TV Chat / TV and cash-in

Quote from: "tampaxsucker"

Mr C5, well I discovered TV Smith thru the Adverts (one of my fave bands) and that's why it's so great that you can fast forward to today via the internet and find out that TV Smith is still doing great things. Maybe others have found this site the same way.  And I've still to hear Channel 5.  Is it the best place to start for "new" TV Smith stuff or I was thinking of the best of package?

Sorry to go back to it but the download song blew me away enough to suggest it was released as a single.  Is the real problem some don't want to share their TV Smith with the commercial world??????????  :?:  :?:  :?:

Tampax, I'm sure many people knew the Adverts and hadn't known what TV is doing nowadays until they found this website or did catch one of his gigs (like I did in late 1999).
Actually all of TV's solo releases sound different. For me the best place to start was "Generation Y", which I think is an ace album. The Best Of CD "Useless" would also be a good one to get to know TV (in my humble opinion).

I agree with Klaus in that the website, CD releases, gigs etc. all are there to get people to listen to TV Smith. However I must admit that I would have my doubts if suddenly lots of Robbie Williams fans would listen to TV...  :?

The trouble, I think, was that you started your posting with a controversial topic (sorry, but cash in and TV just don't fit together), which of course made us think you were one of the persons coming to forums on the net only to cause a stir...
Now I think you are not one of these persons, you really are interested in TV :!:
Of course if you'd started your first post e.g. by asking which album was the best to start with or something like that, you'd have received a much warmer welcome.
Anyway, now I'd like to say: welcome to this Forum :!:  :)
Hope you can find one of TV's albums soon and don't forget to catch one of his gigs...

TV Live / 450 downloads

More than 450 downloads, sounds great to me :!:
Hopefully it will pull more people to TV Smith gigs and maybe also a few newcomers to the Forum...  :)

TV Chat / tourist places

Okay, Mrs fleagle, if you wanna see the biggest attraction of Germany you'd have to go to southern gigs where you might meet the wonderful Uli again...

Serious now, if you wanna do the "typical" tourist thing you should choose Munich and / or Berlin.
Munich has the "Hofbräuhaus" where you should drink lots of beer together with all the Japanese tourists.
Berlin as the Capital has a lot of sightseeing stuff of course!

If you wanna meet up with me for a beer or three, you should come to Stuttgart :!:

TV Live / no prob
« on: February 10, 2003, 05:12:11 PM »
No problems at all :!:  I chose the zip version, then unzipped it and played it, didn't have any trouble at all.  :)
Did you get any reactions from people who haven't known TV Smith up to now :?:

Firstly I'd like to say it's ridiculous to expect from TV to cash in...
Secondly I think it's ridiculous to have a go at TJ for calling someone sucker who names herself (or himself) ...sucker :!:

Of course I do agree that lesbian is the highest form of everything, but unfortunately I was born as a guy, so I'll never get to experience this (that is until after my operation).
This of course makes me very sad and it's why I come to this forum to badmouth the shit out of everything...

TV Live / great song
« on: February 08, 2003, 02:50:18 PM »
It's a great great great song :!:  I really like it. What I understood from the lyrics after two listens is also very, very good.
Thanks TV and Klaus for the opportunity to download this a few days before the official release date :!:
 :D  :D  :D

Hasn't Tom played guitar on the "Immortal Rich" album (or at least on some songs) :?:
2-4-6-8 Motorway is the only song I know by Tom (as far as I remember).

Kaenga, I hope you can make it to at least one of the gigs :!:
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

TV Chat / Weinheim

There's another one on the frontpage which isn't in Robert's list, Weinheim on the 25th, actually I know that Cafe Central is a good place so I might catch that one and maybe leave Karlsruhe out (Monday night anyway)...

TV Chat / two gigs (at least)
« on: February 07, 2003, 09:21:28 AM »
Cheers Robert, sounds good, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart, two gigs in a row, I'll be up for it! And I can still think about getting to Augsburg and Munich. Or maybe to start with in Frankfurt? We'll see.
Not a bad tour indeed...

That's GREAT News, I'm looking forward to hear this one :!:
Especially to try to figure out the lyrics.

TV Songs / loads
« on: February 06, 2003, 11:21:23 AM »
There must be loads of TV songs that have grown on me :!:
"The Lord's Prayer" on Useless was one for me too, even though I'd known the Lords and Cheap versions for years...
Also some of the songs on the second Adverts album, like "Television's Over" which I enjoyed much more after hearing TV perform it live! The same goes for "We want the road" from "Immortal Rich" (which also isn't my fave album).
There must be more, but can't think of them now.

TV Chat / The Adverts Anthology
« on: February 06, 2003, 11:15:37 AM »
Jock and PK made interesting points, I think.
An anthology would be good for the younger ones. Also a release on vinyl would be much appreciated by me...

TV Chat / idea
« on: February 03, 2003, 11:17:25 AM »
To be honest, I'm not quite sure. I guess I have most of the songs anyway, though maybe in other versions. I got so many old songs by many artists in different versions, though quite frankly I must admit that in most cases one good (definite) version would be enough to listen to!
In case of an interesting Adverts anthology being released I might buy it, depending on the cost and how many previously unreleased stuff it will include.

TV Chat / chameleons
« on: February 03, 2003, 11:11:58 AM »
Yes, indeed The Chameleons did reform in 2000, my first time seeing them live in Stuttgart (didn't know them back in the 80's), also the new album released in 2001 is pretty good (except for the last two songs) :!:
