I think they should allow the sound engineer to his thing ..give them a proper sound through the pA and gain some respect from their fans who turned up to see them and were left dissapointed.

You're right-the sound guy did a good job at 999 last month. Shame for the promoter John too-a good bloke.

It is off putting when  Brian wont listen to Stuarts  ( sound engeineer ) advice as he knows his stuff

I admit it would put me off too (much as I like both Ratty & Brian).
I heard a whisper that Texas Terri shall be singing for some of the shows. Not sure if she fits 100%, but I guess it'll be "interesting".
Still hope for German shows, but nothing rumoured anymore recently.  Sad

Thanks Uli. They sound good, just like the Damned of old. I would definitely go see them if they played down my neck of the woods.  Smiley

Me too, still no sign of a German tour though.

Review
http://www.uberrock.co.uk/gig-reviews/10-june-gigs/5260-scabies-a-jamesshotglass-killersthe-gasoline-queens-london-100-club-7th-june-2012.html

Also here is Rockula's report from another thread copied in here:

Quote
''Firstly, we enjoyed the sleazy punk 'n' roll of support bands The Gasoline Queens (Hello Dave Renogade, ex-The Duel) and Shotglass Killers although it was all a bit 'Dogs D'Amour' which ain't really my kind of thing. They, and DJ Jeff Munday, did a good job of warming us up. As did a few ales down The Ship.

There was a fair sized crowd but not a sell-out gig so not so packed you couldn't get to the bars. Which was nice. And there were a lot of the 'faces' from the '77 era along to give support to thier old mates (inc. TV Smith, Gaye Black, Kermit, Tony James, Leigh Heggarty...)

The Scabies & James set I thought was excellent despite a couple of drawbacks. The biggest drawback was that the bass player, Austin Flatpig, was only intermittently good and, as previously said, cocked up a fair few bass-lines. Condidering that there were at least six other well known bass players in the audience it was quite a topic of conversation. He also had his amp up too loud and I found I couldn't hear Rat's drums clearly from stage left. So I went stage right and it was far better. But I was quite suprised that the overall volume seemed quite low. I expected the usual 'wall-of-noise' to be coming out of Brian's amp but it didn't happen. Don't know if the 100 Club has a volume policy or inhibitors but my wife (Xa), who usually brings her earplugs, didn't need them. She was quite happy about that. Or maybe we've just got deaf in our old age.

All-in-all, the main guys reproduced exactly what you wanted to hear. They're still as tight playing together as they ever were. It's like telepathy with those two. I detected little difference or weakness compared to the way they played this stuff 'back then'. Terri realy nailed the songs in a way that made anybody planning to compare her style to DV's totally redundant. She was excellent but different. And she certainly knows how to 'own' a stage. Great frontwoman. I think it bodes well for the other shows and the Japan dates should be crackers, assuming the 'bass' problem is resolved. Wish I had the money to fly out for those ones.

But I will definitely be going along to the 27th July show at The Retro.''

And further to that it appears the Japan dates were a success and Terri did herself proud.

Plus a nice photo (also by Rockula):

Scabies on a Who tribute album...

The 16-track record features many of the band’s best-known songs recorded in one-off collaborations. Contributors include Joe Elliott, Rick Wakeman, Dave Davies, Iggy Pop, Randy Bachman, Ginger Baker, Joe Lynn Turner, Ian Paice and KK Downing.

My Generation – Knox (Vibrators); Dave Davies (Kinks); Rat Scabies (Damned)

Should be interesting.  Cool

I'll keep an ear out for that.
Scabies & James appear to be adding a lot of new dates. I can't go to them all but there's one coming up in Ruislip with Dubcats and Dirty Strangers, two of Paul Fox's old bands, playing support. Think I'll go to that one.

That's right. A few gigs are being lined up between now and Xmas.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Scabies-James/168302849936779

Chrissie & me had the pleasure of meeting Rat at a Sauniere Society symposium.
Rat told me that they couldn't get together a German tour (too many long drives, not enough gigs i.e. too many off-days).  Sad

Btw, Rat can also be seen in this video, as he produced the new Flipron album (out in November):

He's mentioned here as well:

Give us a little on working with The Damned’s legendary Rat Scabies.

Jesse: Rat is a wonderful human being, an excellent musician, a raconteur, a poker player, a lover of good wine and a celebrated Grail hunter. So obviously he’s good company and fun to work with.

We’ve known him for a number of years and he produced Gravity Calling, our last album, as well as our new one. He is a good producer in the standard sense that he works hard to find the right sound, the right performance, timing, tuning and all that stuff, but what I think he really brings to a studio is that he will always push you to go much further than you thought you could.

You discover new things about your own musicality working with Rat. He’s not afraid to experiment and that’s definitely made the new album a much more bold and confident record than it would have been otherwise.

But the Grail hunting stories and rock & roll tales are worth coaxing out of him! A good bottle or two of southern French red will usually help. Before you ask it would be doing a disservice to the stories to try to relate them now….

Last paragraph: very true!  Smiley

Well we've got nearly two days off on the upcoming French tour by The Members and we're staying at one of JC's friend's houses near Renne-Le-Chateau. So, I expect red wine and tall tales are on the cards.  Grin

Guess he'll take you up the hill to see R-L-C itself (or nightly trips to graveyards if you're unlucky!)...  Grin
