Did you know that NABD initially was to be called The Revolution's The Same? 8O
I think we all agree, that in the end he chose the better title. :D

But it's interesting to notice, that he did something similar when he named his Best Of album 'Useless'.
The song 'Useless' clearly stands out musically from the rest of the songs as it is recorded without a full band.
Though I suppose you lot like the Useless version on Useless a lot more than Revolution on NABD.

Hosenfan,

you have to take a few drugs in order to improve your reception of that music. I recommend some Ecstasy.

Wow, it's great to see how much you care about Hosenfan

Though most of you won't agree with me I have to say that I won't give the song just one point - okay, I don't get along with the music either, but nevertheless the lyrics are better than anything presented to me on radio every day :!: To me it's maybe 'worse than average songs', but not 'bag of shite songs'...
(NO, I didn't need ecstasy to come to that conclusion... alcohol was enough   )

Well, I agree that the lyrics are much better than with most other techno and dancefloor stuff I heard (not that much, but enough)! Maybe that's what he wanted to prove: you can have meaningful lyrics even with shite music...

And I'm quite glad it's not the title track of the album :!:
I've just imagined not knowing TV's music and someone playing me this track "this is the title track of the new TV Smith CD"...  8O
I guess I'd never bother to listen to any other TV track, which would be a great loss :!:

He had no problems with the cocaine I recommended him last time, so I thought it would be alright to show him some other stuff.

Revolution!
« Reply #19 on: October 04, 2003, 08:53:22 PM »
I think The Revolution's The Same is a great song if you listen to it with an open mind. Had TV chosen another style equally different to his own like Jazz or Bossa Nova, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

It's something different, and the arrangements are great. Johnny Quattro's brother is a very famous techno DJ in Spain and France. He listened to the song and thought it was brilliant, not just the song, but the way it was recorded, mixed etc... This means TV excels even when doing something so different.

But I can understand the reaction of some of you. Just like I can understand the reaction of some people when Bob Dylan used an electric band for the first time.

Take care!

That's good to hear! Even DJ's say TV did well on this one :!:  :o
Though it's still my least favourite, I must say I had the feeling that quite a lot of work had been put into this one, the production with all the effects and backing vocals isn't bad at all...

Quite like it myself! It is a bit old style techno, and personally I think a bit of a toke would enhance it more!

My wife loves that type of music and she doesn't like Revolution at all and prefered the other traks 8O  :P

Smit however has given it a 6 out of 10 8O  8O  8O

I think he scored it when Leeds United went 2 goals up against Blackburn on Saturday

I had to get my thoughts in here too...  I too can listen to just about anything , including techno , with or without XTC ( Ahem ).

I think this song is refering to all music being techno or punk or skin or whatever , the message is the same , the revolutions just the same  ...
and i think TV has been brave enough to carry this of on this track .
Allthough this is my least favourite track , im sure TV is pushing his
musical skills to the maximum ,in order to  hit us all with this message , done is such a new and different way( for TV that is ) .

If im wrong then fair enough  ... but i kinda think TV is proving yet again that we dont need total thrash and swearing to get the message accross .. and hes done it an a new and different style to what were all used to .   Ive got to take my hat of to him for this track even though im not too keen on it ,  hes shown us all that he can go in any direction with his music , and pull it off , and  hes managed to get a  reaction from this track allready !

I might drop some E this weekend and give it a whirl , see what i make of it then
Bloody hell !

Hi Jock m8 :D

Yeah TV is as usual daring to do the thing you least expect.

He's dying to know what reaction it will get - the bast! :P

Thank GAWD he called it Not A Bad Day. When I asked him about the title he kind of saw it as balancing out Useless   a little yin and yan or negative and positive. :D
