God I just wish their was a better music show than that horrible celeb slimefest. I propose that if they don't have him on, there should be a collective boycott by all the musicians who who know they're way too good for Jools, until the Beeb launches a proper alternative music show that isn't just an opportunity for a telented pianist utterly lacking in creativity to ingratiate himself with a variety of overpaid stadium bores and overhyped media darlings occasionally enlivened by the odd performer of real creativity & integrity (you know them, they stick out like a sore thumb every time). Come on Beeb, you can do better than this gruesome spectacle.

Well that narrows it down!  :D

Thanks Fleags, very nice of you, shall do - hope to make Kingston, transport permitting!

I'm the skinny one (not so thin as TV, but aiming to get there) who should probably have given up on hair 30 years ago but still clings desperately to the delusion that it'll miraculously turn out right in the end.

Maybe there should be an emergency TUTS mobile hair salon at gigs.

Perhaps we could practice on Jools.

Just watched a prog called songbook on Sky Arts 1, there have been several of these done featuring various singer/songwriters past and present. The one I watched was on Hugh Cornwell and it lasted an hour and is recorded in a really relaxed format with just the interviewer and artist (plus film crew) and seems to always take place in a recording studio, there is no audience.
The Interview is all about how the songwriters songs came about and what Influenced them and then you get about 4-5 songs done solo accoustic by the artist -it is a great program.
Wouldn`t it be great if we could get TV Smith on to a program like this rather than getting nowhere with Jools Holland and co?
Although I think An Interview with TV about the origin and Influences of all his songs could take up an entire day on the channel !!!

Cat amongst the pigeons time...

I like Jools. I like the show. There is always at least one artist that gets my interest especially the 'world music' artists showing us there's more to music than basic guitar and drum based styles. I like to hear the odd harp or sitar or other instrument.

But I agree we need an ALTERNATIVE MUSIC show which 'Later...' quite obviously isn't meant to be. If it was a music magazine it'd be 'Q' and not 'Sniffin' Glue'.

But it is a 'mainstream' BBC show and as such I think it's o.k.

Tried to contact the sky Arts team but just got re-directed to the main Sky page, so I`ve e-mailed them and asked if they will send me an E-mail address to someone who runs Sky Arts- here`s hoping

Same hear - NO reply at all from the Beeb...

I dont mind Jools Hollands show , allthough it is mainstream , there are some bands on there .
I really enjoyed new York Dolls a few weeks ago , also Grace Jones .

The sky programme sounds ace too tho ..   ill watch out for that . 8)
