World Of TUTS / Re: Goodbye Alan. You will be missed.

Deeply saddened to hear this news. Alan was a top man. Like Jock said, he always had a beaming smile when he spotted me at a gig. I enjoyed his company, a thoroughly great bloke.
Thoughts with his family at this time.

"Say not in grief that he is no more, but say with thanks that he was"

Rochdale v Oldham was a pretty run of the mill 1 v 0 game.
Coincidentally when I went to Northampton v Millwall I met up with a fellow punk fan from Copenhagen, who invited me to a punk festival in Berlin in April. It's the Punk and Disorderly festval which he's been to before and rates highly. I can get flights reasonably cheap. Anyone been to this festival before as I am considering it?

Very good game, with a last gasp winner for the Clarets. Enjoyed my day trip very much. First time I've ever been to the town, some nice looking stone buildings and stunning countryside all around the town. So a great day all round.
It's Rochdale v Oldham next weekend for me - review to follow.

This weekend I've made a random purchase of a ticket for Burnley (Claret 999's team) v Everton.
Never been to Burnley before, so it's another ground I can tick off.
Hopefully Burnley is nice at this time of year.

Joined up with Fred at the gig, we both said we missed you. Basically any East Midlands ish gig should have Alan there. Here's to next time mate.

Had a good day out at Northampton v Millwall on Saturday. Great game and atmosphere from both sets of fans.
Met up with 2 punk Millwall fans from Denmark who invited me to the Punk and Disorderly festival in Berlin with them next April. With return plane fare from Luton to Berlin of £65 I must say I'm tempted.

I think it would be no exaggeration to say that TV nailed it at Foremans Bar in Nottingham last night. A full house (Foremans is about the size of an average lounge) was treated to a gig straight out of TV's top drawer. The place was rocking. At one point when TV was blasting out One Chord Wonders I thought if anyone is walking past they would realise that they missed out on the best party in Nottingham. It was truly fantastic.
Special mention to support act Louise Distras, she is really good, great voice and commands the stage.

I havenít seen Billy Liar previously (, but Iíll certainly seek him out in future. A very powerful performance with just an acoustic guitar and a great vocal delivery style. Very impressive right hand work Ė softly fingerpicking at times and wildly percussive at others. Billy went down very well and Iíd be surprised if he isnít invited back there?
Just checked out Billy Liars web site as a result of your post Fred. Very impressed, so impressed that I've ordered a C D off his web site!
It's nice to stumble across new good music when most of your music purchases are back catalogue stuff from the 70's and 80's. Refreshing to listen to. Thanx Fred!

Well I finally saw Jimmy Pursey's perform on Friday night in Sheffield.
If I was to do a review I dont know if I would say it was fantastic or it left me feeling a bit empty and possibly ripped off.
I was looking forward to this gig so much it actually hurt. The gig started well and I was grinning from ear to ear as songs from my youth were performed before me. Truly superb.
So what went wrong?
Well after just 50 - 55 minutes on stage, they were gone! Yes we had an encore, but that was included in the 50 minutes or so.
To be honest I felt a bit ripped off, no Questions and Answers, no Hey Little Rich Boy and it cost me about £60 for 2 of us to go with tickets, petrol and parking.
Maybe my expectations were too high, but I've waited since 1978 to see Jimmy and I hoped for more.  When I was 15/16 I truly idolised Jimmy Pursey, Mrs Class of 80 often jokes that I was Jimmy Pursey's when we met.
They say you shouldn't meet your idol, I only saw him, but perhaps I shouldn't have?

They are certainly glass half empty types and very similar to the Charlton Train Spotters.
Just been looking at the Millwall v Charlton game coming up. Think that will be my first visit to the Den this year. I do like a local derby.

Millwall are in the shit, which is a true shame as despite the media stereotypes you will not find a better, more passionate set of fans in the country. My days spent watching Millwall have been some of my top football experiences.

Anyway, it was Norwich yesterday, the fake NCFC. This is what I learned from my visit:
1 Norwich is a nice city.
2. Carrow Road is a tidy ground and a good place to watch football.
3. Their fans do love a replica shirt. #opiniontime why a grown adult would wear a replica shirt is beyond me. Very unsporty shaped people wearing sporty clothing does not look great. If you went horse racing, would you dress like a jockey? I think not!
4. Norwich fans, even though they won 3v2 and never looked like losing are very critical of the team and don't really get behind them.
5. Cardiff only took about 300 fans which is poor, Notts County take more away than that.
6. Traffic after the match is horrendous.

Slaughterboy - looks like Millwall have been sold out by Lewisham Council?
For those that don't know, the land around the Den is being compulsory purchased, including the car park of the Den, for development. Basically, they have a plan to turn Bermondsey into the new yuppie area of London and many think it is the thin end of the wedge to force Millwall out of the area.
This could happen to any club and it appears there is very little you can do about it. Many fans did raise their concerns including a 22,000 signature petition, but it counted for naff all. No doubt a few back handers have been taken by those we elect along the way!
I did see a similar plan about 15 years ago for the area around Notts County (bit of a dump), where they intended to build luxury flats and the area where Notts is was a park, no mention of what happens to Notts.
So if you think your club is safe, think again and support any club in a similar situation.

Checkatrade - a very unpopular competition.  Yes you probably do need help, but you knew that anyway  :)
