Was any Adverts concert filmed?
« on: March 18, 2005, 08:55:26 AM »
Nowadays we have lots of DVD's being released with footage of old concerts. So I thought: have the Adverts ever been filmed on stage :?:

I heard a rumour about a Damned gig which was filmed during the tour w/ The Adverts, someone told me you can see Gaye singing along at the side of the stage, but he didn't know if the Advert's performance was filmed as well... Wouldn't it be great to see a gig on DVD?  8)

Well a couple of songs from a Marquee gig are included in the Punk in London video, so presumably the whole gig was caught on film.....?

And also there's that 'staged' live performance as part of that German TV show that's included on some copies of Punk in London which is pretty good.

Thanks Alan (also for keeping the Forum 'alive' with other threads), unfortunately I never saw that German movie "Brennende Langeweile" which features performance by the band (still hope it will get shown on German tv late at night!), also I don't own that Punk In London video (but I should)...

Anyway, it would be great if a complete Adverts gig could make it out on DVD.

Whats that really cheesy video with Gaye chatting up blokes on the train etc. Is that the one you mean Alan, I watched a bit of it at TJ's house. There are a few performances on that.

Few shocks here!

The first is that the live gigs were staged! Definately never heard this. I thought they were taken at two live gigs in Germany. Gawd I hope I'm right as I think they are totally awesome  :?

The second thing is that I can't believe that Uli hasn't bought a copy of the Punk In London DVD with Gaye on the cover that features all the awesome songs from the film back to back. Now that I'm without some of my other little treasures it is my most prized possession.

Hm, somehow I didn't know Gaye is on the cover...  :o
Guess I was told about the thing, but forgot about it till now.
I don't watch many DVD's anyway, however this one sounds like a must-have :!:

A MUST Buy For All TV Fans!

It is, but make sure you get the copy with the big pic of Gaye on the front as that one has the extra Adverts tracks as a bonus. The Punk In London live UK clips of The Adverts are not in the same league.

...And to everyone's amazement one track is dubbed by the record.

Pants!

But those extra live tracks from Brennende Langeweileare out of this World!

What about the Adverts on the Old Grey Whistle test. They did a whole show. Is that available in its entirety anywhere?

Not legally as far as I am aware, but Bored Tennagers, plus an interview with TV (as the first ever punk act on OGWT) are featured on the OGWT DVD Vol 2

There is footage on You tube of GGE filmed in Germany in 1979 it isn`t top quality but watchable, I don`t know if the rest of the concert footage exists though.

The Punk In London version with Gaye Advert on the cover has all The Brennende Langeweileare tracks back to back as an extra. It is one of my favourite DVD's of all time. Heaven sent.

You can buy this through Amazon for £7.79...

Brennende Langeweile gibt es in einer Neuauflage als DVD mit köstlichen Kommentaren von Wolfgang Büld. ;-) Sehr lustig und nostalgisch. Lohnt sich zu bestellen, schau mal bei Amazon.de.
