TV Chat / music scene
« on: June 22, 2002, 02:56:58 PM »
Yeah, Dave, unfortunately it is not the best time now to be 16 or 17. (That's the only good thing about being older, ha ha.)
But I think there are some younger people out there who enjoy independent/punk/whatever (anything away from the mainstream). Especially in Germany, as Die Toten Hosen (who are a successfull band here) have helped T.V. a lot, some young people discovered him.
I know very little about Bradford, apart from recent riots and that Justin Sullivan of New Model Army lives there! (Have you got any music scene or is NMA the only known band?)
Would have liked to have been in London in '77 (well I was about 8 years old, they probably wouldn't have allowed me to punk gigs anyway!), all I could do was catching up by records and more recent gigs by The Damned, Buzzcocks, TV Smith...
Sorry if Im gettin' to curious, but are you going to tell us the name of the band you turned down which became massive?

Alright, good to hear it worked!  :)

Klaus, today I finally sent you the files, hope you can unzip them!

No need to hurry with the lyrics, I got them from Viola, it's for others who own the US version (like JS).

TV Chat / Doctors
« on: June 19, 2002, 04:00:15 PM »
Today I finally received my first Doctors CD "All Night Movies...", have listened only to a few tracks as yet, but kinda liked it. Will grow on me I guess, as TJ told me it's an album that takes more listens...
I guess sometime later I will buy "Sons Of Survival". Will also try to get my hands on Happiness.

Dave (I hope singing was not the problem for you), the music scene in Germany is probably not much better than in England, if you look at the top ten there's the same crap - boygroups, hiphop, dance etc. But good independent music still exists in form of CD's, indie labels, clubs etc. (probably also similar as in UK)!

Yeah, I know Jock will be there. Not totally sure about me, but I guess Saturday might be good... And as I'll be in UK anyway, it would nearly be a crime not to see TV.

TV Live / best gigs
« on: June 18, 2002, 01:51:17 PM »
Really difficult, cause none of them was bad!!
Of course my first ever TV gig in London in November '99 stands out (hearing many of his great solo songs for the first time), Asbach in September 2000 was great as well, Munich in June 2001, Tübingen in November and finally both Karlsruhe and Stuttgart recently!

Can't say which was the best one, all well worth watching! But London remains a very special memory for me...

Oh well, let's hope the year will continue as good as this!!!
Any TUTS going to Blackpool?

World Chat / Dee Dee etc.
« on: June 09, 2002, 01:16:04 PM »
Yeah, many bands say "that was it" and then return a few years later, which is okay if they still get on and do good shows...
But with the Ramones I really had the feeling that it was the last time, now I'm glad I drove to Munich (it was worth it even though the drive home was the worst I ever had - ice on the motorway)!

I heard rumours in 2000 that The Ramones were to record a song for a film, if Joey hadn't died maybe they would have done more together again...

Dee Dee Ramone was touring in 2000 and 2001 (apparently he was playing guitar, partly with his wife Barbara on bass and vocals), I thought I'd be able to catch him on future tours, now it's too late...
You never know...

World Chat / Ramones

JS, I feel very sorry for you not having seen the Ramones...
Actually I missed them many times, but hearing about their "last and final tour" in 1996, I knew this was my last chance, so I went to their gig in Munich. It was great, I guess they just stopped touring at the right time (before they were to become a cartoon of themselves). This was however the line-up with CJ instead of Dee Dee on bass. Unfortunately I missed Dee Dee's solo gig in Ulm in April 2000, something I'm even more sad about right now (as I always thought I'd be able to see him later on)...

Strange thing that Dee Dee still took drugs at the age of 49, I'd thought he had been clean for years now.
Great ironic comments he made at the R'n'R Hall of Fame...  8)

Just heard the sad news that Dee Dee Ramone died...
First Joey, now Dee Dee. Sad...

TV Chat / work in progress
« on: June 06, 2002, 08:56:36 AM »
Sorry, still haven't found time to send you the stuff...
But I won't forget!
Another thing: can you put all the lyrics from the Cheap CD on the site for those who own the US version?

Seems like you all had a great night, even though he didn't do 45...  :)  (Not that any of you had wished for such a number.)

TV Chat / Okay
« on: May 28, 2002, 08:16:16 AM »
Okay, that's good, so I will also try to scan the CD itself too and then send you the whole thing in several mails until July...

TV Chat / Zip unzip winzip...
« on: May 27, 2002, 09:08:51 PM »
Yeah, I've got winzip, so I'll try to compress it. Or maybe I'll also try to change the way it is scanned to get it smaller. Not tonight anymore though, sorry!!! But surely in the next few days!

P.S. Klaus, ich geh lieber zum Theoretiker als zum Praktiker:
"Geht möglicherweise
Gibt's vielleicht..."

TV Chat / Scans and booklet
« on: May 27, 2002, 08:34:13 AM »
Hi Klaus, I tried a scan, till now I only managed to save it as a .bmp file, if that's okay I will send it later today (but it's about 6 MB and excludes the CD itself and the cover art)!

JS, I can copy the copies for you, send me an e-mail for the details, as I would need your postal address...
