Ah, it seems so long ago, probably because it was.

A few thoughts on that list... the absence of "Walk Away" can be explained by (a) the fact that it was (and remains) one of my least favourite TV songs, at least on vinyl... and (b) nobody else voted for it either.  And the inclusion of "Modern Girl" was inspired by the apparance, in some other mag, of a Sheena Easton pic that really did bear a vague resemblance to Mr Smith, especially if you didn't really look at it.  I believe that, too, is buried somewhere within a back issue of the TV Times, if anyone cares to go hunting.

Sorry I missed voting on this... but you knew what I'd come up with, so it's probably immaterial.

No votes for "Signals"?  Love that one.

How about a poll for the best TV songs never to have been officially released?

And will "Beat Up Your Boyfriends" make it on there?

Hurrumpf, not very impressed by the list, I'm afraid.  Hardly any of my own Top 10 even got on there.

Deep breath...

1. Great British Mistake
2. Tomahawk Cruise
3. Television's Over
4. Buried by the Machine
5. The Day we Caught the Big Fish
6. Fire in the Darkness
7. Not in my Name
8. Lion and the Lamb
9. Only One Flavour
10. In The Arms of my Enemy

Hey TJ, if you ever get the chance, I'd love to see copies of some of those letters!  I can't believe he even kept them!

Original title by Dave...Shameless self-promotion (sort of)

Dave Thompson here... thought some of you may be interested to know there's a year in the early life of TV and the Adverts running through my latest (out this month) book "London's Burning: True Adventures on the Frontlines of Punk 1976-1977", published by Chicago Review Press.  Take a look!

TV on TV?

Dave Thompson here... I'm just setting out to update the old "Life & Times of TV Smith" discography/biography of many years ago, and need details of ANY radio/television appearances he's done over the past 15 years... name of the show, date of broadcast, songs performed, etc.  Thanks.
