"I Love Cockney Rebel" by Adverts TV Smith - Mojo

Great to see an interview with TV Smith in Junes 2006 Mojo magazine...

I was totally bowled over by Cockney Rebel. When I first heard Sebastian on Radio Luxenburg in 1973 I thought it sounded amazing. I'd never heard anything like that before. They had really interesting lyrics and instrumentation. I mean, they had a violin which know one else had at the time! They looked really different as well, really striking.

They were one of the bands that came down to the West Country quite a lot which we really appreciated. When I first saw them live, they had all the same image thing going on, great songs as well. It was really original, and there was this mood of implied violence to the whole thing.

Those first two albums were amazing."

The quotes sound very similar, is that interview in Mojo taken from John Robb's book or vice versa?  :?

I know what you mean Uli. Maybe they both have access to the same source.

Still can't get Klaus to comment on TV's love for all things Steve Harley. :(

Someone once told me that the Sleaze song called 'Signals' sounds very much like Cockney Rebel.  8O
