Possible New TV UK Gig
« on: March 26, 2002, 08:04:40 PM »
Hi TUTS,

As mentioned elswhere TV is looking at the possibility or arranging another gig the day before Southwick to benfit those traveling a long distance for a short set (like Germany  )

Here are the words of TV on the subject:
:)

Quote
"I'm afraid I can't promise a marathon like the last Southwick gig (39 songs - Tj)...think I have an hour allotted early evening. Another word of warning for travelling TUTS - Glastonwick usually sells out, as real ale fans come from all over the country for it (buy now TUTS and beat those beer bores - Tj.) What I'll try and do is find another UK gig the day before, hopefully London or somewhere in the South for those who want to do the double..." TV

Any latest news on the gig TV :?: There is that much interest that it will be like a TV fans convention :P

Hey TJ,

Excellent  :!:  another TV gig on my doorstep. :D  :D  :D
I know even more people would go to this one from my area.  :D

Maybe TV should have something similar to Tom Robinson who has a yearly fan gig in London. But for God's sake don't make it a free one like Tom's.That's a killer and fans will still come anyway.

looking forward to the news on this.

Thought you should all be the first to know - gig in London at the Verge is confirmed for Thursday 30th May. Also looking at the possibility of a gig on the jubilee holiday Monday...who knows - maybe one or two more as well.

Great, :D

so in theory I could come to London for the Verge-gig, go to Glasgow on Friday and come back to Southwick on Saturday.
As Fred explained to me how the British train system is (not) working, I am not sure how I should plan that weekend. :|

You can check out train times and prices at www.the trainline.com to see if it's possible...

Thanks,

return tickets would be 29.00 Pounds. Sounds OK.

Sounds unbelievable...do you have to buy it three years in advance...?

No, but it takes three years to get there...

Seriously, Klaus, this must be a special deal based upon booking it well in advance - you may be restricted to various train times, so beware!

Sometimes the trains work wonderfully - sometimes the journey takes three times the scheduled time - seriously - been there/done that SEVERAL times.

Good luck!!!

It's exactly the way you suspected.
Couple of weeks in advance booking and restricted train times.

If I start early for the travel, I might have a chance of arriving in time.
I'll get some details for those tickets and post them here.
Your advice could be very handy.

So far I used British trains just once, 10 years ago I travelled from Inverness to Glasgow. No problems back then.

Oh, to be honest, yes.
But nobody believed me back then and I have suppressed it since those days.
Done a tourist trip around the Loch. Maybe we should have visited those Whiskey distillers after going to the Nessie-museum!?

OK,

I decided against Glasgow and the Stuart Adamson tribute.
Couldn't stand Steve Harley abusing a Big Country-song.

So I am going to test the British rail at some other time in the future.

TUTS weekend, I am coming :!:  8)  :D
