Elvis Costello
« on: July 14, 2008, 01:31:45 PM »
Elvis Costello is to become a fixture on both British and North American screens with his brand new TV show: 'Spectacle: Elvis Costello with,'.

Over the course of 13 episodes, Elvis will chat and perform with some very special guests, including Elton John, Tony Bennett and Lou Reed.

The show will be broadcast in both the UK and US later in the year. Elvis also received an honoury doctorate in Music from Liverpool University last week, joking to reporters that he was 'humbled to receive it in the company of those who have actually been working hard for their degrees'.

Tonight Elvis and The Imposters embark on the second leg of a U.S. tour supporting The Police.

From Music News:

"Remember when Elvis Costello got all upset because Amazon was selling his "Super Deluxe Edition" of The Return of the Spectacular Spinning Songbook for $260? Well, they've raised the price now to $280. That's OK, though, as the standard version of the album will finally see the light of day April 3 and Amazon has it for "only" $22.65 for the CD/DVD combo."

I'm looking forward to catching him later in the year as after some seriously poo-filled years, he's been back on good form of late.

Haven't been following his career really, what has he done in recent years?
I remember seeing a concert on TV (I think it was from Memphis) a few years back and was quite impressed.
The only record I own is "My Aim Is True". (Much later I read somewhere, on this album played musicians who later became members of "Huey Lewis & the News"?) My fave tracks are "Mystery Dance" and "Welcome to the working week".

He's back with two-thirds of The Attractions and his new stuff is a lot more like his earlier, rockier stuff and less jazzy/crappy than when he did all that Country and Jazz bollocks.

I see, that tv concert was indeed more rocking, should be good if he still sounds like that!
