I would have loved to have made this one.

I've just been reading a 1996 Mojo article about TV going to see the 100 Club Punk Festival back in '76.

I bet in 007 we are going to have a right old 30 years of Punk celebration.

Have fun Teev. Remeber that they can do anything they wanna do...

TV IN THE Times

Whilst on the train yesterday for want of something to read, Fleagle picked up a Times supplement someone had left behind and found a review of the Eddie and the Hot Rods gig at the 100 club gig with this bit about TV on the End 8)

It is by David Sinclair

While Masters remains much the same performer as he always was, TV Smith who opened the show, has reinvented himself since he first stepped on stage 30 years ago, this month as the singer in the Adverts.  A tall, skinny bloke on an equally skinny acoustic guitar, he combined his patented snarl with the wordplay of Bob Dylan and the politics of Dave Spart.  He was certainly way more angry than he ever used to be when he was a rising star in the vanguard of the punk movement.  ‘I used to think there was a war between the young and the Old’ he said ‘Now I am old I think there is, a war between the rich and the poor.’ Whether condemning Christmas as yet another capitalist conspiracy (Christmas, Bloody Christmas) or railing against various forms of oppression perpetrated by Western political  elites (Not in My Name), he performed every song with an incandescent ire, then smiled sheepishly after it had finished.  He played a couple of Adverts numbers at the end – One Chord Wonders and Gary Gilmore’s Eyes – for old time’s sake.  But his heart, and his muse remained very much in the battle of the present.
