TV Smith, Richard 'Kid' Strange & Stoner are just Exploring Madness

Hi Ulrich,

Some facts on TV Smith and the cast of the Doctors Of Madness following on from Ulrich's question under The Damned and The Adverts section.

TV Smith and Gaye Adverts were big fans of The Doctors Of Madness in 1976.

Dave Vanian was in The Damned and briefly in the Doctors Of Madness.

Richard Strange  :P (vocals) was in the Doctors Of Madness and very briefly in The Adverts.

Stoner :P (bass) was in the Doctors Of Madness and played throughout the journey of TV Smith's Explorers  :P

Richard Strange  :P and TV Smith  :P wrote, played and sang several songs together and some of the demo's have been available as bootlegs.  :o I titled the Demo's Raw Meat For The Missionaries after one of the lines in the fantastic track Some Kind Of War. :P

Richard Strange and TV Smith played together at the Doctors Of Madness last gig - now available as a Japanese CD ("You be Japan") on Captain Trip records under the title Into The Strange.  8O

TV Smith and Stoner were re-united a few years ago for a one off gig. I missed it.

TV Smith and Richard Strange were re-united at Southwick last year. I caught it. :P  :D but, I forgit my camera

TV Smith and Richard Strange are performing seperately   at the moment  at Southwick on June 1st 2002.  :D

My favourite ever artist is TV Smith  :P and my favourite ever band is the Doctors Of Madness. :P

My favourite two albums ever are Late Night Movies, All Night Brainstorms :P and March Of The Giants :P

So which Doctors Of Madness CD should you buy you ask :?:

To be continued

Hi Tj and Ulrich,

The best Doctors Of Madness album was indeed Late Night Movies, All Night Brainstorms.

However, as Ulrich is clearly a punk fan I would start off with the harder edged Sons Of Survival.

The three albums (which includes Figmets Of Emancipation, featuring Marie and Joe; one of the greatest songs ever recorded) are soon to be all available from Ozit records on www.tractor-ozit.com .

Hi Kid Sundown

Excellent choices on the Doctors recommendations Kid - you sure know your Strange stuff. :D

As for your comment about TV Smith not being a patch on the Doctors Of  :x ness - on your bike mate.  :x  :x  :x  :x It's a close race , but TV wins by a short head. :D

Do you think the worlds greatest artists will ever play toether live again :?:  or am I "Just Exploring Madness."

A question to those that have a copy   what are your favourite tracks :?:

Wouldn't it have made an amazing :P finished album :?: (once polished up.)

Hi TJ,

You mentioned elsewhere you sent an e-mail to Richard Strange
Did you ask him if TV & him will play together at Southwick and did he reply yet  :?:
Having pressure put on me to only go down for the one day "heaven forbid" [:!: Would really like to see Richard play but am a complete stranger (no pun intended) to his music.
Eh....
I really wish I had'nt admitted to that as I know you think he's only second to TV as your favourite artist. Its a bit like waving a red flag at a bull

oh thought I'd play about a bit with the colour to . Dear God  :!:  :!:

Hi Jock,

There is only one CD out at the moment (Movies) and it's still on sale. The details are listed on my previous email.

Have you got the Strange/TV demo's? - now that is something worth copying.

Hi PK,

No I haven't heard from Richard yet. I've emailed Attila as well. In fact you are the only person who has told me that Richard is playing

There is a site at http://stage.vitaminic.co.uk/happiness/ where you can download Richard's latest offerings. :D

Also in the course of sifting through images to send to Klaus for the site came across a poster for the Marque / Reading Rock 77 with Ultravox headlining and Doctors of Madness as support.  :P Bet that brings back memories  8)

Cant put the image on here unfortunately but can e-mail it direct to you if you want to see it. Just lets us know

Hi TJ,

thanks for the info on the Doctors/TV pathcrossings!
I will try to get the Late Night Movies... CD, actually that was the one I'd ordered about three years ago which never arrived!
I will try it at Ozit soon (need Channel 5 anyway). Is it possible to send them cash (as I don't have a credit card)?
Do you sell any copies of these "Raw Meat" demos?

Who is Kid Sundown (he seems to log in as TJ)???

Yes, I'm a punk fan but I like many kinds of music.  :)

Hi Klaus,

Thanks for putting the image on the site.
Though it's not to do with TV I thought TJ would appreciate the Doctors Of Madness memory jog
Just got any e-mail from him as I know you did about Richard Strange & TV at Southwick.
Looks like we have to encourage Richard Strange to hang about to play with TV as he's on first. If TJ could just pop Mr Strange's e-mail on the forum would be happy to have a go "persuading" him.

Oh and after a suggestion by MR TJ "Unlikely" i decided to change my log in name to mirror my e-mail address.
If I'm as MAD as TJ suggests I am the name fits.

Welcome to HOBGOBLIN
