Folkestone Dec 15th 2012

T.V. returned to Kent to play Googies Cafe-Bar in Folkestone, where the support for the night was to be Abjoujaparov, the band formed by Les "Fruitbat" Carter from Carter USM.

The venue is very "compact", with the performance area, being in the basement, VERY compact, accomodating no more than 30, although it did have 2 very comfy armchairs!!!

There was another "special guest" for the evening in the shape of Mrs Taff, who perplexed me yesterday morning by asking if she could come to the gig!! So TV gig number 7 for her.

Abjou were very good, especially as they had not played together for sometime and Les forgot some of the "intro's", but it rather made for a good set of 9 songs.

A quick change and a refreshment "top-up" and TV was on, hoever, with the bar upstairs and the 1 WC downstairs, the attendance looked to be sparse, until the first strains of "Giants" rang out, and slowly the numbers rose and I would estimate that at the peak there were around 25 in the performance area, with about the same number "upstairs in the bar,

With the local curfew of 11pm looming the usual favourites brought the show to an end around 1110pm and a good showing at the Merch stall.

Speaking to a few of the audience afterwards there was a good response and the owner told me that he would be inviting TV back..

I am pleased to say that Mrs Taff enjoyed herself, but she did say this morning that she woke up with "Lion & The Lamb" ringing through her mind...  Job done Tim!!

A good night and here to the next.. (Maidstone, I hear!)!!!!

Set List:

MOTG, 21, Flavour, Clone, CITL, Lion, Useless, Complaints, NIMN, Poor, Imm Rich, GB Mistake, Gen Y, New Church, Lords Prayer, Xmas, GGE, Bored, OCW.

Blimey Tim's last gig of the year - another cracker at the 100 Club last night, and great to catch up with Jon and Sophie again.

A nice event at the 100 Club too; some great acts; Ruts DC with Leigh Heggarty of course, Tenpole Tudor, Glen Matlock, Spizz with a 5 piece band and a huge 'minder', Dun2Def and more besides

Good to see Tim has just about shaken that bug. As always he went down a storm kicking off with No Time To Be 21 and blazing through a compact set and squeezing his allotted time to the max!

A great end to the musical year!

Thank you for the last (?) review of the year, Alan!  Smiley

This thread will not be "sticky" anymore from now on, but I will put "Gigs 2013" at the top instead.
