I do agree it's a bad thing animals being killed for fun... But nowadays humans are dominating the nature unfortunately (through roads, buildings etc.), this can lead to overpopulation of certain animals which leads to problems, e.g. if there's too many foxes they might kill too many rabbits... So, to say it shortly, there is sometimes a need for something like hunting, however of course it shouldn't be "killing for fun".

Thank god, someone with sense.
The main people employed in hunting do it for money and the countryside not for fun. The fun comes from the people following the hunt, who dont actually have anything to do with the killings.

Sorry, that's not true, those who go crazy now because of the ban are aristocrats and Royals (like Prince Charles who threatened to leave the country - many would be happy if he did, ha ha), i.e. no "professional" hunters. Here in Germany there are professionals looking for the woods who are allowed to hunt animals in certain cases. Fox hunts like in UK have been banned long time ago, but they still do it for fun with not-living "targets"... that would be a solution for UK as well.

As I entered my neighbouring village of Braham I saw a sign that said Fight Prejudice, Fight The Ban! Which is a phrase you have used on the forum.
What is meant by prejudice in this instance Mart?
I really do think that these two sides don't understand the other sides point of view at all.
Now how many things does that remind you of?

The people of the countryside are being put down by the city dwelling government whom have no idea of what they are doing! Thats prejudice, commiting an unjust act against a minority!
And this argument will never be solved. My English teacher is an anti-hunt activist and we have spent hours arguing out the pros and cons and yet we still have no result.

we all have to agree with the ones in power and the laws they make wether we like it or not ! for those wankers to storm the houses of parliament( funny ,i never seen these people at the poll tax riots) because they cant kill an innocent animal anymore shows their fucked up mentality and thier spolied brats way , which is what most of them are (i;e the son of bryan ferry etc etc ). just because they have money they have to obey the laws the same as we do, theyre acting like kids whove spat the dummy out and cant have thier own way! fuck them and prince charles ? etc? id pay the fucking air fare if he and the rest of the windsors fucked off tomoro as long as the pilot was bin laden and the fucking plane crashed in shark infested waters. the majority of people want fox hunting banned FACT. and it doesnt matter where you live, city or country. this is democracy being used in the right way.the minority just have to suffer it , tough shit. they go on about supporting them cos its jobs etc, bullshit! where were they when my familys were fighting for theIr livelihoods in the miners strike and when the shipbuilding industires died, ?sat in their cosy mansions thats where, now it effects them they want my support. STAY WARM- BURN THE RICH!

This is the problem they feel city people are prejudiced (and some clearly people are on both sides), but this is not about that it is about killing a creature for fun and sport. This fact is immoral.
The comprimise is to let them do what they want without the killing for fun and sport. The problem is that they do not want to comprimise. That makes it a no win situation and the spiral into the same never ending conflict that happens again and again all over the world begins. How far will it go?
That's it in my book.

Please don't throw abuse at a young bloke who joined the Forum not long ago :!: That's not nice and doesn't help the discussion IMHO.

Look i know, i'm a minority. And I know I ain't gonna change your minds, heck I've been trying to do that at school for years. It's your life, believe what you want and i'll believe what I want.
Thanks Uli btw, OH and just so you know the dead animals trick (goats were used as well) was extremely sick and i am disgusted at the individuals who perpertrated such an action.

The dumping of the dead animals - especially killed for the event? - shows their attitude toward animals; reminds me of the French farmers who happily burnt the sheep to make their point a few years ago. Just shows a total contempt for animals.
I was interested to see in the Times mid-week (a generally pro hunt organ) that a memo from a hunt was urging locals to encourage the breeding of foxes because there were not enough for hunting.... so much for the hunt to control numbers....
