TV Interviews / Invicta Magazine interview (2019)

Great new interview can be found here:

A few quotes:
Quote
How did your recent show in Berlin with Die Toten Hosen go?

That was really a highlight of the year.

What about the rest of your European tour, how is that going?

I’m on a kind of never-ending European tour. The usual pattern is that I go out and play a short string of dates, then come back to the UK for a few days, then get straight out to Europe again. The gigs have been going great, particularly since the release of the new album.

Are you playing a lot of material from the new album?

I try and play most of it in amongst the old favourites. All the songs work well live and the audiences seem to have taken to it straight away. It’s a great feeling to hear them singing along to songs that have only just come into the set.

So then - Hallowe'en. I'm obviously far too miserable to have anything to do with it under normal circumstances, but these are far from normal circumstances... today sees the release of the new single by Alvin Gibbs & The Disobedient Servants - the appropriately-titled 'Ghost Train'. Alvin is of course the bass player in The U.K. Subs who's also previously played with Iggy Pop and Cheap 'n' Nasty among many others - here he's joined by Subs sticksman Jamie Oliver and Godfathers guitar hero Steve Crittall, alongside guest guitarists Brian James (yes that's right, the chap that wrote 'New Rose') on the B-side 'Clumsy Fingers' and, incredibly, your humble narrator on the A-side. How on Earth did that happen? Anyway I might be a bit biased here but I think that it's a great record - see what you think, there are only 300 vinyl copies so I wouldn't hang about if I were you...

Cross party politicians unite to support Musicians Against Homelessness.

Cross-party band MP4 release MP4 EP5 and single today ‘Do You See Me?’ written for MAH in support of Crisis

The EP was launched last night with a gig in the House of Commons State Rooms - the ONLY band in history that has been given permission to perform there - with thanks to Speaker John Bercow.

Celebrities, music industry and MPs from all parties attended and supported the launch night.

The band state: “When Musicians Against Homelessness approached MP4 to put on a gig in the House Of Commons we knew we had to say yes. Not only did we agree to their request, but also we pledged to release a record to highlight the cause.

“Homelessness is a complex issue requiring more political action. But we also know, as a cross-party group of MPs, that to get results we need to keep awareness high. That is why we didn’t hesitate to answer the challenge from MAH.”

‘Do You See Me?’ is the lead single from the band’s newest release - EP5

The single was produced by Simon Darlow who has worked with artists including Shirley Bassey, Grace Jones & The Orb. The song was co-written by Simon with band member Kevin Brennan MP.

EP5 was produced and mixed by the legendary Robin Millar who has produced recordings by artists such as Big Country, Fine Young Cannibals & The Style Council.
