New Ideas For The TV Forum Sections
« on: March 23, 2002, 09:27:53 PM »
Hi Klaus,

Here are some new 's for TV Smith Forum sections:-

1. SEE EUROPE
The alternative to T.U.T.S. (TV  U.K. Tour Society) - focusing on the exciting 2002 European tour.

2. THE WISE WORDS OF TV SMITH
Focusing on quotes and comments about TV's deep and fasinating lyrics.
This section should also include postings about the true meaning of TV's meaningfull lyrics.
e.g. Walk The Plank If there's one thing the British are good at it's exploiting foreign people. They are absoute experts at it. They give them filthy jobs and blame them for everything that's wrong and that's what Walk The Plank is about!
Nice to kick it off with something uncontreversal. You'll be delighted to know that the T.U.T.S. are nothing like the British people highlighted above - may they stay in the minority. All the left hand rise!
Speaking of the T.U.T.S. Klaus, maybe you could re-post the original posts from the last forum on what the T.U.T.S. are all about.

3. HANDY HINTS FOR USING THE TV SMITH FORUM
Many people (like me) will be struggling with the technology.  :? Some of you computer wizards could give us some short cuts, tips and explanations for some of the devices (e.g. What is a Img :?: )
Here's a tip about posting from the Development & Learning Manager: Remeber the KISS of the COBRA and Keep It Short & S[/b]imple - Clear Objective Brief Relevant Accurate.   If it doesn't fit in to the original title then start a new topic.

Hope this helps mate - the hits and posts are showing you are doing a fantastic job.  :P

TJ

Some good ideas there-but can you answer one question?

How have you become so proficient on this new forum in such a short space of time? Me- I am struggling to use smileys, never mind quotes and such like.

Ah well- guess i'm stuck in the past-but I thinkyou know that anyway

Mr c5

ps What about TV's email today."Crossing the red sea- the ultimate edition"- ok so i've got the album on vinyl, cassette, cd, 78, reel to reel, mini disc, dvd etc(I think you get the point) but I cant wait.

Right you are Tj,:P

As I like to translate and analyse songs, I really could do with a section where TVs lyrics can be discussed.

Top Tips and the KISS of the COBRA
« Reply #3 on: March 24, 2002, 11:57:14 AM »
Thanks JS and c5,

Top Tips
See there you go c5 - how did JS use green bold type?  :? I'll try out the Font Colour above and see what I can do.

The Emoticons are a doddle (they must be if I use them). When you want to insert one move your mouse to a Emoticons face that looks appropriate. Then hover over the face and it will tell you what the face stands for (e.g.   = Twisted Evil or   :? = Confused). Then left click your mouse once and it appears at the end of the sentence you have just written. Like so   .

KISS of the COBRA
Speaking of Emoticons my KISS of the COBRA acronyms have Objective in them. The acronym was originaklly used for report writing. So let's try a silly abbreviated one: KISS the BRA. 8O Clear is similar to Keep It Short & Simple and we have already said drop Objective as these postings are often subjective and emotional. :D

So there you go my writing tip for postings in KISS the BRA 8O:-

Keep
It
Short &
Simple

the

Brief        (don't waffle on like I do or you'll be on the net too long!) :x
Relevant  (If you change the key subject matter then open a New Topic.)
Accurate  (keep your postings honest. THAT MEANS YOU MARCUS.)

Just imagine if PK had told me that Richard Strange is playing Southwick 2x2 as a joke. 8O I would make myself into a right wally   as I've already written to TV and Richard about the gigs.

There you go - nice and brief.

Hi TJ & Klaus,

See I knew if I kept of the site for 24 hours TJ would revert to his old self and start churning out the messages  :D  :D
TJ,you old fibber you know perfectly well that I would'nt tell you Richard Strange is playing at Southwick as a joke  :? I know you can see the complete line up on Atilla The Stockbroker's web site for Southwick  :!:
I would'nt be THAT stupid
By the way here's another well known acronym for you G.I.G.O.
IE: Garbage In Garbage Out. This one formulate by computer geeks to show that if you fill a computer with meaningless info that's all your gonna get out of it,like Marcus's posts really. :!:  :!:

Like your suggestions for new Forum Sections but as the main posters are all based over here don't you think we might be tempted to "take over" the "SEE EUROPE" section with our posts.Just a thought, sorry to be negative  :?

Just so you know have rallied 7 (Yes Seven) people to come to Southwick. The Quest Continue's......

Hi PK,

Check out the old site PK. When TV starts touring abroad the other Europeam posts will drown out our pitifull British efforts. Don't make that Great British Mistake

Hello TJ,

Your right  :!:  Look how easy it is to forget the old forum with the wonderful all singing & dancing Klaus forum mark 2  :!:  :!:
I'm all for a more balanced wider TV fan base wherever he plays.
Just think about all the countries TV never plays in and then mutiply that by the support he gets from the UK,Germany,Austria & Switzerland and this site would be truly multi-national. :D
May'be when TV gets to the states with Attila we will see a few America posts here also :?:
Just a thought, but I saw TV about a dozen times before I even heard of the web site. Has TV ever thought of putting the web address on the tour posters  :?:

Bye for now   PK

Good Morning PK & TJ,

the posters used over here in Germany got the website printed on them.
TV brought them over from the UK so I guess, he will use them also for the upcoming gigs elsewhere.

Hi PK, Klaus is right about the posters.:)

I have a signed one of the back of my downstairs bog door.

It says "On The Road With Tj.....TV Smith" and it has a listing of the five 2001 gigs I went to, on my tour with TV; Cambridge, Sheffield, Leeds, Long Eaton and Lincoln (review tomorrow hopefully as I'm on holiday.)

It also has a small photo stuck on it of TV signing the poster sat on my sofa. Am I :( or what :?:

My two biggest email friends are from Germany and Canada.

TV is a star far more poular abroad than in the UK. Hence the lack of UK gigs this year.  :( Soon to be rectified we hope - fingers crossed. :)

C'mon UK start going to TV's gigs and buying TV's records. :x

C'mon TV world fans start posting on this great new forum. :D

Hi Klaus,

TUTS Talk and See Europe should both go under the overall section title of TV Live, as opposed to a seperate secion. :) Please. :D

What do you think?

TV A-LIVE !
« Reply #12 on: March 26, 2002, 09:34:41 PM »
Hi Klaus,

I second TJ's motion any tour talk should be put in a separate titled section.
Just got an e-mail in from Attila the Stockbroker again stating TV will be touring with Attila on the East Coast of America in July.
As TV starts touring new countries it would be easier for new visitor's to the site to have an easier topic heading especially as T.U.T.S. is so confusing at first. :?
T.V.Live seems to cover that quite nicely I think :D

You might as well go with the flow before TJ starts a poll on it  :!:

All the best HOBGOBLIN

Hi PK,

later today I could add one or two sections.
Stay online and in an hour or so, I am at home and
could handle this.
(Still at work, you know)

Hi Klaus,

I'm on line if you want to discuss the section titles. :)

Hey PK the Hobgoblin  Would I really be the sort of bloke to start a poll.  :o

I'm going now to work on the final leg of the TV Smith Top 100 Chart.
