the king of punk rock lyrics ... no one can beat Tim for his writing skills.

Tony Parsons ? whos that >? was he the guy on the boat interviewing Poly ? or the manager bloke ..both made me cringe....
by the way id never seen this Arena programme before last night , it was good , but your right an updated one would be ace.
 Cool

13  TV Smith / TV Chat / Re: We Who Wait: TV on the TV \o/ on: June 02, 2012, 02:19:23 PM
Id certainly never heard of the Martinez brothers either , mind you i didnt keep up with  all of Tims releases and projects in the 80's
so there was loads i didnt know about .

I see its repeated tonight for those who can record the programme ...

has anyone got the know how to get it from a freeview box - onto DVD ?

14  TV Smith / TV Chat / Re: We Who Wait: TV on the TV \o/ on: June 02, 2012, 11:22:36 AM
SUPERB documentary ...watched it twice already ...    It's great to hear the whole story from start to present day
and to hear  the pitfalls of being in bands too.

So sad for Gaye tho , she mustve put up with a lot just for being her !    it shows how the machine works with
the music papers and how trouble could be sparked off cos Gaye's pic was on a 7" single.
Mind you it is one of the most iconic covers ever .

id also like to see the longer version of the documentary like Rockula mentioned - ---perhaps a DVD release sometime
would be nice if thats possible?

Fantastic work tho - Thanks to all involved . Cool
15  TV Smith / TV Chat / Re: TV Smith on Later....with Jools Holland? on: May 30, 2012, 09:48:20 AM
Tim was ace on Jools ... it was also good to see Gaye there also  Cool

Ive also mailed Jools to ask for Tim to be able to do a few tracks next time
as he deserves that at least.   The Hives were excellent tho , made the show complete.

BUT it wouldve been good to see Tim playing a couple of tracks.
