The Fabulous Forty
« Reply #270 on: June 01, 2004, 12:42:11 PM »
Thanks for everything TV. :D

As you say I reconstructed the set list fairly well. I had 38 out of 40 and you identified some possible missing ones. Frenzbob posted the rest of the setlist at the same time as you and he confirmed that Bored Teenagers was played as I thought I remembered. The one I totally missed was Eurodisneyland Tomorrow. Sorry Klaus. :D

Just one question left then, did TV play One Chord Wonders?

I don't remember it and Frenzbob hasn't taped it so only Alan and Chris can answer that, unless someone has a really good memory through the haze of Tomahawk Cruise beer.

THE EARTHBOUND 3 SET LIST

1. Not A Bad Day

No, not that crap song!

I was just thinking that this was the third Earthbound where the TUTS gather to celebrate TV and his music - that MUST be a great feeling for TV - it certainly is for us!

They did mine! Cheers mate!

99.9% Sure
« Reply #274 on: June 01, 2004, 06:07:30 PM »
I am 99.9% sure that TV didn't play One Chord Wonders because I was going to shout for it but at the time I couldn't for the life of me remember what the bloody song was called

But bearing in mind I didn't remember NIMN being played, my memory might not be that reliable

I've not played back all the tapes but I'm pretty sure there was no One Chord Wonders - remember Bored Teenagers mind you as Chris was the only one to be able to claim the song....

From what Frenzbob has said Alan I think the only place that TV could have played One Chord Wonders is right at the end after Gary Gilmore's Eyes.

The bigger question is did you get this part of the gig, because in the middle is where Frenzbob's tape missed for a few minutes:

Quote
21. Atlantic Tunnel
22. The Sure Thing
23. Lion And The Lamb

I think it's the first time TV has ever played The Sure Thing live and he wrote it in the early 80's. It's a fantastic song and its theme eventually nutured into Expensive Being Poor.

In my coaching I used to say "find the gift, opportunity and adventure in everything that happens."

...and then I got made redundant at the peak of my performance and career. :o  :(

I thought real hard about how I could turn this opportunity into a gift and special adventure.

 "I know I'll have a special leaving do"

1. Enter Dave the brewer and the E & S Brewery.

2. Enter TV Smith his a rare three hour set list direct from heaven.

3. Enter the Marshallites.

4. Enter the TUTS and EARTHBOUND 3.

5. Enter the TV Smith Tomahwak Cruise beer and pump clip.

6. Enter Paul the Soundman and his sound kit.

7. Enter Frenzbob, Klaus, Alan, Chris and all the TUTS photographers to record this extra special event.

That's Enter tainment...

And did I enjoy my gift?

Anyone?

TJ, it seems you did not lose your gig book, you probably lost your mind for a while due to TC...

Not sure if I can follow what you mean here Uli? :? Alan and Chris videod the gig so they will know if TV taped One Chord Wonders (which he most probably didn't). And everyone their will back me up that at no point on the evening was I drunk. :P

Come on TUTS back me up here!

Yep,

I'll second that!

Fred

Hmm. I guess you'll not be backing me up then.

By the way Alan their was another teenager at the gig. But Moon sure didn't look bored to me.  :D

...and Moon and Benj had the unclouded prescence of mind to get their pump clips signed. 8)

Is It A Sure Thing?
« Reply #284 on: June 03, 2004, 10:14:18 AM »
On the song front the only song that isn't at least part recorded on mini-discs is The Sure Thing (probably TV's first ever live playing of this classic 80's demo).

So it's back over to Chris and Alan again.  :D
