What is your favourite TV Gig ever?
« on: June 14, 2002, 08:47:39 PM »
I think probably Glastonwick 2002 will remain in the memory evermore- Great set list, Tim Cross and Fire in the Darkness, Walk away and The Easy Way. Absolutely fantastic

BUT I also remember!

1. Seeing the Explorers BLOW AWAY THE UNDERTONES-Leicester De Montford I think 1981? Famous because the Undertones got TOTALLY P'''ED OFF and shortly afterwards threw the Explorers off the tour-no surprise really they couldn't stand the competition
2.And also a classic gig with TV, TOM ROBINSON and AN OTHER play the Brighton Concorde 1996/1997 ish.Memorable because Tom had to apologise because the gig had been promoted as the Tom Robinson Band and of course it was an acoustic show only.It was a packed house and TV must have converted many to his world that night with a fantastic performance both on his own stuff and when he joined Tom on a few numbers

What special memories do you all have?

Cheers

Mr C5

PS  Must say really my favourite gig ever was the New Roscoe in Leeds last year because it was promoted by TJ    Creep Creep Creep!

T.V. gave us a go with the mike "looking through Gary Gilmores Eyes" - I patted him on the head while I was singing. I touched Gayes leg and patted Howard on the back and said "well done" - he said "cheers". I was stood on the stage at the end. Two encores. We waited ages to speak to them, but we were unlucky - it took 22 years to finally meet T.V.

Really difficult, cause none of them was bad!!
Of course my first ever TV gig in London in November '99 stands out (hearing many of his great solo songs for the first time), Asbach in September 2000 was great as well, Munich in June 2001, Tübingen in November and finally both Karlsruhe and Stuttgart recently!

Can't say which was the best one, all well worth watching! But London remains a very special memory for me...

Most memorable

Hi Mr C5

My most memorable gig was the 'Alternative Music Weekend' at Butlins Minehead.

I had been in a music wilderness for a long time and had really just gone along for the weekend. There were a few bands Fleagle had wanted to see but I thought they were pants. Then low and behold there was the man himself.

We saw him on both the Saturday and Sunday and I was suitably impressed.  TV was the first artist in a long time to make me think wow and brilliant.

You know Mrs Fleagle, I have always fancied that Butlins weekender myself

Next one that comes along why don't we have a T.U.T.S Alternative Weekender- the sight of TJ on the roller coaster having had a few shandies, me thinks would be worth the admission price alone

Have Fun

I go to about 2 Butlins music weekends per year.  They are an ace laugh and dirt cheap, apart from the £2.70 per pint at the bar.  You usually see about 2 bands at dinner and 3 in the evenings, at night there are usually 3 bands on at each of 2 venues.  The last one I did was a rock weekend at Skegness last October I think it was.  Saw a good clash tribute band, Eddie & the Hot Rods and a good group who did various covers of groups such as Rancid who were quite good.  If TV goes to another it would be good if a load of us TV fans could arrange meeting at one.

Hi

We had hoped there would be an Alternative Weekend this year, we had told everyone how much fun it was, we had a whole crowd who wanted to go. But alas they didn't hold one this year maybe we will have to write to them.  :D

It would be an excellent venue for a TUTS meet up it was about £57 for the whole weekend including food (it was just about edible)  :?

my favourite gig was blackpool 96
To see t V hold that crowd with an accoustic guitar was amazing , and it
totally moved me .   After seeing all these bands , loud thrashy, noise
e t c , then on comes T V Smith with an accoustic guitar !!  BRILLIANT .

I remember a younger dude saying  " whats he doing , hes got no band
He'll get bottled off "  but after a few songs the guy was jumping around mad , loving every minute , brilliant memorys of that gig , NEVER to be forgotten !

I seen T v at the pleasure beach , and wanted to chat to him , but he looked like he didnt want to be bothered , ive later found out that i shouldve taken the chance to chat with him , as hes very approachable.

since 96 my love for T V Smith solo music and shows has grown rapidly
i wish i could attend a lot more gigs  .... i too wish the Butlins gig was on this year , as i missed out on previous gigs there.

see you all at a gig soon folks

http://www.tvsmith.com/forum/index.php?topic=1374.msg63534#msg63534

Great setlist there!

Difficult to pinpoint the best one out of 39 great gigs...  :-\
I think I'll go for the Earthbounds in Essen 2005 & 2006, but I might change my mind.  :)

Uli

I think that Germany 2005 in Essen was the Channel D show.

That's right up near the top of my list Ului. :)
