The Fall- Sub-Lingual Tablet. 2 standout tracks but same old boring Fall. Time to dump the current line-up Mark.

It's a fraction better than the last two albums but...I expect more from The Fall than just mediocrity.

'Autochip' is good and even better live but the rest veers from so-so to polished turd.

I agree, Gareth. Sackings are required...

Steel Pulse and Motorhead at Glastonbury on the iPlayer.

Roxy Music, New York Dolls, Pere Ubu and Lou Reed - the sensational 70's are back in this house!

Listening to The Strangler's 1998 album 'Coup De Grace' to see if it improves with age.
It doesn't. Still only a couple of half decent tunes on it.
I listen to it once a year to see if my ears detect anything I didn't before.
I don't. Still their worst album.

Now I'll listen to the excellent 'Norfolk Coast' to cheer myself up.  ;D

How about "Written In Red" (released about a year before I think)? I gotta re-listen to them both, but right now I am not sure which one's worst. (I think that "Coup de grace" might be a little better, because of some JJ-sung songs, like "In the end".)

How about "Written In Red"

Prefer it to 'Coup De Grace' because it's more 'up beat'. Especially 'Valley Of The Birds', 'In Heaven She Walks', 'Silver Into Blue' and 'Joy De Viva'.
But it does lack enough JJ vocals.

I'd say it was my 2nd least favourite Stranglers album but it's not terrible. And I certainly play it more often than 'Coup De Grace'.

Actually I could take my favourite songs from 'About Time', 'Written In Red' and 'Coup De Grace' and make ONE album that I would listen to all the way through.  ;D

You can add "In The Night" for me! :P
Actually I listened to "About Time" not long ago - still like it. It was and is my fave Stranglers album from the 90's!
Not only because I saw them live at that time, also because I think most songs are really good and also production-wise to me it sounds better than the above mentioned.
(Of course, the real "return to form" was "Norfolk Coast".)

picked up live x cert and decades apart at a boot sale last week. v happy as I cant find my vinyl X Cert and hadn't heard Decades apart which for me is enhanced by it being the foursome we have now rather than the format during the 90s and up to Norfolk Coast which I agree is a great step up from the 90s albums. Also love Suite XVI maybe more than Giants

Not listened to x cert in years... I think I bought it with my birthday money when I was 16 or so...
