TV Chat / Teasers
« on: July 07, 2002, 12:35:28 PM »
The first line of your teasers seems familiar - is it from "Feel The Pain" of the first Damned album :?:
Dunno much about the rest, sorry...
I knew Zodiac Mindwarp by name, but don't really remember if I ever heard the music...

TV Chat / Damned!
« on: July 06, 2002, 02:27:16 PM »
Hey, great to hear there's a few Damned fans here... :D

Fleagle; I'd just posted that we might meet up, of course if you're going to the Damned gig, we can meet there!! (Or shortly before in a pub, if you tell me where...)
Wow, saw them over 100 times? I'm a beginner concerning this, I first saw them in '94 (no other German tours since the 80's, I'm afraid), then twice in London (late 90's) and again on a German tour in 2000 (six gigs all in all). Can't wait to see them again, especially if Brian is there too (met him recently when he toured with the Lords)...
Your mini-review will be best placed on the Official Damned hompage (I'm sure you knwo that one)! For all those who don't:
I guess I will write an extensive review for "Neat Damned Noise" (an excellent fanzine).

Yes, Jock, unfortunately B&B's aren't cheap in London (I know because I booked one for a good 2 weeks)...  :x
Can understand you won't be there, but I'm sure they'll do more touring so you will be able to see them closer to home.

TV Live / UK journey
« on: July 06, 2002, 02:09:43 PM »
Yeah, I'll be there way before Blackpool, I'll be leaving on July 10th to catch the Damned in London on Friday!!
Maybe we might meet up sometime between July 13th and July 18th, maybe in a pub or somewhat? You can also e-mail me for details...

TV Chat / Pistols...
« on: July 04, 2002, 01:46:17 PM »
Hm, you do have a point, if people have to listen to e.g. metally stuff before, they will be extremely glad when the Pistols finally hit the stage!!!

Good idea to plan to enjoy yourself, I plan the same for my time in England! See you in Blackpool (unless I break down completely I will be there), if you come to London the day before the Pistols gig maybe we could meet up for a pint or two... (we can talk about this in Blackpool I guess).  :)

Btw, I heard a rumour Brian James (probably with his new Lords o.t.N.C.) is going to support The Damned at Shepherds Bush Empire on July 12th. If this is true, it will be a great night for Damned fans (old and new)!  :o

TV Live / USA Tour
« on: July 04, 2002, 08:30:12 AM »
None of the TUTS flying to the USA to see TV? Tut, tut...

Okay, I know it's UK tour supporters...
But it would be great to hear how the gigs are going. Anyone from the US out there :?:

TV Live / meeting place
« on: July 04, 2002, 08:27:25 AM »
Yeah, I'll try to be at Jock's stall unless a good band is playing I want to see...

Maybe I'll wear my useless TV t-shirt, so you might know by this!

TV Chat / Norden?

Wie wär's mit Gigs im Süden??

Viola war grad in den USA (leider zu früh um TV zu sehen), ich bin sicher sie meldet sich mal bei Dir.

TV Chat / Pistols support
« on: July 04, 2002, 08:20:52 AM »
Yeah, I heard a bit from Dropkick Murphys, was okay, kind of "irish folk punk" type music, as far as I know...
Don't know about the other bands, at least they got a chance to introduce themselves to a bigger audience.
Of course, many people who enjoy punk nostalgia would prefer old bands like Buzzcocks, Damned etc. Btw, on the Official Damned message board there were rumours about The Damned being asked to support on that night, but the webmaster said it had never happened (if asked they might have played)...
Apparently the whole discussion came about from the forum of a Pistols site, where some people said they didn't want this kind of nostalgia at the Pistols show, a big joke as they overlooked the fact that the Damned have a new album...

I guess if TV's set goes down well at festivals as HITS, he surely would do well before the Pistols too.   :)

TV Chat / Adverts and Damned
« on: July 03, 2002, 09:10:00 AM »
Hippiedave, great to hear you saw The Adverts supporting The Damned (must have been one of the best punk tours ever)!!!
Do you still like The Damned? Actually I'm going to see them in London Shepherds Bush Empire on July 12th. I love the new CD "Grave Disorder" and the gigs I saw between '98 and 2000 were great. Of course, in spirit this new line-up is closer to the "Strawberries" line-up of 1982 than to the original line-up of '77.
I think they played Bradford recently, did you go?

Back to TV - yes, many of his gigs have an intimate atmosphere. Will be fun to see him among all these punk bands at Blackpool!
Did TV do Channel 5 songs when you saw him in recent years? I guess some would sound good with acoustic guitar.
And yes, I suppose you could say he's a bit like punk's B. Dylan!

TV Chat / support?
« on: July 03, 2002, 08:56:32 AM »
Who are the support bands? Sorry, I am too lazy to look for a website of the Pistols... I'll be in London, but probably won't be going to the gig...

TV Chat / on your camcorder!
« on: July 02, 2002, 08:30:18 AM »
Another convert, Mr C 5? As I understand it, he was trying to get the thing when it was released... But probably I read the message at the wrong speed.

Interesting that you quote "On your video", as I still think it's a good song on "Channel 5"...
But I still don't think they stand out as the strongest he's ever written (I think there's more of those on "MOTG" or "Gen. Y").
What does TV think? I can hardly remember if he played any of the songs at the gigs I saw. (Wouldn't he do more of them if he thought they were among the best?)

Hippiedave, I agree, many of TV's songs sound better when he does them on acoustic guitar! Though I like many of his studio recordings as well.

TV Chat / speed?
« on: June 30, 2002, 06:13:08 PM »
Hm, a CD at the wrong speed :?:
I must admit it takes me a while with any CD to find out the very best songs. In 10 years I will probably like the same songs of it as you both...
But I liked Beautiful Bomb too!

TV Live / Thanks
« on: June 30, 2002, 06:08:51 PM »
Thanks for the info on trains etc. Hope to see you all there! :)
Maybe we can meet up at Jock's merchandise stall or I will see you anyway if I spot T.V. anywhere...

TV Chat / Channel 5
« on: June 29, 2002, 11:33:49 AM »
Yes, Mr C 5, you did see right, someone else but you is posting on "Channel 5"!  :o
A while ago I finally received the CD from Ozit (together with the Explorers) and listened to it a few times now.
It's a good album, inlcudes some very good songs (On Your Video, Burning Rain, War Fever etc.). The whole sound of it is very "80's", so maybe it sounds a bit old-fashioned now. Not my favorite TV album, I must say (sorry Mr C 5), but definitely worth listening!

TV Live / Blackpool?
« on: June 29, 2002, 11:22:58 AM »
Who of the TUTS are going to Blackpool? Is it easy to get to Blackpool from London by train? Will I find a B&B there at short notice? c u there if it works out...
