Vanian a.o.
« Reply #120 on: July 31, 2004, 12:29:45 PM »
Good idea, really.
But I doubt it, as The Damned do a lot of touring themselves and are planning on a new album etc.
Not to say Vanian doesn't do any guest spots with other bands, I just got the DVD from the gig at the 100 Club where he joins the remaining members of MC 5 for three songs.  :D

Apparently Vanian was asked to join the Misfits around '95-'96, but he never did, the rumours were hard to kill though...

Don't Panic...

Yeah but the difference is that Dave Vanian was actually in the Doctors of Madness in 1979. He even sang lead vocals on their last single Don't Panic England (co-written by TV Smith).

That's what makes the story almost believable...

...Almost

Of course I know about that fact (and the song), but I still doubt he'd like to replace Kid Strange in the Doctors (when he joined in 1978 he replaced Urban Blitz, didn't he?)...

Replace might be a bit strong Uli as Urban Blitz was an awesome musicain, but yes he did join after Urban quit.

Well TUTS it turns out the Doctors Of Madness reformation was all a scam.

Thanks for trying to help out Jock. :D

And what a totally naff joke to finish off the gag!  :P (see last comment on the qoute)

What a sad little man.

I'll be a believer when I see it Carl, the evidence that is. It will take more than belief to make something happen when two members of the band have already denied any knowledge of the project.

I returned from London a week ago, where I met up with the Kid three times and spoke with Stoner once on the telephone. Sad to say that there was no evidence that any of this reformation talk has any truth in it at present.
That can be taken from the horses's mouth.

Thanks for that information Brian. Confirmation indeed. If, however, the said people ever feel like a jamming session, for old times' sake, and you are the first to know, I hope that you will keep the fans posted so that we can attend...

God, sorry folks I have made a complete pigs ear of this. It is Madness that are reforming, not this group. Wrong site! I was thinking of Dr Feelgood at the time. Hope I haven't caused too much of a problem.

Thanks for the pm Frenz

Looks like I shall have to get a new first step in my music dream quest.

...To see TV, Stoner and Strange on stage in Just Exploring Madness.

The new first step affirmation is: I am watching TV and Stoner live in Frenz's pub in Bristol in 2005 and they are truely Great Explorers.

I am still patient TV and Frenz.

Yeah, he didn't really "replace" him as he didn't play Urban's instrument, but joined in as second vocalist.

So what did Frenz tell you in his pm?
Seems like there is a plan for a gig in his pub...

Lost me there $ Dave. :?

Richard's in San Francisco at the moment.

...but not on the 13th December.

Or did you mean that Stoner is in LA or Australia? Last time he emailed me I thought it was from the North part of the South West corner of England.

No I'm still confused. Serves me right I suppose as I'm always doing this to others.
