TV Songs / only one
« on: March 08, 2003, 02:16:24 PM »
So only one of my bets is won...   :(
I wonder which of the two it will be ending up on the album.  :?

TV Live / thanx
« on: March 08, 2003, 02:13:17 PM »
Thanks for this short & funny review, it's good to read this as Lari will take a little longer...

World Abused / okay

Hopefully it's not too late, I signed it too.

TV Chat / (M)TV

Did you know that TV Smith is an anagram of MTV SHit :?:
Well, he often mentions this at his gigs...
And he's right too. I think the trouble is not only that we might be a little too old for rap, dance and all that, but that these channels are ruled by the record industry who only want to make quick cash. They spend lots of money for these polished videos, many small bands would be able to record a whole album for the cost of one of these videos :!:
And now the music industry is complaining about losses and blames the internet, CD copies and all that, but I think that's only part of the problem! The industry should save the money for these bloody videos and try to build up good bands again, concentrating on the music and not on videos, weak images and all that useless stuff. Many people feal cheated by that weak stuff on music TV nowadays, especially those over 25.
So the industry should try to get to them again, not through videos, but good music, I'm sure they could sell more CD's again if they'd stop torturing us with boy groups, weak cover versions and all that rubbish...

TV Chat / nice one
« on: March 07, 2003, 11:14:42 AM »
That's a nice post, fleagle! Interesting thoughts!
The trouble with free speech is, in times of apathy most people won't listen.
You're right, without the communication over our computers I would probably never have met you and mrs fleagle :!:

I've been ill for a few days and I must say it's good to be back here and do some posting.  :D

TV Chat / good read
« on: March 07, 2003, 11:05:11 AM »
Yes, a good read again. I especially enjoyed the lines:
"old school young punks"
"TV Smiss is taking a piss"

And I'm glad that I'm not the only one who can't open a beer bottle with a cigarette lighter :!:  :D

World Abused / Bush&Blair
« on: March 07, 2003, 11:00:30 AM »
I have my doubts that Bush and Blair will ever read this...
Also that would assume that Bush can read which is not quite sure!

I can say that I agree with them in the point that Saddam is a terrible dictator who killed lots of people. But it was the USA who supported him in the 80's with weapons and all that stuff...
Of course it would be better if Saddam goes away and the killing and torturing stops. However, I think if the USA and Britain attack Iraq there will be lots of innocents killed too. So what's the point?
It might get better for the people who live in Iraq, but for those who die in the bombings it will surely be no improvement at all!

TV Songs / bets
« on: March 02, 2003, 02:49:31 PM »
Okay, my bets are on the following NOT to be included on the album:
Es stoert mich nicht (as it's in German there will be no sense to release this on a UK label)
The World just got smaller (so it will remain exclusive to the Punk Lurex EP)

It will be exciting to see if I'm right or wrong...

TV Chat / no need for apologies
« on: March 02, 2003, 02:43:00 PM »
Don't worry, Markus, you don't have to apologize, it's understandable you get angry at politicians. This forum is a way of letting it out and it was good you started some healthy discussions here!
I think the anger towards politics is something that fuels quite a few of TV's songs, so we can't complain about that :!:

Hippiedave, you will make it to 100. Then have a drink with some Forum mates (like I did with the Fleagles)!

TV Chat / kings and queens
« on: March 02, 2003, 02:36:26 PM »
Now look how this thread started with a discussion about politics and war - and where have we landed? The Royals!!

Don't know who could be King of Europe, but it has to be someone with no backbone and no brains in order to represent the rubbish the EU does...

If Gaye likes award ceremonies we should hope that The Adverts will get a Grammy or Brit award for their life time achievements :!: Come on, you know they deserved it...

Lari, thanks a lot for agreeing with me! That feels good.  :)

Hippiedave, I like your lyrics too!
Very funny comment on The Smiths and TV as King!

TV Chat / discussions
« on: March 01, 2003, 03:24:56 PM »
Wow, this gets an in-depth and lengthy discussion...
So I must say that maybe we should have placed it in "Chat", as it's not all TV-related, though his lyrics do deal with these topics.

Where can I start? Okay: the European Union.
Hippiedave, you're quite right about the Euro, most people in Germany were against the Euro but still we got it. However, I must say as we're talking about printed paper here, I don't really care. As long as I (and other people here) can buy enough to eat and all that, I don't really mind what sort of currency we have...
Of course it's worrying that such decisions are made against the will of the people. Democracy meant that the majority decides where to go, but it doesn't seem to be like that anymore...
Don't know about Brussels, Germany and crime in Britain. But I can say that there's too much bureaucratic bullshit coming out of Brussels and the EU and forcing us to ridiculous things...

In general, I think it's the easy way to blame the refugees and junkies, but in fact they are not to blame.
Of course, everyone knows that addiction leads to crime, but it's not necessarily the addict's fault. I think the (big) dealers are the ones to blame.
Actually I met people who were on drugs who were still okay, it depends on your personality, some personalities get destroyed by drugs and the people lie and steal and all that. However there are strong personalities, which even the drugs couldn't destroy...
(Though I still find it quite sad when people tend to spend their whole day in order to get their drug. There's more to life than this.)

Anyone who thinks refugees are to blame should listen to "Happy Homeland" (anyone who doesn't know who sings this song, should leave this Forum immediately, ha ha). I really can't listen to this song very often as it makes me so sad!!

Lari, I thought it was really funny when there had to be a re-election in Austria because of the failure of this coalition and now they go ahead and do it again :!:  Really stupid. And I was quite shocked that still quite a large number of people voted for these idiots of the FP...
On the other hand, I thought it was ridiculous of the EU to decide for sanctions against Austria because of this government, I mean it was elected democratically, how can the EU say: "you voted in the wrong way, now you'll get sanctions"? If the FP was anti-democratic as a party, it would'nt be allowed to the elections!
So if the EU isn't happy with the elections, it's bad luck. Otherwise they should go and establish a King of Europe and forget about elections...

TV Chat / refugees etc.
« on: February 28, 2003, 01:13:05 PM »
To defend Markus a little bit, I'd like to say he forgot to differentiate (I hope that's the right word). Refugees are not to blame, but the politicians and those kind of people who are responsible for the fact that some people do get benefit while others (who deserved it too) don't. Personally I think it's terrible if elder people who paid taxes etc. for their whole life don't get what they deserve while others (who paid nothing) get whatever they need or even more... And that should be changed.
On the other hand, I think that if we can save one person from being killed, tortured or something it's worth it, even if others may be 'parasites' :!:
The trouble is that our own folks should get the same helping! And that is once again the job of our politicians, like Jock said the laws need to be re-thought.
The bureacratic bullshit in our countries costs a lot of money, that's where they should start.

"I think the wheels are stuck
We need a strong horse
to pull the carriage out
out of this rut"

TV Chat / sorry
« on: February 27, 2003, 09:13:54 AM »
Sorry, Jon, I missed the deadline. Actually I read this yesterday and didn't have any suggestions to improve it anyway. I thought maybe TJ would step in. But go ahead, it's okay like this!
