Liverpool and others...

Family circumstances made me very late for the gig, but luckily I didn't buy a ticket in advance.
When I got to the venue the box office was shut, but it was about 10:15 so what did I expect?
A quiet word with the doorman (even offering a drink!) got me nowhere, so I sat down on the kerb outside to wait for kicking out as I wanted to see who had attended. Another doorman said"Oi! You!, there's 15 mins left, go in..." "Cheers!" upstairs 3 at a time...
Arrived inside to hear the last few bars of the encore.   arse!
Said "Hi!" to TV, and tried to get a drink but the bar was shut! How the hell do Scousers get drunk if they get thrown out of venues at 10:30?
Said hello to Bagpuss and his wife, and a couple of other people who I know from Damned board, Also I met with a certain dreadlocked Australian person who frequents these pages occasionally. Had a good chat with him and his Mrs, a quick chat with TV and Captain before we got asked to leave by the quite friendly doormen.
A good gig (for all I heard of it) and I believe Flava Flav popped in for a quick listen before he went on stage at Academy1.
Looking forward to Edmonton and Islington, and I'm hoping not to be late, at least for Islington, as Edmonton depends rather a lot on traffic down the M6 and M1 etc.
Next week I hope to get to Accrington, Warrington, Manchester, Darwen, Leeds, Whitehaven, Croyden and Worksop. Glasgow looks out of the question as it's a Weds and I have to work Thurs.
Make yourselves known if you see me at any of the above, hopefully I'll be having a drink or two at most of them!
Dim spark.

Hi TUTS,

I see you've strted a new theme on these gigs, so you might want to check the original theme to see who is going to which gig. :D

I'm going to Leeds. Sitting on th front row with Smit, Lisa and my guitar playing Nephew Sam.

See you their Tom and hopefully Alan. :D

This is TV's second biggest UK tour ever. Right after the Damed Adverts For Chord Tour.

Quote
Went to see DMW in Liverpool last night. First gig of tour, small-ish venue with about 200 in.

TV Smith was on first playing a selection of Adverts songs. Very enjoyable, bit of banter. He read a poem then played Gary Gillmore's Eyes. He finished with One Chord Wonders. He went down really well. Top bloke.

DMW came on all wearing suits.... including Cappy with red/black trainers and red laces! They opened with Runaway Boys. Kirk seemed to be having trouble with his guitar which was too quiet. I don't think he could hear it either. Such a shame as he plays some of the best riffs. In fact, Cappys bass was probably louder than his guitar!

Songs included Westworld, 45 rpm, Up for murder, Unsafe building, Strength, 68 guns, Stray cat strut. Captain sang Smash it Up and Neat Neat Neat, played guitar and sang on Glad It's All Over and they finished with New Rose. Captain played a verse of Wot on his bass following a request!

Highlight of the night was probably Transmission with Kirk on vocals. Pity about the quiet guitar as this song obviously has a great guitar line.

Lots of freindly banter from the crowd, good venue, great set and four top blokes. Mike Peters looked fantastic and sang perfectly. Captain, Kirk and Slim Jim did autographs/photos at the end.

Go see 'em kids.... you'll be glad you did....

Hmm.  This review really concerns me. Does this mean that TV doesn't actually join Dead Men Walking on stage during their set?

If so, that's really dissapointing,   maybe he TUTS vocal power can do something about this.

Someone posted it on the Official Damned message board (he calls himself "dog from...", it's his webspace the article is linked on)...

No idea why anyone should mention DMW on the Damned board though...

Hi my friends,

Annette and me will be in Warrington and Whitehaven as well.
We thought of Darwen, but it´s sold out. So we go to Whitehaven a day further and have a lovely day.
Looking forward to see MrC5 in Warrington. Maybe you´ll stay a little bit longer.

Cheer´n´Beers so far

When Fleagle suggested going to the gig at the Islington Acadamy I wasn't a 100% convinced, thought it might spoil it for Croydon  :?

Oh how very wrong I was, it was brilliant  and I now can't wait for the repeat performance in Croydon, Fleagle had SUCH a good time I wouldn't have been surprised if he had up and left me and ran of with Rancid for the rest of the tour    8)

Met RT in the Nags head, just finishing off our first drink and Mr Smith unexpectedly turns up with a couple of friends, then Gaye and John turn up, TV Smith and beer they're like magnets  8)

TeeV goes off back to the venue and RT, Gaye, John and the Fleagles aren't far behind due to the early start  :D

Has TeeV been eating or sleeping more? Has he found the fountain of youth? That extra energy that was with him at the Eater gig is still there and he plays an awesome set, with great banter and a 'well there goes the set list' moment  :D

Then it's DMW they were awesome too, it really came across as musicians have a great time  8) Their version of Transmission was even more awesome

Gaye find's a great spot for photography in a balcony area, but suddenly there is Mr Security with his hand in front of her lens and escorting her and John back downstairs  :?

Ten o'clock chucking out time, RT and ourselves go back to the Nags Head, go to take our drinks outside but the doorman says it isn't allowed at this time of night, however, not sure if he was frightened of us  or wanted the company he allowed us to stay outside for one drink if we made sure we kept our drinks hidden if we see any police cars passing by. We didn't see any though but saw Mr Security, he happily waves his signed flyer at us and tells us how much he enjoyed the gig, it seems he is a fan, what a tough job he had that night. We did tell him off for removing Gaye from the balcony, but it would appear rules are rules   :D

It was a quick pop across the road to the York for another drink (they were still allowed to have tables outside). It's then no more drinking outside the York time so the Fleagles decide to trundle off back to suburbia. Straight on the tube and then straight on the bus at the other end. A very perfect end to a very perfect night.

Thanks for the reports!! :D
Still no guest spot for Teev at the end of DMW gig? About time I'd say, surely they'd love to play One Chord Wonders together?  :?
Especially on nights when they don't have any other special guest...
