TV Songs / Re: CROSSING THE RED SEA ( LP1978 )

My lad is off to University soon ( for some reason he's decided at the age of 21 that he needs a career change). Anyway, the other day he was loading his favourite music on to his new lap top that he bought for Uni. Imagine my surprise when I saw he was loading my copy of Crossing the Red Sea!
It says a lot about the album when someone who wasn't any where near born when the album came out is saying 38 years after its release that it is one of his favourite albums. To me it just shows how good the Adverts were and even though they were of the time, they were probably ahead of their time.

In my defence I went this Saturday to Notts v Grimsby. Notts rubbish for 70 minutes and then superb for 20 minutes.
I also noted that Grimsby have a lot of songs about fish eg "cod army" and clap, clap, clap, clap, clap "fish" and "we only sing when we're fishing" - strange bunch.
Probably a good job TV is a bit more imaginative in his lyrics than them.

Next Saturdays jolly away day sorted. It's off to Norwich City v Cardiff City for me (don't fancy Notts v Accrington)

Probably Millwall's goal of the season I would say.

Yes they let us down big time. Did you see the Millwall go though, half way line shot that left the goalie stranded.
I'm off ground hopping to Bradford v Oldham on Saturday. Enjoyed myself with the Oldham fans last Saturday I thought I'd join them again.

World Of TUTS / Re: Dig that old guitar out - there may still be time...

There might be time with the guitar, I own a half decent guitar that at one time I got half decent with, but due to a lack of progress and lack of time it got put in its case and it's been there for the last 8 years!
The problem is my mono tone voice. There have been people on the X Factor that have been buzzed off inside 30 seconds that sound like angels compared to me! (Please note I don't watch X Factor it just happens to be on sometimes when Mrs and Miss 24646216 are watching it).
In fact at my school back in the 70's we had a really good choir and the whole school had to practice every Wednesday afternoon. However, me and about 4 others were so bad we were banned from going because we put everyone else off. Instead we had to do extra maths! In my defence, I had the last laugh cause I got a Grade 1 CSE in the subject.
Voice of an angel, more like a Hell's Angel

Spent this week at Bury v Oldham.
New ground for me. I meant to sit with the Bury fans, but like the fool I am I went in the wrong end. I didn't know until I saw a lad in an Oldham shirt, I thought 'wow, he's being a bit brave'. The detective in me then also spotted other Oldham shirts around me!
However, Im glad I did sit with them. Non stop singing, totally crackers the lot of them. Real first class support!

World Chat / Sham 69
« on: August 12, 2016, 03:41:18 PM »
Just got tickets to see Jimmy Pursey's Sham 69 at Sheffield on 30th September.
Sham were probably the band that won me over to punk music after listening to Jimmy on Street Heat on Radio Luxemburg on a Sunday night. However I've never seen him live. I've had tickets to see him 3 times and 3 times the band have cancelled the gig, so hopefully better luck this time.
I have seen the other Sham 69 a few times, who although good, don't quite convince me I'm watching Sham.
To say I'm exited is an understatement!

Slaughterboy - don't worry we know Notts are rubbish, let's face it we don't follow them for the glory. Our only FACup final win was in 1894.  Before you ask I didn't go.
Millwall have always been my second team. I'm off to M K Dons tomorrow to watch them. 2000 tickets sold to Wall so should be good.

Good effort there Fred.
I've also done Queen of the South (twice), Hampden Park (twice), Glasgow Rangers and a European Cup Final at the Parc de Prince in Paris (Real Madrid v Liverpool)

Young Class of 7 as TJ christened him 14 years ago said he might come, although not sure anyone will recognise him now he's a 20 year old power lifter - not so cute as the photo now.

Slaughterboy how very dare you refer to Florist as Notts. Like Fred we do get a bit touchy round here when our name is tarnished with theirs !  We really don't like the boys in red.
Good effort on the 40 grounds. It's hard to complete, for example last year I lost Wet Spam cause they moved and I lost York City cause they fell out the league.
Strangely did you know that Notts County play in the City of Nottingham and not the county. And Florist play at the City Ground which is in the County of Nottingham.
If you ever wondered which team you chose if you live in Nottingham, it's simple - nice decent intelligent people support Notts the rest support Forest.

Football season is back. I'm carrying on trying to visit all 92 league grounds. Presently on 50 out of 92.
I went to Ipswich v Barnsley on Sayturday. Never been to Ipswich before, nice little town and vociferous fans, so they get the thumbs up from me.
Off to MK Dons v Millwall next Saturday. Dislike MK Dons immensely for how they carved up Wimbledon. Millwall are my second team.
The Saturday after I've got my eye on Bury v Oldham. Local derby so should be good.
