I still like the Don Antonio album (plus loads of other stuff like Suzy & los Quattro, Duncan Reid, Slowdive and The Mis-Made)!

It’s a rich brew with pedal steel, banjo, saxophones, clarinets, accordions, all manner of percussion flute, dobro and anything that can be used to create atmosphere because that’s what the songs do.

The Fall- New Facts Emerge. Some really great song in the 1st half dozen- then, absolute garbage.
Really enjoyed a few Good Riddance CDs after their impressive performance at Rebellion.

Never knew much about The Dream Syndicate (except seeing some of their ex members live occasionally), but now they've reformed and do sound good:

I will most certainly get these (on cd probably, so I can listen in the car):

As previously mentioned by Fred, 'The Evolution Of John Peel', in this case, the 1980's. Blistering live outing of 'Passing Complexion' by Big Black following some absolute pony from Nina Hagen, then the first ever broadcast of 'Gangsters' by The Specials.

You certainly had yer ups and downs in them days...

Angelo Badalamenti and others, Twin Peaks (Limited Event Series Original Soundtrack)
A collection of the atmospheric music that shrouded Twin Peaks: The Return in even more mystery; Angelo Badalamenti's compositions, like his legendary opening-credits music and heartbreaking "Laura's Theme," make up the bulk of the album, but other tracks like the David Lynch/Dean Hurley fever dream "Slow 30's Room" and the frantic "Headless Chicken" by the Lynch/Badalamenti jazz project Thought Gang sustain the series' off-kilter mood.

Lots of new(er) stuff to listen to at the moment (Mogwai, Twin Peaks soundtracks, Slowdive, Waterboys & more)!

Quote
“The period in which we made it was really, really grim. The post-Brexit, pre-Trump period ... amid all this real horror it felt to me personally that the record, this music, was what we were doing to not think about that other stuff.”

Other than those, I keep listening to lots of stuff from singer-songwriter (Terry Lee Hale), power pop (Duncan Reid) up to (punk) rock (The Mis-Made)...

Listened to a whole evening's worth of Hüsker Dü/Grant Hart last night.

Got the Twin Peaks soundtrack on in the car.

Got the Twin Peaks soundtrack on in the car.

I love to listen to the one with the "songs" in the car (a real good mix), while I prefer to listen to the darker, atmospheric stuff of Badalamenti (and others) on the "soundtrack" at home.

Nice article about the music:

2 new 'Ramones' albums;
Richie's 'Cellophane' which is very good.
CJ's 'American Beauty' which isn't.

Since those brilliant John Peel tribute shows I've been listening to a lot of his old shows on YouTube. It's amazing how many of his comments I remember despite not hearing them for almost 40 years!

I still admire the way he played stuff he didn't personally think was great, but that his listeners might like/should hear. I'd have been far more picky, but that's probably why he was such an admired DJ - and we were the listeners.
TV SM!TH - for the beer and the company! (AND great songs too!)

Bowie's "Low" is still a very good album! "Heroes" to be played next maybe...
Also, "No More Heroes" might get a spin. Or maybe "Rocket to Russia", while we look back at '77.

Currently listening to a jolly compilation CD called 'Punk Rock Halloween; Loud, Fast & Scary'.
Includes first new studio recording by 999 for 10 years, The Members doing Screaming Lord Sutch's 'Jack The Ripper', UK Subs, The Vibrators and lot's of other creepy stuff for the season...

Today is the day to listen to "All Hallow's Eve" by Bride Just Died. Or "Halloween" by The Misfits... or any other tune with that title...  :P
