TV Chat / moved topics
« on: March 28, 2003, 06:43:02 PM »
This one goes out to all of you who wonder about posts which disappeared out of General Discussion (or other sections). Most of these have been moved to  Chat.
Especially Adverts, Tampax, abused and all guests who post "strange" topics should realise that we will move all posts which do not belong into General Discussion (anything related to TV Smith) to Chat (or wherever they might belong). You can discuss anything in Chat :!:  However this one should remain mainly for TV related topics. Also we have Wise Words for lyrics, TUTS for gig supporters etc.
Thank you.

Bugs & Tips / moderator trouble
« on: March 28, 2003, 11:03:22 AM »
Klaus, I've had some problems when moving posts from General Discussion to Chat (e.g.), when I clicked on "Yes" I got the message "Kommunikationsstörung" (oder so ähnlich), however when I clicked "no" it suddenly worked and the post was moved:!:
Very strange, maybe I should use MS Explorer in the future.

World Chat / Sonny Vincent & some guitarslingers
« on: March 18, 2003, 05:15:46 PM »
Sonny Vincent, who has been playing his own kind of punkrock'n'roll for over 25 years now, is releasing a new album with a lot of special guests. He started the recordings some time ago in Detroit (because of the "vibe" there) with Captain Sensible (Damned) on bass and Scott Asheton (Stooges) on drums (he had recorded with them before) and Sonny himself on guitar and vocals. They recorded some "basic tracks", then Captain and Scott went home, while Sonny went to a Berlin studio to finish off the vocals and add some guitar parts. But then he thought "this solo should be done by Walter Lure", with the next song he thought "this would be great if played by Wayne Kramer". So he got the (crazy) idea to bring most of his favourite guitar players on this album! He recorded them in N.Y., L.A., Brighton and Montpellier, despite having no masterplan and not much money he managed to get the album together. Some of the guitarslingers are: Brian James (ex-Damned, Lords of the New Church), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Dexter Holland and Noodles (both of the Offspring, though on the back cover it says "group name withheld due to contract" - oh, the music biz!) and many many more.
If you're into old school punkrock check out Sonny Vincent :!:
The new album is called "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly", in Germany out on Empty Rec. (I've no idea about other countries).

Apart from Sonny, I've been listening to Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds recently. Also a bit of Ramones, DOA, The Mission and others.
What have you been listening to :?:

Bugs & Tips / forum and website Friday/Saturday
« on: December 22, 2002, 12:43:26 PM »
I couldn't get to the website and the Forum from Friday afternoon until now! Waited ages but didn't get through.
Frustration etc.
Of course this happens when the webmaster is away driving TV from gig to gig...

World Chat / Xmas time...
« on: December 17, 2002, 04:42:13 PM »
As you all might have noticed, Christmas time is here again.
We've been discussing all kind of things here, so now I'd like to know: what do you think about Xmas? Is it nice or is it a bunch of bull...? Is it a family thing or a commercial farce?

TV Chat / Progress?
« on: December 17, 2002, 04:39:13 PM »
A really good Xmas present for us TV fans would be some info on the upcoming album! Maybe a planned release date? Planned title? What label is it gonna be on? In which countries will it be released? Planned promo tours? Has there been any progress on this kind of things? Anyone got any info :?:

TV Chat / TV on new compilation LP
« on: December 01, 2002, 05:03:55 PM »
I think it's very interesting that TV is featured with a new song on this LP "Actions Speak Louder Than Words" from Twisted Chords label. Especially as it is a live recording of "Soon As I Found It I Lost It" (great song) AND it was recorded in Stuttgart (where some friends and myself were present) :!:
Must get this one. However I don't wanna order via the internet (don't think I will find much else to order from the Twisted Chords homepage), so I will see if I'll find the album in the shops...

TV Live / German dates 2002-03
« on: November 05, 2002, 11:34:55 AM »
Just saw the latest German dates, nothing in the South :!:
Will there be any more dates added :?:
I definitely hope so, otherwise I can't make it to any gigs.

World Chat / Attila
« on: October 14, 2002, 09:18:13 AM »
Yesterday I went to see Attila in Ludwigsburg (about an hour to drive, but well worth it). I missed the first few songs because I found the venue (an alternative thing called "Demokratisches Zentrum") too late. But what I heard was good! It was his first solo tour for years apparently, so I'm glad I could listen to his songs and poems. Of course he mentioned what he thinks about people like Blair, Bush and Murdoch...
He also read a poem about football, but the strange thing was that his explanation before was much longer than the poem itself!
A medley of Clash songs was one of the encores.
Partly, I think what he does is similar to what TV does on stage, he also explains his songs in German.
JS was there too, nice to see you again :!:
:)  :)  :)

TV Chat / Adverts review in German press
« on: August 22, 2002, 04:05:44 PM »
In the August issue of German music paper "Musikexpress" there's an article about Punk and reviews of lots of punk albums including of course "Crossing The Red Sea with The Adverts". Might be a bit late for anyone to buy it, as I guess it will only be available for a few days left (if that). No need to worry though, Klaus, I can send you a scan if you want.

TV Live / USA Tour
« on: July 04, 2002, 08:30:12 AM »
None of the TUTS flying to the USA to see TV? Tut, tut...

Okay, I know it's UK tour supporters...
But it would be great to hear how the gigs are going. Anyone from the US out there :?:

TV Chat / Channel 5
« on: June 29, 2002, 11:33:49 AM »
Yes, Mr C 5, you did see right, someone else but you is posting on "Channel 5"!  :o
A while ago I finally received the CD from Ozit (together with the Explorers) and listened to it a few times now.
It's a good album, inlcudes some very good songs (On Your Video, Burning Rain, War Fever etc.). The whole sound of it is very "80's", so maybe it sounds a bit old-fashioned now. Not my favorite TV album, I must say (sorry Mr C 5), but definitely worth listening!

TV Live / Blackpool?
« on: June 29, 2002, 11:22:58 AM »
Who of the TUTS are going to Blackpool? Is it easy to get to Blackpool from London by train? Will I find a B&B there at short notice? c u there if it works out...
