It’s an album which reminds you that despite punk claiming a year zero status, its movers and shakers were heavily influenced by the rock and roll of the sixties and early seventies and in this wonderful collection you can hear the echoes of times past and just about catch the fleeting ghosts of its main musical perpetrators. It walks in the shoes of the likes of The Stooges, The MC5 and The Seeds, blues heroes, garage rock idols and rock and roll rebels and it links arms with fellow travellers such as Nikki Sudden and Johnny Thunders.

Following this, James released this self-titled album with help from some musicians he’d played with in the past. It’s a mature record- the frenetic soloing of DDD and The Lords is replaced by a more mannered, blues-y style but the songs retain the spark of old. Originally released in 1990, this is a re-mastered and limited edition vinyl version of the album.
He’s a better guitarist than he is vocalist but don’t let that put you off; his languid voice on “The Twist” or “Cut Throat” sits well with the slithering, serpentine licks and the late-night feel of the rhythm section. “Ain’t That A Shame” makes a reappearance- it was originally a single with Stewart Copeland on drums- and a cover of R&R standard “Cut Across Shorty” slots in well with the rest of the album.
There’s a depth to the songs that repeated listening unearths; on the face of it, they are fairly standard garage rock fare but several times around, there is clearly more to them than meets the ear.

1)  What are the top 3 songs that TV has played?

Ok, so that's a easy one.. they get harder..

2)  How many countries has TV played in?

3)  How many gigs has TV played?

4)  How many songs has TV sung?  This does not include "soundchecks" as they are not listed (see I am covering all possible arguments!)

5)  There are 8 "covers" on the list, I could be nasty and ask you to name them.   oh sod-it..  name them?

6)  There are 2 songs listed, but they are neither songs nor "spoken word" (so 1 is not Punk Rock Poem) any idea?

7)  How may different TV songs are listed?

Ok then, lets see how you get on, there are of course no prizes (apart from a worn out pencil, but that's another story)

1. GGE, BT, OCW
2. 25
3. 3,600
4. 30,000
5. Power In The Darkness, Babylon's Burning, erm...
6. No idea?!
7. 195

Think I may be too late to claim my worn pencil.

May, other than  #1, be slightly incorrect!  ;)

1 point for the top 3 played.

Could've sworn TV covered 'Babylon's Burning' for the Paul Fox gig at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Am I imagining things?

EKTaff, see, even more response!  8)

Fred, see, our "off topic" conversation has lead to this going over 2 pages, which is good now, so people who want to join in on the quiz won't see the answers right away!  :)

Well I always hope for a "2nd encore".  ;D

Number 7 was 237 songs

Wow, that's a lot more than I'd thought!  :o

Why do you think that? Wasn't Grunfeld joining the Damned for the tour in 1995?

Some of the tracks from the 'Abracadabra' soundtrack were included on 'Ready To Crack' but, as Alan Lee Shaw was on bass for the OST but Nico Mansy is credited on 'Ready To Crack', I don't think they were recorded at the same sessions.

Well, I had a look at (and a listen to) my cd, in the booklet Alan Lee Shaw is mentioned for playing bass on #5, 6 and 7.

Yes. The tracks that were on 'Abracadabra'.

Current headline on BBC Sport: "Manchester United expected to sign Fred this week".

I hope we can be grown up about this GJ!
Always had my suspicions about you :-\

I'm pretty sure 'My Wrists Hurt' with Dave Grunfeld on keyboards goes back a bit further than that. Like about 1979......
