The Thatcher Years
« on: May 04, 2004, 10:58:26 PM »
Caught the second half of this documentary this morning on Cable, brought back a few memories of teenage life, also seeing the news footage of the anti poll tax demo in London, which started off as a really friendly, peaceful demonstration and ended in violence, I remember bits of the day but especially when we got to the square and everyone had stopped, and people were starting to climb the scaffolding - you could feel the atmosphere changing, so a few of us decided to get the hell out. Looking back at the shit that went on I'm really glad we did! The poor girl who got knocked over by a police horse, she was lucky to get away with her life! Anyone here go on that one?
Thatcher started off looking like a 'normal' human being but by her third term was every inch the twisted ugly version of her spitting image counterpart.... funny, you never saw them together did ya?

The best line on Thatcher is from the film Brassed Off when the bloke who plays the miner clown is in the church.

GAWD knows why some people worshipped that creature.

Everything about that woman’s government was bad. She could have made her reforms without ruining the lives of millions of people needlessly. She really was an evil witch.

Digging up a VERY old thread, but it fits in here (found via Jock's FB, cheers):

In keeping with the great lady's legacy, Margaret Thatcher's state funeral should be funded and managed by the private sector to offer the best value and choice for end users and other stakeholders. The undersigned believe that the legacy of the former PM deserves nothing less and that offering this unique opportunity is an ideal way to cut government expense and further prove the merits of liberalised economics Baroness Thatcher spearheaded.

Funeral? Bin bag on the pavement.

As a victim of her retrospective and financially crippling CSA shenanigans I can only wish her death. And soon. Scum.

Did I come across at all angry there?
