Couldn't possibly be as poor as S2.

Gotta admit I loved S2 (and not just because of Kelly Reilly), even though most people seemed to hate it.  :o
It was a more "conventional" story compared to S1 (which of course was very excellent and a difficult one to follow), but I enjoyed it.

I've been trying really hard to be good and not spoil Peaky Blinders for you Uli.

The fourth series is now two episodes in so I'll say only this:

Episode 1: That's the way to start an episode, set up a the premise of the series and I'd better not say anything about the ending!

Episode 2: The Peaky's appear to have 'allies' that may be just as dangerous as enemies and enemies that behave better than 'allies' - shaping up very nicely!

Sounds a lot like "Boardwalk Empire".  ;)

"Boardwalk Empire" was excellent, but it's not as good as "Peaky Blinders".

"Boardwalk Empire" was excellent, but it's not as good as "Peaky Blinders".

As I haven't seen PB to the end, I'll wait with the verdict...
To me it seems clear that there was a lot of "inspiration" on PB from that. Or in other words, it looks like they were trying to make an "English version" of BE (and they're doing an excellent job with it)!  8)

I think I'll try the complete "Bates Motel" soon, watched a few episodes with the Fleagles some time ago and was intrigued.

http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2017/08/14/richard-stanley-may-direct-the-island-of-dr.-moreau-after-all

And confirmed by Richard himself now via FB
Quote
All I can say is the rumors are true - MOREAU is headed for television, the only platform on which we have any chance of realizing an R-rated epic with a six hour run time - but it's early days yet. The project is not a remake or reboot of the 1995 version but an entirely fresh adaptation with all-new creatures and more than a few surprises in store for long term island watchers. I have been contracted as principal writer with a first refusal on directing the projected show, so it falls to me to do as the Chacma baboon man demands and "MAK THEE ISLAND GRAT AGIN!!!' We're still at a scripting / preparatory stage and given the complexity of the project its fair to say it will be at least a couple more journeys around the sun before we can start locking down cast. In the meantime I welcome your suggestions. To date Moreau has been played by Charles Laughton, Burt Lancaster and Marlon Brando. What thespians do we have available to us now in the 21st century who are truly capable of stepping into those god-like shoes and making the part their own? Answers in a hat. The only thing I can tell you is we probably won't be going out to Val this time round...

Well I did. I've really enjoyed it so far.
However I sometimes find it irritating that the actor who plays the sheriff has a resemblance to Anthony Perkins, the original Norman Bates (of course the actor of this young "Norman" does his job very well)...  ;D

Anyway, last episode I watched (season 4) does fit perfectly at this point in time (they prepare for Xmas), still it was the first one I found a little boring...

I was listening to this classic John Peel Show from 27/4/82 last night:

when I heard him laughing about Toyah's performance in this "Tales of the Unexpected":

Some serious overacting in evidence here!
