Hm, I would love an album, but I have my doubts if there's enough material. Apart from the one track on their myspace and the one on the tribute album, there's only a little bit on youtube from their gigs. No idea if they have enough material (and a label to put it out?)...
These guys have always been jamming together on and off since 1976, guess they will continue to do so, just for the fun of it.  Smiley

Seems like they'll go out to play DDD (35th anniv.) & more!

First gig report from the Damned board (no I don't have any permission at all, but I'll share some of it anyway):
Quote
Rat and Brian were on top form, no-one has a guitar sound like Brian's. Rat and Brian were clearly loving every minute. The bass-player and singer did a fine job too and it was a great chaotic gig.
Although I was stone-cold sober I don't remember the full set list, though it included all of DDD plus Help, Stretcher Case, Sick of Being Sick, a slowed-down bluesier 'Alone'. They played for about an hour.

yeh Alan we've done ok ..some good ones in the pipeline too .

As for Brain n Rats gig at Dundee..overall  it was a fail ... Brian refused to turn his guitar down on stage which resulted in an over whealming NOISE from the stage which couldnt be controlled at the sound desk... Stuart on the desk had to turn off the PA ..so no pa being used ...the band ratteled through classics...some good versions most dodgy .

people walked out and by the end id say probably around 20 people were lost  from the hall....    now i do like Brain n Rat , but it was
a dodgy gig at Dundee.   i dont think captain n Dave n Stu n Monty n Pinch have anything to worry about in the near future , their Damned are safe enough from Brian n Rats version ....

would i go back and see them again ?     maybe i would , but id certainly do my homework and hear what other folks have to say about the live gigs first .   maybe we got the duff gig out the bunch im not sure ?   one thing for certain tho they lost a lot of peoples support in Dundee.

Sounds bad, couldn't they sort those things at a soundcheck?  Huh?
First time I heard Brian live was 10 years ago with the "new" Lords, gotta say his guitar sounded LOUD to me, it seemed that it was louder from the stage than through the PA. It was a bigger room, when I saw them later in a smaller club, the sound wasn't too good. Guess it depends on the acoustics of the room too.
Someone somewhere commented Brian & Rat wanted it to sound like '77, guess they managed that for your gig, Jock...  Roll Eyes
Hope it'll be better next time. (Or when I see them...)  Cool

Yup Uli we got told Brian had said they wanted it to be as close to a 1977 sound as possible ... but that was just what we were told
by a fan of theirs..  It certainly must have been close to that old sound when the Damned first kicked off ....no proper PA's to play though...and very loud guitars !

One thing is for sure tho ..it was too noisey and anyone who didnt have ear plugs ( most of the audience ) left with a horrid high pitched
ringing in their ears- there really was no escape from the guitar..it mustve been turned up to 11 :-)

Ive sinse been chatting to a lot of people who were at the gig , id say the majority wouldnt go back if they played again , and thats sad as Rat n Brian want to come back again to Dundee .

It is off putting when  Brian wont listen to Stuarts  ( sound engeineer ) advice as he knows his stuff, so would i spend that amount of dosh to go see them again?  mayb ... but more than likely not .

Im not sure what the soundcheck was like , from what im told it was a rushed affair ....not a lot went on ... and it was as quick as they could get off stage  --Brian did look very tired and worn out tho ..so maybe the traveling didnt go down too well with him .

I think they should allow the sound engineer to his thing ..give them a proper sound through the pA and gain some respect from their fans who turned up to see them and were left dissapointed.
