Come on TUTS. World friendliest forum and all that.
Mart has said that he was "sick and discusted" about the horse and goat event.
Remember that we all view life from the perspective we pick up through growing up in our own lifes.
From my perspective Fox hunting sucks. Their are few things that piss me off more than a living thing being killed for fun and sport.
...But I sure ain't going to fall out with any of the TUTS about it.
We have always (well bar a couple of indecent things) had a policy of free speach on this site. Long may it continue.
PS: Interesting post Alan.

This quote, of course applies to every conflict and dispute:Three-fourths of the miseries and misunderstandings in the world will disappear if we step into the shoes of our adversaries and understand their standpoint.
Mohandas K Gandhi Maybe you could discuss these to wquotes in your school debates Mart. When we listen with the intent to understand other, rather than with the intent to reply, we begin true communication and relationship building. Opportunities to then speak openly and to be understood come much more naturally and easily. Seeking to understand takes consideration; seeking to be understood takes courage. Effectiveness lies in balancing the two.

This is Great Britain, the country of free speach and free belief.
I understand your point of view, but I choose to take my stance.
People live quite well together with different beliefs.

People can live together with different beliefs.
Just, sadly, some idiots choose not to.

I was interested to see in the Times mid-week (a generally pro hunt organ) that a memo from a hunt was urging locals to encourage the breeding of foxes because there were not enough for hunting.... so much for the hunt to control numbers....
If that's the case, then there really is the need for a ban :!: Goes to show that they took it too far. And in a few years time if there's really the need to control numbers they can still send out professional hunters who don't do it for 'fun'...

Mart This is Great Britain, the country where some people kill defenseless, often wounded, small creatures for fun and sport.
I really think the pro hunting groups would be surprised at the strength of feeling many, many people have in this Country about this sadistic sport. It's just that we, the silent majority, choose not to shout out about it.
For the second wedding runing I sand All Things Bright and Beautiful, All Creatures Great and Small with a knotted heart. Killing for fun is against my core values and principles, I just can't understand why it wasn't banned years ago. :?
Having said that you are one of the best human beings I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, so I'm definately not going to fall out with you over this.
You say you understand my point of view, but do you really, really understand my point of view? If you do then please expalin my point of view to me in your words. People live quite well together with different beliefs Goodness me, how I wish that was always true Mart.
I have to agree with Lari here.
LA Gangs, the rest of America, Columbian drug barrons, Ireland, Israel, Palestine, Iraq etc. etc. etc...
...Great Britain.
On the subject of free speach and free belief I totally belief in both. That's why I am having this dialogue instead being upset and angry.

Right I'm gonna shock you all now.
I'm going to swap sides of the argument to prove my point.
It is a barbaric sport! There I said it, it is fun from the killing of animals, its not that barabric in the way the foxes are killed (i still stand by the point that its better than shooting them) its barbaric in the fact that foxes are killed for fun (and to keep numbers down).
But I'm afraid thats what the pull is. Some of us have a neolithic need for violence, to be the hunter gatherer we once were. Its a rush of adrenline you can no longer get in modern day life. Thats why I play rugby etc. the rush of violent adrenline.
But it does serve a use, but technically only one man is needed per hunt to keep the fox numbers reasonable, but others choose to join the hunt and that is why its seen as a sport, the hunt followers serve no technical use.
Please don't hate me for being human.

Hunting ban
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At last - brilliant news!!!
I'm disgusted at the pro-hunting lobby stating that they will disrupt the general election that's due at around the time the ban comes into place - not that it will have much impact!
Standing as a protest party against Labour will only further split the Tory vote as I can't see any pro-hunting/pro-Labour voter having voted for them last time given their clear intensions to ban it!
My God, what are these people thinking?! They want to appeal for the right to terrorise animals before killing them! What will they think of themselves in twenty years time! Pathetic!

GAWD Moderating is hard work around here. Here's Mart's post  My iconic maths teacher
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As my maths teacher says:
'So they've banned hunting with dogs, I wonder if I can use cats instead'
or
'When asked by the police the huntsmen can just say they were taking their dogs for a walk and the fox got in the way'
Maths more than just numbers

Maths more than just numbers
Plus 'if' the ban does come in force, the hunts will continue, because: A) the police have got better things to do B) the people who hunt can afford the best lawyers and bail money and any fine thrown at them. :?
P.S i do not mean to offend anyone on this site, just defending a minority of whom I have many friends in.
