And Farsley Celtic..

Far too many clubs who cannot live by their means.. Cardiff, Southend all up in court this week.

Ok Trivia question of the day.

Name the act who had number 1 hits in the 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's but each time with a completly different line-up..

Well done Claret, you didn't fall into the usual trap of Newcastle, as it isn't (or wasn't when I first heard the question) a City.

844
You did that one before.

As there was no takers, it is St Mirren.

Here's an old chestnut for you.

Which City's football club play their home games at St James' Park??

Hey Claret,

You didn't mention that Burnley have a talented "words & numbers expert"...  In case you missed it Clark Carlisle was on Countdown and did very well.

So once again our man ventures into Thanet, surely attempting to better the attendance for the Westgate gig of 2009..  Pleasing to say that he did, by 50%.....

The tale of the Taff evening goes.

7.15pm  EKTaff ready to leave Mrs Taff at home as she wanted to watch EastEnders (I know, I know.. and she is the one with all the O & A Levels)...  Then Power Cut, everything goes off...  I try to tell that it is devine intervention, but no, she knows best..

7.45pm arrived at club, easy to find, parked outside and followed Attilla in....

8.00pm the Thanet City Rockers start their sound-check..which lasted 25 mins... mmm!

8.26pm  Attilla does his.

8.30pm TV does the same.

It was good to see that the patient has made a full recovery and sounded very good..

8.45pm  Including the band, myself & Mrs Attilla and 3 bar staff there were 15 in attendance..

Excellent set, 55 mins, because TV need to catch the 2203 back to London

Get it now

Set finished at 2140, TV packed-up said goodbyes and was away in 5 minutes... he came, he played, he went...  Punk Rock Rules Ramsgate.

Attilla was Attilla, mean moody and improvised when a "Disco beat" wafted up from the downstairs bar during F & F.

I left as TCR came on, just got outside and they started with Teenage Kicks.. about turn and heard that one out.. then Eton Rifles..  they were a very good band and the lead singer came armed with his "Red Sea" album, which was his first record bought, this had been duly signed earlier in the evening.

Home at 2245.. power still out... Mrs Taff unimpressed, cold and no EE....

2250hrs... The power comes back on!!!    TV's train should just about be passing through Canterbury... Devine Intervention or what.

Bit of inside info.  Attilla is celebrating 30 years in the business.  TV to play at his celebration gig in Shoreham later in the year.

then I became a referee...

Did that for 14 years, made it to the Kent League Middle, but was too old when I started (21) to be considered any good.

Lined at Selhurst, Orient & Millwall though.. only Youth games, but a few of the players became league players.

I was once known to have the fastest cards in Kent..  Rumours that I "greased them" before each game to make them quicker to come out... were..... true.  1 season (when going for promotion) I amassed 160 yellows and 45 red's  over 260 games though.  Playing to the letter of the law, with no common-sense.

I know, but I'll let someone else take the baton..

Brian Moore's head looks uncaningly like the London Planetarium, was the fanzine for Gillingham for years, and Light at the end of the tunnel was Dartford's (Dartford Tunnel geddit?)

Ah good old days of fanzines and Sportspages in London, where you used to be able to browse.

We had one at Herne Bay called "F***k me we've scored" in the 87/8 season when the mighty Bay scored 13 goals all season... conceeded 130+  it was dire... I was even sub once (V Danson away)  Our secretary also played in the same game and he wore "bottle-rimmed" glasses, he was put up front and missed a sitter cos his glasses steamed up... I kid you not.  Our goalie also wore glasses...  I am not taking the piss, he had to get permission from the referee to wear them.. Only one refused.. a referee named Steve Bennett... yes that Steve Bennett (he of current Premiership fame)

I'll put you out of your misery

The player is Matt Jansen

Carlisle, Palace, Blackburn, Bolton and now Leigh Genesis  (formerley Horwich RMI) which nicely ties back the the Wigan answer a few posts ago.

Sorry!!! ;D ;D
