World Chat / first gigs
« on: August 11, 2002, 03:23:45 PM »
Hey Fred, I wanted to tell you this yesterday, but I couldn't post, no reply anymore from the website for minutes (okay, this should be mentioned in bug and requests)...
So here's my post from yesterday (good thing I saved the text on disc):
Hm, the first one must have been a local rock band (or something like this), organised by the school I went to...
In 1987 I went to a gig by "The Multicoloured Shades" and "Bellybutton and the Knockwells", supported by "After the fall", all German bands (I think) playing punk/wave (partly influenced by 60's garage etc.)... Not too bad for a first one! :)
The first one of a better known band was "Die Toten Hosen" at the Marquee in London April '92! It was the time of their "Learning English" album, but T.V. Smith didn't get a guest spot (so my first time seeing him was 7 years later in the same city). Though I do remember Charlie Harper, Knox, Wreckless Eric a.o. were there!!

The first really "big" one was The Cure (Schleyerhalle, Stuttgart) in October 1992. 12 000 people there, but still a great personal experience.

Nice to hear you had a good trip!
Maybe if TV does a summer tour in 2003 you can bring all the TUTS from UK and follow him on the tour with the tent...  :)

TV Live / 49 or 34
« on: August 07, 2002, 08:28:16 AM »
Congratulations TJ, your posts don't suggest you are 49 indeed, you act a lot younger. And I guess you look younger too, if people believe you're 34! But I would have been surprised with all the bands you saw in the 70's and would be only 34... You would have seen them at the age of 8 or so...   :)

TV Chat / Ozit Rec.
« on: August 06, 2002, 08:27:32 AM »
When I bought the Doctors' "Late Night..." and the two TV Smith CD's from Ozit I sent them a cheque, but I seem to remember they also accept cash. Should be no problem for you to order there, Jock. Don't be surprised if they take a while though, they had my cheque for weeks when they finally sent out the CD's...

I hope forgeting to answer questions isn't just to increase your posts :?:

No, but that's a good idea!!!!

Alright, I wanted to buy it anyway, cause it features the track with Vanian on vocals. But the reasons you give, make me want to buy it as soon as possible...  :)

World Chat / Pistols reunion
« on: August 05, 2002, 08:37:23 AM »
Fred - if there won't be a next time I won't cry!

As far as I know the Pistols will play a gig in USA in September.
But what I heard about Crystal Palace makes me doubt that we will see them around Europe... And probably we won't miss very much by that...

And is it the tourist type

Forgot to answer your second question:
I think it's just the standard one, not the extra cold (tourist type)!

But you should try other beers when you're in Germany!

TV Chat / Guinness
« on: August 03, 2002, 05:12:11 PM »
Yes, some pubs do sell Guinness, but at least in my opinion it just doesn't taste like it does in London (not to mention Dublin)...  :(

If you come to Germany, there's many kinds of good beer to be had. You know "Beck's", it is available in England, but there's so many others. Many breweries in the south do a "Hefeweizen" (can't translate this, sorry) which you should try!!
The best one round here is (of course) "Ulrichsbier" (no, it's not by me, but it's really good, I do not just mention it because my name is on it)!!!  :)  :)  :)

TV Chat / delete
« on: August 02, 2002, 10:28:04 AM »
Oh yeah, I thought all post referring to S. Harley would be deleted, but maybe that's only in "chat"...

Who should be with TV in the House? Kid Strange? Die Toten Hosen? Gaye? Tim Cross and Tim Renwick? Cheap? Lots of names you can think of...

Hey, congratulations from me, too!!! You have been catching up indeed! (Might have to do with me not being on the net for more than two weeks...)  :)

TV Chat / meeting

Yep, would be nice to have such a meeting! TV told me that maybe he will come to Germany in December, but nothing certain as yet...

World Chat / better look
« on: August 01, 2002, 09:26:27 AM »
Oh yeah, thanks, it looks better now!!
At least the Pistols did some unexpected covers. But they still seem to be no different than other old rock bands reforming like The Eagles indeed...
Would still have enjoyed to see the Pistols at least once. Maybe next time!
